King Sod

Thank you Ken at King Sod! We were advised which grass would do best in our backyard, it was ordered, and delivered fresh and green on Monday after placing the order on Friday! The sod was very nicely and evenly cut for wonderfully easy installation. Used the weed eater the day before, looks just great already! And were planning the rest of the day at 10:30 a.m. in the hot tub.

Whew! Due to my own ignorance, I KILLED a large area of my lawn and needed to re-sod approximately 100+ square feet of my front yard. I visited King Sod on Pondella Road and entered a clean, well-organized office and was greeted personally by the owner who suggested I prep the ground by weed-eating the affected area before I bought and laid any new grass. I did as he advised and returned the following day to buy 35 pieces of the greenest sod I've ever seen. I think King Sod must use MiracleGro to nourish their fields! I appreciated the advice and service provided and will definitely return if ever I need any sod for my yard.

We have lived in Fort Myers for 10 years. In our first year here we went to a big box store for replacement sod. It was applied during the right time of year and we watered it twice a day for two weeks. The sod from the big box store was expensive, did not bond to the soil and died out.
Then we learned about the quality, fair price and great service Ken at King Sod has to offer. Over the coarse of the last 9 years we have replace problem spots in our yard with sod from King Sod. We have never had a problem getting the sod to bond and grow in our yard.
Ken, the owner has always treated me with dignity and respect. Even though we have to drive a lot further to buy sod from Ken, it is worth the effort.

The situation started out well, when I ordered $320 of sod the day before, but when I returned to purchase addition sod it all got very crazy. The owner, Ken, acted outrageously yelling at me because I walked into his business to make a purchase. Seriously?? I needed extra sod, I wanted to PAY FOR IT, and this man berated me. Do yourself a favor, stay away from King Sod!!

Needed Five pallets of sod. Called ahead to be sure it was available. Yes, and just as directed I drove over did the paperwork and it was as smooth as silk. Delivered just as promised 5:30 AM the following day. Sod is in short supply right now. So don’t wait around or dilly dally. The product was nice and heavy and fresh. Ken put the sod right where we had set parking cones just as planned. We’re watering like crazy but don’t care we use a well to water from. NICE product just follow the directions and do what Ken says it’ll all be smooth.

I'm a flood victim from LA in Aug/2016. Being displaced from losing my home, I relocated to SW FL. Knowing little on FL's soil being very "sandy", I found myself looking for "sod". I've read reviews on Ken, owner of King Sod, N Fort Myers. I find it amazing that no one stops to consider what Ken may have to deal with on a day to day basis with many different personalities. Let's NOT forget the HEAT, especially how the heat affects people who come in off the streets that are full of road raged people due to the heat, then, wanting to buy sod...in the HEAT. Have you complainers ever walked in King Sod with a smile, a friendly attitude to greet Ken with a respectful attitude? Ken is a very respectful businessman who works hard to keep sod available to the public even when weather's challenging here in FL. People must realize, Ken doesn't grow the sod, therefore he isn't responsible if the sod doesn't continue to grow once it leaves his facility. Educate yourself on how to maintain sod before buying it, before bad mouthing Ken when in actuality it is one's own lacking for the reason their sod may not prosper. It depends on the season whether you'll have success in healthy growing sod. If sod doesn't get enough water to allow it to root to keep it healthy, that isn't a complaint against Ken, but to yourself. Once you buy sod, it's your responsibility to maintain your "investment". Have you asked Ken how to properly maintain your sod? Have you complainers ever thought, if you would consider your personality, your situation that you're dealing with just may contribute to the response you receive from a man that deals with so many frustrated people on a daily basis? King Sod has always provided me with beautiful, healthy sod. Ken has taught me how to maintain sod as well as the different soil backing. Ive much respect for Ken and I highly recommend anyone to approach this hard working man with a smile and you will receive the same respectful attitude and service as I have!!

King Sod is efficient and professional.
They provide a good product and effective hours for Florida lawn care.

We used King Sod to replacement our lawn, 17 skids worth. Spoke to the owner prior to hiring them and yes he may be a bit gruff but he knows his stuff and wants to make sure you are aware of everything and happy in the end. He came out to my home to ensure the job was being done correctly. The 2 guys laying the sod did a great job, took 2 days to complete and it looks great! I would highly recommend King Sod, they have been around for years and they stand behind their product. We received outstanding, on-time service with the highest quality grass!! Thanks again guys, grass looks fantastic!!

King sod they bent the axle in my trailer and if you want sod with fire ants and weeds King sod is the place to buy it. and when I called to complain they really didn't care. Extremely unprofessional.

King Sod company replaced our sod for a fair price and without a hassle. The prep work included rototilling and raking out the surface , which in our case, mixed up the sand with the top soil beneath it to produce a good base for the new sod. Their crew was knowledgable and the finished product was excellent and worth the money.

This place has horrible customer service! Not only does the sod have weeds and fire ants in it, but the owner is extremely rude and violent. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. There are so many better places in town.

The owner is an rude and disrespectful. Worst customer service, not to mention product (sod). This company is a rip off. A minus 5 star I'd you ask me. He's also a racist. He doesn't deserve lain people's money.

I spoke with the owner of King Sod about my job , he said his crew will scrap off dead grass ( which I killed) and then the crew will root till and grade the surface before laying the sod. the crew was GREAT! The Foreman told me that the owner (Ken) told him to just weed eat and lay the sod. Which he did. when I asked the owner about this on the phone a few days later he totally blew up on me. Screaming "are you going to pay ....?" Totally out of control and blaming me for not ordering enough sod, we came up about 30 pieces short, which he would not let his crew go back and get. I have Never been treated so badly!

Go somewhere else. Bad job, awful customer service. You get what you pay for with this outfit. Meaning, KING SOD will be your low bidder, on your sodding quotes, which is the mistake I made. IF you have any problems, the owner is right, you are wrong. I actually went with this company because of the low bid and the fact they done a decent job at my neighbors. But as it turns out, with his high employee turnover, I got an all new crew from who done the neighbors yard 8 weeks earlier( took that long for them to show up after depositing my down pymt check ). Then the idiot driving the sod roller drove it into the driveway culvert and got it stuck and also drove it all over our painted driveway and scraped the paint off. I discovered this the next day because the "crew" left the driveway covered in dirt from trying to pull the sod roller out of my front yard. Apparently, the driver was fired the next day.Think keystone cops laying sod !

I,ve been dealing with King Sod for over 20 years. Great service,great product and fair priced. They have the best St Augustine, Floratam around. Bahia sod is good too, although quality is seasonable, thats the way it is. Highly recommend King Sod for your grass needs. Thanks Ken and staff !! T. Weeks, Weeks Landscaping

this place is close to my house that's why i went there but never again the person behind the desk is very rude and not helpful at all he has a real nasty attitude no customer service at all.

BAD JUJU MAN. THE MAN BEHIND THE COUNTER "LATER FOUND OUT IT WAS THE OWNER" QUOTED ME A PRICE AND WHEN HE INSTALLED THE SOD RIPED ME OFF AND SAID "TO BAD PAY OR ILL SUE YOU" OVER $150.00 IN BOGUS CHARGES.

My husband & I seriously want to replace the Bahia sod with St Augutine sod. Excited & ready to order we went to King sod BUT the person working there was not happy to see us. He actually seemed bothered by our presence and annoyed by my simple question "How much is a pallet?". Needless to say we are NOT going to get our sod there.
