I think the issues people have with this place are normal & valid. First off they sometimes ask for money prior to finishing your hair. I don't know any other salon that does this, but can only imagine that they've had a bad experience or two with people not paying. The stylists speak french to each other & don't interact much with customers. Therefore, there is really no bond with the stylist. It makes for an uncomfortable/awkward 4-7 hours! The last time I went they curled my twists like a 10 year old would wear. I was mortified. I'm a TSgt in the AF on my way to a deployment. I wanted a simple, manageable, (& honestly butch) hairstyle. If I was trying to look cute I would have gone for micros. But the ladies did in fact fix it--straightened the twists the next day. Lastly the hair they use is cheap & really dries your hair out. If they treated the hair first it wouldn't be so bad...but they use it straight out of the pack. So why four stars? I've had other stylists cancel on me...one cancelled because it was raining! So if I needed my hair done in a pinch, this salon was able to meet my needs. They provide hair. (You have to be sure to moisturize your hair because its horrible cheap & drying synthetic weave) They tend to be reasonably fast. I've never had less than 2 ladies work on my head at once. I believe the price is reasonable for the time savings & skill they provide. Dependability counts for a lot in my book. The salon really deserves 3.5 stars. Your braids, twists won't have any real "flair". These ladies aren't stylists. This shop is more of a "braiding assembly line". I won't go here anymore (knock on wood), unless of course I find myself in a pinch with no other options. If you go -Moisturize your hair before going (deep condition the day before, use a good overnight leave-in conditioner the night before) -Take your own hair if possible -If not using your own hair use a braid spray & infusiom 23 leave-in conditioner liberally for the life of your braids - Go back & get your perimeter redone monthly or every 6-weeks -Don't worry about paying up-front. They will fix whatever you are unhappy with.

I wish I read the reviews prior to patronizing this salon 2 weeks ago. I experienced the same response when I inquired of the Sengalese twists $180 then charged $220. I did not like the atmosphere nor the idea of watching Nigerian television and listening to them speak to each other the entire time. I was in the chair for 10 hours when I finally asked for a break...I was starving! Hesitantly, she breaked and asked me how long was I going to take. I also didn't like that they were cash only...which I was not aware of until I noticed someone else paying in cash...when I inquired of a debit card the young lady shouted "Oh No...Cash!" I would not recommend. . .
I was in the shop for boss braids within three hour it has been done and well done the shop owner was there to make sure everything was fine the girls are doing good job.I didn't find the place dirty as people said or dirty towel.I really recommend the Shop because being fast in braid is essential. I had bad experience in other shops But I never review them because sometimes it can happen I don't want to rely on one experience to spoil people business.Felicia I put 5 stars for you because I came to your place For 5 years and it was always good job
I have been coming to Mrs. Mimi for the pasy couple of years. The shop is clean. The color of the walls are a nice purple. My hair is always done just how i want it, i dont even have to look in mirror anymore because she does such a good job. She is also very nice and have a pleasant attitude. Also every time i call her she is also always available for me. I thank her very much and would recommend anyone that wants a professional braid style!
I went to the shop to get singles, it was my first time there the owner was pleasant the other two ladies in the shop was kind too...It took about 6 hrs. ,but it was well worth it!!! They didn't try to pull my hair out my scalp & I'm loving my braids other ppl do as well...I am definitely going back when it's time & I will absolutely promote there beautiful braids for more business for them!!!
I went to get kinky twist and the results were amazing. It took some time to get settled but once she started everything went smoothly. As she was doing my hair she told me everything that she was putting in my hair and ensured that I approved. 2 months later I took out my hair and saw a great deal of growth. I recommend her to everyone and will for sure go back.
I went by another place off of Rivers Ave., but the lady there was so unfriendly and cold. I left and drove around and found Amy's. I chose this place b/c she was extremely nice and friendly. Although it was more than the original place I planned to go, I did not mind b/c of the nice, professional service and my micros were FANTASTIC!!!
I was very pleased with the job that was done and the length of time it took and thd price was well worth it and i am going back when it is time get my hair braided again. So if you are looking stop here and let this be the place you come to get your hair did, it is truly worth your time and money!!!!!!
She's my favorite hair dresser by far. She works quickly and efficiently without wasting time like many other hair dressers that I've been to in the past. Many other hair dresser try to impose their opinion on you and I wasn't for it but I realized that she respects your opinion.
First, this is the cleanse Braiding Salon I've ever seen in The Lowcountry. I called at 5:45am, and got an appointment for 8am. I requested long crochet braids done with Brazilian 20". As of right now, I'm very impressed. Will update after my service ;-)
