We were referred down to Metropolitan by the on call Dr at Limerick Vet when our 1 year old Doberman, Nico was suffering with severe body cramps, lameness, along vomiting and non-stop diarrhea. He came in from his afternoon exercise when this seemed to hit him and we were sure that maybe it was heat exhaustion possibly leading to a heat-stroke. Nico was examined by Dr Buckman who evaluated his condition and put him on IV fluids ASAP. He spoke to us briefly with some initial ideas to Nico's condition and said he would need overnight to draw blood, do extensive x-rays, possibly a ultra sound, etc.... He assured he would call us the next morning between 6:30- 6:45 to update us with Nico's condition and his overnight findings before finishing his shift. Like clockwork Dr Buckman called us at 6:40 the next morning to inform us he strongly suspected Nico was struck with the bone condition, Panosteidis. A condition that effects young, large breed dogs aged 4 to 18 months in breeds such as German Shepards, Great Danes, Rotties, and Dobermans. It's a very painful but temporary condition that by the time the dog reaches 2 yr of age, Panosteidis is no longer a concern. Dr Buckman informed us Nico would need to stay another day and a half while treating him with pain meds, anti-inflammatory meds, and an IV for his dehydration. Nico spent approx 40 hrs in there before he was good enough to come home. 2 days after coming home, Nico was back to his same ole' mischievous self. 😃 Dr Buckman continued to follow up along with the nursing staff from Metropoliitan answering our questions & calming our concerns. This was first class treatment by Dr Buckman & staff and we're very grateful for their attention Nico. In the future, if we need that emergency service from Metropolitan, Dr Buckman is the vet we will vehemently seek out. A sincere Thank You to Dr Buckman and the Metropolitan staff, you guys are the very best!!! Sincerely Damian, Sharon, & Nico Zajac!!

Gave me a quote for 24 hour round the clock care with all medicine my dog would need for $800-$1000. I signed a written quote agreeing to the charges and went home without my doggie. I received a call at 10pm within 3 hours of leaving to tell me her quote was only for moderate care and would now need a higher level of care that will now cost twice the price. What choice does someone have at 10pm unless you can pick up the dog and take them somewhere else? Then to find out the extra cost was to give sugar medicine in her IV drip and to have a tech check her sugar levels throughout the night. Seriously! Isn't that what round the clock care including her medicine means? Never was it ever mentioned her cost of care would go up. Don't get me wrong, if my dog needed emergency surgery or an unexpected procedure then I would expect that but when I'm told round the clock care with medicines included in that huge price already, I don't expect to pay more just because they feel like charging more. When confronted they have no answer other than your dog was sick and we didn't make them sick. Well that's not good enough. Beware of this place and their charges. They have mastered the art of bait and switch and refuse to do anything about it. I'm still waiting for the manager to call me back to discuss this issue.

MRSA Infection at Time of Surgery

They infected my dog with MRSA when she had surgery and refused to take responsibility. If your dog needs surgery, stay away! 5 or 6 other dogs had been infected before mine!
