All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
It’s time to bring long sleeves and long pants out of storage, prep your home and car, and contact the cool weather home/yard contractors.
I have never experienced a business before that has offered me such exceptional service! Usually I hate taking any vehicle to a service location, and especially my late-model import. I always feel uncomfortable with the staff, uneasy about their equipment, or just paranoid about the quality of service that my car will receive. This was not the case at all at Eurosport! My BMW needed a 30,000 mile inspection, and I was nervous about taking my vehicle to a dealership where I knew I wouldn't receive individual attention, so I thought that I would try this place out. When I arrived, I was welcomed by a very freindly reception staff that made me feel at ease about handing my car off to someone else. The lobby area is very warm and welcoming, and they even have a full-service coffee bar while you wait! The service staff was exceptional; they were the most knowledgeable staff I have ever encountered, and I have owned import cars, and thus have had to take them in for servicing, for many years, but I was utterly blown away by how competent and professional the staff here was. The whole procedure didn't take much time at all, but to keep me occupied while my car was being serviced, they even have a complimentary shuttle that took me out to lunch, drove me to the bank to finish a few errands, and even took me by the office so I could tie up a few loose ends. Wow! Most importantly, though, when my car was finished, I was thoroughly relieved by the reports that the expert technicians gave me. They were very honest about the condition of my car, and didn't throw on bogus recommendations for servicing that I'm used to when taking my car in for repairs. As far as the cost is concerned, for the level of service, peace of mind, and comfort that I received at Eurosport, there is no question that I will take all of my cars here in the future. What a wonderful experience! 10 out of 10 easily.
I was born in Norman and have been going to Ron's Automotive since I first started driving. I have always appreciated the extra mile they go to help out their customers. When I needed a ride back to my house I could get one. If I needed to pick the car up after they closed, I could call and have someone stay a bit late (not too late) so I could get there to pick it up after they would have closed. Now I will say that over the years the news has not always been good as some of my repairs have been expensive, but at least Ron's was able to work with me on payment for fixing my car. My friends were suspicious of Ron's when I recommended them because they thought "No one is that good." However, after getting several quotes on the work for their car Ron's was the lowest by several hundred dollars and Ron's was willing to do the work in a day or two unlike the other places. Ron's definitely made a convert that day I can tell you. They are the most honest and trustworthy garage I have ever been at. If it is broken they will give you a fair and honest price for fixing it, and they get it done right the first time. I just had my car in the shop (Dec 2015) and they replaced my battery for free, since it was under warranty and they called me to make sure I wanted to do the oil change early. I told them, if it doesn't need the oil change then we can wait on that. Other places would have just gone ahead and done the oil change since I said I thought it needed one. Their work is always top notch, done quickly with plenty of communication, which I appreciate. If you are reading this trying to decide whether to use Ron's or not, I say give them a try and you will be pleasantly surprised.
May 23, 2013 AMAZING! I googled a auto service to help my boys who were stranded on the highway. Their van had broke down it was starting to get dark outside and they needed immediate help in getting their van to a shop to get it running again. I called Sooner Auto Service after hours. Daniel answered and he immediately went to work on getting my boys off the highway. He hung up with me and called my sons and asked what mile marker they were at and called in a tow truck for the van to be towed. He brought boys to his shop. The boys were on a road trip to Colorado to sing and had a gig scheduled for their band performance. It was urgent they get back on the road as soon as possible. Daniel was able to fix the problem that same night! He took such good care of the band. I am so thankful as a mom that Daniel took my concerns for their safety and acted immediately to resolve the uncertainty i was feeling! You should use them for your auto care you will be just as HAPPY as we are!! :) God Bless you! I began going to Norman Automotive in May, 2011. I still take my car there and have no complaints at all! I'm surprised by these 2 negative reviews. I would think the best time to price a repair would be BEFORE the repair is made. Many times I've purchased something in a store, then see it for less the following week, but that doesn't make the store a bad store. Prior to NA, I went to a different repair shop in Norman, one that is listed on here with 5 stars, and I can tell you the oil changes got more and more expensive and then the final straw was that I was told I needed some other repairs totaling over $1000. I just had this gut feeling and it turned out those repairs were not needed at all. Something that is VERY VALUABLE to me is that I TRUST Jimmy & John at Norman Automotive. As a single woman, I can tell you I've been ripped off at many places, but not here! When I first began to go here, I called around to compare prices and NA was always the cheapest. I don't even bother to call around any more. Norman Automotive has done small to large repairs on my autos and I am a satisfied customer!
This place is very reasonable in their pricing, and their staff is very helpful and friendly. I originally heard about Mike's from one of my best friends. Nothing works better than word of mouth. My previous car was a no-longer-produced import, and parts were normally hard to find and expensive. They were nice enough to say "Here's the part number and name. It'll be cheaper for you to order online and then we'll just charge you for the labor to put it in." Much better than having to order it and both them and me being charged a fortune. I also feel that I should point out that I'm a woman, and am not very knowledgeable about cars. This often means that I'm concerned with getting scammed. I have never had that concern with this shop. They have always been fair and understanding, explaining all the work and why and never trying to do unnecessary upsells. As long as I'm in Norman, I won't go anywhere else.
I've taken my car there about 10 times now. After trying 3 other rip off places in Norman (Mike's Tire and Auto was one), I found Midas to be consistent and never felt overcharged or ripped off. Had all 4 brakes done, then a dead alternater, melted water pump replaced, belts, ball bearing replaced from hitting a curb, a couple tune ups. I first went there because my gf took her car there by herself, thinking something major was wrong (and told them so), but it a simple fuel problem and they charged her nothing. The front guy at the counter is very friendly, told me once I could put a couple repairs off for a while (and I did). Once they did more repairs than the estimate and the price went up without them checking with me first. Besides that, I'd recommend them but can't guarantee you'll get the same results as I have. Of course you just have to find the right car repair place for you.
Took my car in Saturday morning because it was vibrating, making noises, and stalling. Not to mention eating up all my money for gas (which is strange because it's a Buick). I'll admit when I first saw the building it didn't look pretty and passing by you would think they were out of business with how old it looked. But I decided to take the chance and have them check out my car and I'm glad I did! I explained the problems my car was having and they ran a test on it and got back to me within 30mins of giving them the keys and explained to what was wrong and how it was affecting my car. They were very courteous and respectful. They were able to get my car fixed within a few short hours and I could definitely feel the difference when I pulled my car out of their parking lot. I'll definitely be going back to them for all my car related issues.
I’ve been using Ron’s Automotive for over 15 years and would not even consider using anyone else. They know their stuff! They do a job ONE time and they do it RIGHT. They also use genuine parts. This kind of dependability is very important to me. I run a company that has 12-15 trucks in the field at any given time. My entire operation literally depends upon our automobiles running properly. Anytime I have a vehicle in for service, they will do a once-over and let me know if they see other problems creeping-up. Though shady mechanics in other shops have scammed people selling them useless goods, you truly get the Real Deal if Ron’s Automotive does a “once-over” of your vehicle: whatever Ron says, you can take to the bank!
One of the best automotive repair shops I have ever been to. I've lived all over the country and found only 1 that compares to Norman Automotive, Inc. They are honest, fair and great for my wallet. I always feel great sending my wife there, as I know that she nor I will get taken. I've even priced checked them before on a major service and they came in $200 cheaper than 5 other shops I called and $600 cheaper than a dealer. Great service, great prices and great mechanics. Finding a better full service automotive would be a real challenge and not worth your time when you could just go there. Thank you Norman Automotive for the service, trust and care you give both my car and myself!
Last year I had my AC in my car fixed in Dallas. When I turned the AC on this year to use it was not working. Luckily I was told my parts were still under warranty. I took it in hoping not to pay anything since it was under warranty unfortunately I was told I had to pay for the Freon to figure out where the leak was. I would drive it for a week and come back. I was a little upset because I was not planning on paying that day. So they took off the cost for the Freon they had already put in to my car so I only owed them so looking at it (which wasn't ideal but was still awesome). They had it looked over pretty fast.
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
