This was my first time getting senegalese twist at Alima- wow, what a great experience! I have had my hair braided so many times before but never found the place that I wanted to go back to... until yesterday!!! I absolutely love my braids. Although she got there 20 min late and the place doesn't look the best from the outside, the inside is nice and cozy and the owner and her sister are very nice. They are great team and work hard to get the job done fast. It took about 7 hours to finish and yes it did hurt a little bit but it was so worth it!!!!Nobody ever before took so much time applying all different product to my hair to make sure the final look is perfect. What I also like is that the owner told me at the beginning of the appointment that the price will have to change due to my hair type and length (I am white and have silky, long and thick hair what she wasn't aware of during our conversation on the phone). I had experience in different hair salon that the price has changed from $150 to $300 but the person didn't tell me about it until it was time to pay... not cool... but like I said this women has a class and told me at front. I would definitely recommend Alima to everybody!!

I really enjoy my services at EBJ Hair Studio. I feel welcome and comfortable. The atmosphere is friendly and very professional. Erica does a wonder…
This place is a trip!! I don't know why the owner doesn't just close this place DOWN. They will have a "closed" sign up or a "we'll be back" sign on the door on a regularly scheduled day in a minute! and will go out while you're under the dryer and no one will touch you in the meantime or tell you anything...they definitely don't have enough "good" stylists for the number of customers. On the up side they can do hair pretty decent but its getting to that point is stressful there. Just this past Monday after work I stopped through because that's their "discount" day...I pull up a "sorry we're closed" sign on door. Another normally open Saturday I show up..no sign on the door so I sat thinking they were opening late...finally I looked in their dark window & peered in ALL OF THE CHAIRS was pushed to the middle of the shop floor.Later they said they had painted ok well why theirs no sign so people could choose to go elsewhere immediately. Theyre closer than others is the only reason I go
I really needed my hair done for school and I called the shop and asked when I could come get my hair done. She asked me when I was free, and I was able to come in that next hour to give me time to get there and look in her book of different hairstyles. It took 6 1/2 hours to do my hair. It was not rushed, and normally at most shops they take breaks to eat and leave you waiting for an extra hour. That was not the case she waited to do my hair first before she ate. Also she was very friendly. Most of the braiding places I've been too were a little rude and don't listen to what I am asking for. They did my Senegalese exactly how I wanted and I will be getting my hair done there from here on out.
I had such a great experience at Curl Up & Dye that I had to share The wonderful staff there were very friendly, courteous and professional at all times. My stylist worked with me and gave me exactly the cut I wanted. The prices at Curl Up & Dye are quite reasonable too - I paid a bit less than I did at my last salon and I had a far better experience. NOTE: I was sorry to read about the experiences some reviewers had in the past at Curl Up & Dye - but it MUST be noted that the salon has recently come under new management and it seems these problems are no longer an issue
Exotic Glamour has the best stylists in Hampton Roads. I've tried a couple others and always ended up being disappointed. My stylist is Angel and she does an excellent job. After I get my hair done I always get compliments on how great it looks. I will be honest it is pretty busy (but that is because everyone wants to get their hair done by these talented ladies). The parking situation is pretty rough, and random ppl do come in off the streets (but it is entertaining to me). If you need your hair done, and you want it to look healthy and fly...definitely go here!
The service here is good but it takes forever to get ur hair done. I went to get a sewin at 4 and didn't walk out until almost 8. I've watched a barber cut bout six hairs...another stylist complete two hairs and the stylist that was doing my hair took forever on a hair that was already sewn in jus needed to be styled. On top of that people that came behind me got to go before me because they jus needed a style. A better rotation or a better scheduling of appointments would help this salon be better. Eventually I got my hair done and it looked nice
"A FAMILY AFFAIR HAIR SALON" rates an A+ with me...and here's why...using an acronym format! The Owner, Staff, and Salon are: A- Artistic, Accomplished, Accommodating F- Fierce, Fabulous, Friendly A- Authentic, Adaptable, Affluent H- Heartfelt, Honorable, Hip S- Stylish, Sensational, Sophisticated I have always nicknamed the Owner/My Stylist the "HAIR DOCTOR" because her focus has always been on the "HEALTH" of my hair...not to mention the "FANTABULOUS" hair styles..."Thank You" Dani!!!
I got some poetic justice braids done last week at another shop. ( NOT affiliated with Alima) My braids already started falling out and looked extremely old . They were not done correctfully mot full at all I personally was not going to walk around looking crazy . I got referred to Alima by a customer at my Job a while ago . I called Alima and the next day she had time to help me . She was very fair in her pricing and felt sorry for my situation . My braids are BEAUTIFUL !!! Alima is the best !
Don't like the fact that I have to leave messages just to make an appointment and very rarely get to speak to a live person. The haircut was ok, not what I'd expect for $45. I've tried different stylists Ariel and Aaron and still didnt get the cut that was like WOW. I havent gotten "Where do u get your haircut." So after several cuts to Visions, I think that it's time to find another. Not to mention that I wont have to pay for parking anymore.
This is a place of peace and tranquility. The Beauticians are very skilled and knowledgeable on various hair styles. Even though they prefer you call in to schedule your appointments, they do take walk-in clients. I have known about this place for over 20 years and they have always been on point. I used to get my hair cut there when I was a kid. But the currently don't have any barbers. Good job Edna Parker and to all the beauticians over the years.
