The Newport Fire Department is responsible for the safety of public and property from fire. It specializes in fire suppression and prevention. The department provides 24-hour emergency services. It staffs more than 20 firefighters. The Newport Fire Department s apparatus includes several command vehicles, reserve engines, ladder trucks, rescue wagons and decontamination trailers. It has a fire alarm division that is responsible for the enforcement of fire detection and alarm systems. The department s fire prevention division specializes in performing building inspections. It also offers code enforcement and record keeping solution. Additionally, the fire prevention division is responsible for public fire education. The Newport Fire Department is a part of The City of Newport in Rhode Island.
