This was our second trip to Newport.
Bayberry Inn of Newport was not the least expensive Inn we looked at, but they did have some really beautiful pictures on the website that caught our
attention and turned out to be a great experience. The innkeeper
was a charming host. Her recommendations for dinner at the Black Pearl worked out perfectly and breakfast the next day was excellent. The afternoon tea and a rich chocolate cake really the spot after a full day out. The guestroom we stayed in was newly remodeled and had a jacuzzi right in the corner of the room...fantastic! The location was perfect - walk to everything without the noise of the Thames Street main drag. Fabulous breakfast, cheerful knowledgeable staff, and a beautiful room. Newport is a great get-away and the Bayberry is a real treat!

Traveler beware, I recently had an error in booking a weekend at the Inn, tried to rectify the situation as best I could with no success. They seem to be rip off artists of some sorts. I was charged weekend rates but my confirmation came back for weekday and unitl I checked it before we left for our anniversary weekend, I relaized that they confirmed the wrong dates. Now I should have seen this sooner, but when I brought it their attention they merely sent me their terms and conditions and walked away with my money. The listed weekday rates for only two weeks after the erroneous confirmation were more than 100.00 less per night than what they claim my reservation was at. They claim theur rates fluxuate like airlines. Even airlines do not changed that quickly and to that degree. They ripped me off and will not admit it. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of the Bayberry Inn in Newport.

My husband and I went to Newport a week ago. From reading through the many reviews we chose to stay at the Bayberry Inn of Newport. From the time we first called the Inn to make our reservations to the time we checked out we had a wonderful experience. After making the reservation we received a confirmation email with detailed directions to the Inn, that is very thoughtful touch, (even though we had a GPS) the email included an important note about clarifying Kay Street where the Inn is located and Kay Blvd which was just down the street! It was great to have off-street parking included because we found that many places in Newport parking restricted to local permits only. We were checked in by a lovely woman named Karen. She was wonderful and helped us throughout our stay. Our room was beautiful and very tastefully decorated, something that you might not expect from an old 18th century B & B. I would love to have a bedroom like that in my own house! Our room had one of those memory-foam king beds, TV/VCR, 2 person Jacuzzi, and a FIREPLACE ! The bed was heaven, soooo comfortable. I could have stayed all day in that bed, but I was glad when my husband woke me up for breakfast. Karen had fresh baked muffins, a tasty raspberry breakfast cake and a sour cream coffee cake to die for!!! ( forgot about the diet!) , yogurt parfait , homemade bread for toast. It ended up raining the first night which was not in our plan, but we lucked-out as the parlor happened to have a library of videos, and more than a few classics?. we enjoyed watching ?Breakfast at Tiffany?s? (one of my favorites). We asked Karen about a local spot to pick up a bottle of wine and ended up having her deliver champagne and chocolate right to our room, again not something we really expected at a small Inn but part of what made it a great experience. We will definitely return and would suggest giving the Bayberry a try if you are looking for a fantastic spot in Newport!

I have never in my life been so disappointed or turned off by a B&B as I have by my experience with Bayberry Inn of Newport. We are law abiding citizens and make it a point to be professional, considerate and honest in all our dealings with people. But this B&B did not show us the same courtesy.
The innkeeper actually told me that her manager does not field customer service complaints and that all emails should be directed to her--even complaints about her own person! My family found the staff rude, inattentive, and insensitive to the needs of their guests. We thought a few nights away at a quiet B&B would leave us refreshed and rejuvenated but all we got was frustration. They were unresponsive to our emails and phone calls.
A B&B should be the epitome of hospitality. We prefer B&B's over hotels because hotels tend to be less friendly, with guests being nothing more than a room number. But apparently at the Bayberry Inn, guests are nothing more than dollars that they zip right into their pockets as soon as they can. And after that, your comfort means nothing to them.
The rude staff, their lack of consideration and their unprofessionalism left us wishing we had booked with Route66.
