I am impressed with the Newport Animal Hospital facility. The staff is efficient and compassionate and the Vet Dr. John Giannone has a wealth of knowledge. They have a state of the art facility with in-house lab capabilities. I can now get test results back immediately, without waiting. They are great with their followup and the costs are less than what I was paying before. Glad to see a facility with a skilled Dr and staff in the neighborhood, that cares about my animals as much as I do.

You will not regret making an appointment with Dr Giannone! He is extremely professional, experienced, thorough, and empathetic. I took my little Gracie to Dr. Giannone last Saturday morning because of yet another horrible bladder infection. She's had awful bladder infections for the past year and has had no significant relief despite many visits to other vets. I decided to give Dr. Giannone a try based on the absolutely stellar reviews I've seen and heard regarding him and his staff. It's all true, it's not just hype! Everyone in the office is kind and helpful - I immediately felt at ease. When Gracie and I met with Dr. Giannone, he was extremely thorough and explained everything to me in detail. His high level of experience and skill is very obvious. I left the appointment confident that I'd found the veterinarian that would finally help Gracie get back to her happy, healthy self! I'm already seeing results with Gracie and I'm sure she'll only get better. Don't hesitate to put your pet's care in Dr. Giannone's hands. Once you visit him you wont think of going anywhere else! And by the way, the office is clean and beautiful - I always think that matters!

I can not say enough great things about Dr. Giannone and his professional staff! As a recent dog owner, I was at another vet in town with a large practice, waiting forever in the lobby and being treated as number by the staff. My puppy was misdiagnosed twice and I met another pet owner who told me about Newport Animal Hospital.
From the moment I entered the vets office, I could tell the experience would be professional, warm, inviting and thorough! They treated my dog and me as customers and could not be more helpful or thorough.
Dr Giannone has the most advanced equipment, with a lab on site, so he can perform x rays and blood work ASAP. Within 5 minutes, my puppy received a new and what I found out later correct diagnosis and he is now up and running as he should have been for over a month of the wrong diagnosis.
The staff helped me with my insurance and called to check up on my puppy. No matter the hour of the day or day of the week, Dr Giannone was there for us, and I can only say....DON'T WASTE A MINUTE OF YOUR TIME AT ANOTHER VET IF YOU LIVE IN THE ORANGE COUNTY AREA!!

My ten year old boxer Max is essentially my son. I am therfore as careful about picking a vet as I am a Doc for myself. As of late I have been very disappointed with my own vet and, given Max was due to have some surgery, was very concerned about where I was going to take him.
By coincidence I noticed Newport Animal Hospital that recently opened next to my favorite Starbucks. While checking to see what their hours were I noticied they were opened and stopped in with Max.
I had the chance to meet Dr. ""G"" and his staff and was very impressed with the entire operation. It just so happened they had a cancelation that morning and were able to take Max in that day.
I was blown away how Dr. ""G"" took the time to talk me through the procedure and actually called me just prior to the operation to ask about some other issues. He even took the time to call me afterwards and explain how it went and when I could come and get him.
When I came to get Max Dr. ""G"" showed me what he did while his staff put all the meds together for me.
This is by far the best vet hospital I have ever been to. Thank you Newport Animal Hospital!

We rescued a small dog from a local shelter, and we had never had a pet before. Naturally, I had a million questions the first time I took her to see Dr. Giannone. He and his team were very patient and attentive. I did not feel rushed at all, and I left feeling much better informed. Not only was the information that I received factual, but it was also presented in a genuine way. They were not trying to upsell me. Dr. Giannone was not afraid to say ""You can hold off on that, but I would highly recomment this."" He truly has the pets' best interests in mind. The office is very clean and they have state-of-the-art equipment. A member of the staff called me the next day to follow up, and Dr. Giannone responded to my call himself when I had even more questions. We hope we don't have to visit the vet too often, but when we do, we know it will be the best possible experience.

During a routine walk on Friday May 12th with our dog Cupcake, we noticed that he stopped to try & urinate more often than normal. We watched him for the rest of the walk and noticed that he seemed to really be struggling to urinate every time and only small drops and not a full stream would come out. We took him to our local vet and they took x-rays which revealed that he had at least 5 small stones that showed up in his urinary tract. As our regular vet does not perform operations of this magnitude, they recommended an animal emergency clinic close by for the procedure. We called to discuss an appointment time for the procedure and were told that the cost would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $5000 or more. Well, like all people struggling in this economy, having to sit down and weigh a dollar amount against saving the life of an animal that you've raised, cared for, and love is never an easy task. Ask any animal lover out there & they can tell you exactly what we are talking about and what thoughts we struggled with.
We decided to call around to different veterinary clinics in the surrounding area to see if they could perform the required surgery necessary to save Cupcake's life. When we called Dr. Giannone's office at the Newport Animal Hospital in Newport Coast and explained everything to him, we knew by his answers that he was an answer to the prayers we were offering up to God. Dr. Giannone quoted us a much more reasonable dollar amount which was so incredible that it made the decision to go ahead with the operation and not look back. We took Cupcake to Dr. Giannone's office at 21157 Newport Coast Drive and you could just feel the compassion that his entire office shared for the animals that they care for. From his receptionist greeting us so warmly when we came in, and so sensitively going over all of the costs involved (as well as the many, many costs we would be saving), to Dr. Giannone's warm & friendly personal consultation with us, we knew immediately that we had come to the right place for Cupcake's care.
He explained the difficult procedure he would have to perform, told us exactly what the after care would be required by us when we took Cupcake home, and made several personal phone calls himself over the weekend to see exactly how Cupcake was doing. When you love your animals as much as we do, they are not pets, but more realistically family members. And when one of them is injured, you worry and suffer right along with them until they are better. We know that if there is ever another issue at all with any of our pets, we will immediately take them to Newport Animal Hospital so they'll get the necessary care along with the love and compassion that we give them at home!
I was visiting my parents in Orange County when Cupcake needed his surgery. I live on the Marine Base in Twentynine Palms. I have called Dr. Giannone almost everyday with questions and concerns about Cupcake, and he has never made me feel like I'm being a bother. He is always so kind and takes my call any and all times I call him. He is so kind, I only wished I lived closer so I could bring both my dogs to him all the time!
Thank you Dr. Giannone & staff! Cupcake is recovering slowly, but very comfortably at home!
