Poor customer service, sales lady was very pushy! Never received a call back regarding a pair of glasses ordered, tried calling again and said manager would call back the next week and never did. Unimpressed and will not be going back!
I've never written an online review before, however, my experience with Aucello was so stellar this morning that I want to share. I broke my glasses yesterday (Saturday) and started a mad scramble to get an eye exam (had been over a year) and get new glasses. I have a trip to France in a week, only 6 days of old daily contacts to wear and horribly ugly / old backup glasses... I went to the "About an Hour" place in the mall as I always have, but discovered they don't take my new eye insurance (VSP). I went on my insurance website and found that Aucello in S. Windsor was open on Sundays. I send an email around 9pm Saturday night via their website appointment scheduler, hoping for a callback in the am. To my utter surprise, I received an email back within five minutes from April, offering to schedule me for 11am Sunday morning (how cool is that!!!). I had my eye appointment with Dr. Sheen who was very friendly and competent. She picked up on some UV damage with my eyes and recommended helpful hints to prevent it from becoming an issue long-term. The two women working the counter were extremely customer service oriented. They helped me get set up quickly (I was five minutes late) and gave me a container to hold my contacts which I totally forgot to bring. I had already found a pair of Ray-Bans in the mall store that I really liked. GJ (not correct spelling) who runs the Aucello glasses shop in South Windsor helped me try to find a similar pair from their available stock, and when we couldn't (I have a big head and need wide frames...), she not only offered to order the frames I knew I liked but agreed to put a rush on the whole process so I could ensure I get them before I leave for France next week. Without boring you with all the details, I tend to be finicky and slightly "value focused" (interpret as super frugal). GJ went way above and beyond to help me. I have NEVER experienced customer service like they provided anywhere, whether it be the eyeglass chains or small shops. I live in Southington but will gladly drive the half hour to them without thinking twice. They have truly earned my business. As a final note, they can actually finish glasses / lenses in an hour or so if they have them on hand. I didn't realize this was possible other than in one particular mall chain and was pleasantly surprised. While I didn't get my glasses this morning because they have to order the frames, this is the only reason I will be able to get the actual glasses I want in time for my trip to France. They have earned a very happy and loyal long-term customer.
