i recently entrusted economy cleaners to clean a wool coat of mine, and i was disappointed to find that they damaged three of the buttons. the buttons were in perfect condition before economy cleaned the coat. after being told by a counter employee "there's nothing we can do, these things happen" i asked to speak to the manager. the counter person also added something to the effect that "you had a better chance with me, i'm the nice one" ok. i explain the situation to the manager, who repeats what the counter person initially told me. i explain patiently that the buttons were not damaged until i brought them to her establishment, and asked did she cover the buttons before dry cleaning the coat. she again replied she could do nothing for me, she suggested they protect and cover "some buttons" (but not my buttons) and made the analogy when i (the customer) wash clothes and buttons get damaged "those things happen" and in that case i would be responsible for replacement. i replied that yes, i would be responsible because i washed it. i told her she is responsible in this case because SHE cleaned the coat and the damage to the buttons occurred in her care, not mine. i suggested a compromise. i will find and pay for a replacement set of like buttons, and the cleaners sew them on. she refused, and conceded to offer to just sew on the most damaged button after i found a replacement. (the coat has six buttons, she damaged three buttons to varying degrees). i suggested i will try to find and exact match for the three damaged buttons and have the cleaners sew them on. she refused. i pleasantly reminded her that i was a long time customer of hers (over 20 years), i wasnt being inflexible in this situation, and that even though she damaged my buttons i offered a compromise-- to go out and seek replacement buttons and pay for said buttons. my pleas for a amicable solution were met with a resounding "no" as she walked off. bad dry cleaning and even worse cust service!
Above all, stay away and find another cleaner. The one star is for the employees, which were very friendly even though they ruined my clothes. The owner, on the other hand, doesn't even deserve one star. He is the nasty, older bald man and yes, he is just as miserable as he looks. First, I was mischarged by almost $20. Next, two of my items of that order were stained and damaged. Finally, one of the items was STAPLED to the hanger/receipt. His excuse? "We're not responsible for damages and I already lost you as a customer so you're not getting a refund." After being blamed by the owner for his mistakes and persisting with my argument, he finally agreed to refund me for one blouse and one dress. However, this nasty man even discounted my refund. Seriously, stay far away unless you want your clothes ruined and multiple headaches.Overall:•Extremely rude and malicious owner•Consistently damages multiple items•The customer is blamed then left responsible for the business's mistakes•Find another cleaner
This is a great dry cleaners. Our clothes come out looking and feeling great and the staff is very friendly and accomodating. Keep up the good work! RJR
Just moved to this area. Because of my job I do a lot of dry cleaning often. I found this one here on YP- I saw a few bad reviews but tried it anyway since its literally on my way to work. So far it's been great- actually better than my old place. Figured I'd leave a review to let you know that. Hope it's helpful.
I have been using this cleaner for quite some time, since I moved to the area a few years ago. I've never had any bad experiences here. I thought I would submit a review though because the last few times I came the staff were extremely good to me, I had one issue with a favorite dress that I truly thought was ruined and they not only seemed extremely knowledgeable but they also saved my dress! They also helped me with an issue I had with a fastener on another shirt of mine. I don't review many businesses but they really went above and beyond for me. And I have never had the experience of anything coming back to me damaged in the past few years either. I highly recommend them! Maybe they had a different staff in 2012?
BEST DRY CLEANER!!I work in Manhattan and live in Newburgh. I bring all of my things to American Cleaners and have always had a great experience. The customer service is great, my clothes are always clean, well pressed and packaged as I've requested and everything is always on time. I'm a very happy customer!!
I WILL NEVER USE THIS DRY CLEANER EVER AGAIN. THEY RUINED 2 BRAND NEW EXPENSIVE SILK SHIRTS I NEVER EVEN GOTTEN TO WEAR, THAT I DROPPED OFF TO BE DRY CLEANED, I CAME IN WITH THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT SHOWING I HAD DROPPED THEM OFF TO BE CLEANED AND IT WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH, THE "OWNER" WAS UNPROFESSIONAL AND ACCUSATORY CLAIMING I HAD NEVER BROUGHT THE SHIRTS IN EVEN THO I HAD A RECEIPT PROVING SO. I DIDN'T NOTICE THEY NEVER PUT TAGS ON THE SHIRT AFTER DRY CLEANING THEM AND I AM NOW THE ONE OUT $138 PER SHIRT! ALWAYS CHECK YOUR CLEANING OVER FOR DAMAGES AND FOR A LITTLE TAG THEY ATTACH PROVING THEY CLEANED THE SHIRT BEFORE LEAVING THE PREMISES SO THEY CANNOT DO THIS TO YOU! BETTER YET USE ANOTHER DRY CLEANERS WITH MORE PROFESSIONAL STAFF!
They ruined two brand new shirts and we called them and they never called us back!
