I brought my car to Newark car car to change my head gasket. They change the head gasket but when I came to pick my car up, the engine was knocking. Knocked so bad that the car cut off on me. They claim they didn’t touch then bottom end of the engine but they obviously damaged it because my engine wasn’t knocking when I brought my car in. I basically paid $950 for them to ruin my car! Now I need a new car. They talk a good game but their work is horrible.
This place is good for simple things like oil changes and getting tires rotated. If you have a foreign car, or a problem with your car that is difficult to figure out, however, you will have better luck elsewhere. The people here are not intentionally trying to screw you out of money, but the mechanics do not have the experience necessary to take on difficult jobs. Basically, my car wasn't starting, I spent almost a thousand dollars over a few months, and at the end of it I still have a car that wont start. I must have brought the car in at least four times. The first time it worked for about two months. Then it wouldn't start again. I brought it back, and they found another problem. Over the next month, they proceeded to "fix" the same part, and every time it would work for a few days to a week, and then stop. Instead of telling me they weren't able to figure out what the issue was, they just kept replacing the same part. One time I went to pick up my "fixed" vehicle, and it wouldn't even start from their shop. Again, I do not think that these are bad people, just not the right people to take a difficult job to. They were always very nice to me, but at the end of the day I am left more in debt and without a working vehicle.
Classic bait and switch. I was quoted a labor fee of $225 last week for swapping out leaf springs and then when I brought my truck in this morning was told the labor was going to be $380. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! A friend gave me this warning last week and now I know what he means.
This place may be the worst place to take your car to get it fixed. I went in for an oil change and to fix my brakes. Got the car the next day to drive it home and oil leaked everywhere and my engine ended up blowing out. I cant even tell you about the job on the brakes because I barely got to drive it. Owner said it was only half his fault as I am supposed to notice oil leaking out the bottom of my car as I am driving. Not his fault for not putting the oil plug back on so that the oil wouldnt leak. My car is now not in driving condition and I basically lost a car because of an oil change. I WILL NEVER BRING MY CAR BACK TO THIS PLACE. I HOPE OTHER PEOPLE SEE THIS AND DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS I DID. HE DIDNT EVEN CARE THAT MY CAR WAS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR AND HE WANTED ME TO PAY HIM MORE MONEY TO FIX IT. HELL NO!
One of their drivers almost hit me pulling onto 280E and had the nerve to flip me off as he almost plowed into the side of my vehicle. I called to complain and got voice mail. Completely unprofessional. I would NOT recommend this service to anyone. Unsafe and rude.
RUDE. I called to see if they had a rollback truck and they mumbled something then hung up on me. Don't think I'll be calling them again.

Carlos charged me 702 dollars for a disconected relay and he stated that I needed work done to my car that I did not need. I told him to hold the car he hurried and fixed it so he could charge me the money I had to make him put it back and put it on the street he charged me over 100 dollars for a fake diagnostic because he said there was something wrong with my front end and if I drove it I would have an accident i and storage for 2 days the next two days a mechanic from Jersey city went to Newark and fixed my car and brought it back for 100 dollars and said that there was nothing wrong with my front end ,Carkis think women are stupid and he tried to rip me off ..beware
***WARNING PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING TO THIS SHOP.***First, I personally went to this shop for roughly 1 year. I bought a car that had a few minor issues, 1 being a valve cover gasket leak. After this shop repaired this issue I took my car to a dealership and paid for a complete diagnostic. The report showed a few minor items that I was aware of. Within the next few months I continued to take my vehicle to this shop, oddly enough more and more parts were starting to malfunction after each visit. By end of summer and thousands of dollars later I started to noticed the pattern. I drove my car to my old mechanic whom inspected the repairs along with doing a few of his own to it. He noticed several issues and validated my assumption that this shop is SHADY and are NOT honest mechanics. Also, it's worth noting that I had brought another vehicle to this shop. A simple kit replacement that involved a water pump and its components. The second vehicle also came back with even more malfunctioning issues. Furthermore, I showed him an area he had broken, he went ahead and fixed the issue. Had I not had knowledge of working on vehicles I would've dished out several hundreds of dollars to fix what they did. After this I stopped going to them, along with them refusing to give me a proper receipt for the repairs. When I did get a receipt, the receipts were always unreadable. Most of the time I had to wait months before a proper/readable receipt was provided. You would think that now my vehicle would be running better than when I first got it. Especially after thousands of dollars being invested into this vehicle. However, that's far from the truth, my vehicle is still having issues. Some from the very beginning. I've had to do a lot of repairs on my own. Mostly to correct the issues this shop has caused to my vehicles. This does not include the normal wear and tear that the vehicle goes through.
