I have tried to have dinner at this restaurant 3 different times. The 1st time, I got to the restaurant at 8:30 & the door was already closed. There were no hrs posted on the door so, I didn't think much of it. The 2nd time, I was meeting a friend in Newark. I called to ask what time they closed & I was told 9pm. My friends & I got there at 8:45pm & it was again closed. I called from outside & was told ""we closed at 8:30pm today"". I was meeting a few friends again in Newark & they convinced me to give El Burro another try. One of our friends was inside the restaurant when we got there at 8:40pm. He came out to the door to tell us they were closed. I was upset because I couldn't believe that this was happening. I asked the lady that was upfront ""what time do you close?"" she said ""we are closed now"". I asked her ""what time do you NORMALLY close?"" She answered ""we are closed now"". She was very rude. I asked her again the closing time and she said ""9"". I tried to tell her that it was 8:43pm & she said, ""we are closed"". I told her, ""but, it's not 9pm"". She said, ""it doesn't matter, we are closed"". In all my 17 years in customer service, I had never been talked to or treated this way. I asked for a manager & she responded ""I'm the manager"". I couldn't believe that a restaurant like this would have a manager with such poor service skills. I asked her for her name & she refused to give it to me. Again, I couldn't believe the this manager was answering in this manner. I guess I can't expect much from a manager who is not very professional. That goes to work wearing a pancho and flip flops. We went outside to leave. There were 2 couples that went in while we were in the parking lot and also came out upset that it was closed and not 9pm. Needless to say, I will never step foot into this restaurant. Specially with a manager that has no sense of good customer service and is allowed to make her own closing hour withought acknowledging that customer are not always local. .

Walking into this restaurant I had very high hopes, it is the best Mexican restaurant decor I have ever seen. My hopes were immediately shattered as soon as I sat down. The food was horrific. My chicken burrito was basically just chicken pot pie mix in a tortilla. Just because you wrap something in a tortilla does not make it Mexican food. The watered down drinks did nothing to change my mind about this place. Avoid this restaurant at all cost.

I can't comment on the burritos as I have never had them here. I have, however, had the quesadillas, flautas, enchiladas, carne asada, and the like. You wouldn't normally get a burrito or taco at a place like this if you are looking for authnetic Mexican food. For that you go to a taco stand or resturant like El Grullense in Redwood City. My fiance is full blooded Mexican and he loves this place. The beans are homemade and the salad with house dressing is VERY good! We never get mixed drinks, only Coronas and the plates are VERY large and FULL of food. And you definitely get your money's worth here! They need to hire a few more waiters/waitresses but this little old man that is always there is very nice!
