We had a wonderful dining experience! The entire staff, from coat check to our very pleasant waiter, made this an unforgettable experience. Sardi's was recommended by a close friend and long time patron, and I am so glad we chose to take his advise. Our meal was delicious. The soup (shrimp) was an and excellent appetizer and the bread selection made it very difficult to make a choice, they all looked so good. (I have to admit that I did have a taste of my son's selection.) My main course was the crab cakes and, though they were excellent, I wish that I had chosen a more unique main course. However, I was extremely pleased with the taste of my salad that accompanied my main course. My mother chose the scallops which were both aesthetically pleasing and per my mother, extremely flavorful and delicious. Although we do not usually have dessert and we were quite satisfied, we did share a Creme Brule, and again I was so happy that we did! Creme Brule is one of my favorite desserts and the chef prepared it perfectly. I was extremely appreciative of the consideration made and patience by many in my daughter's diabetic nutritional needs. We do not get to travel often as a result of my daughter's new diagnoses, and have received resistance from other restaurants to requests for carbohydrate counts. Finally, the atmosphere was even more than I expected, having been prepared by my friend. It was warm and welcoming and I think that I actually smiled throughout my entire visit. Sardi's made our trip to New York that much more enjoyable and hopefully I will be able to get to New York in the near future and visit your restaurant once again.
This is an excellent restaurant serving quality American cuisine in an atmosphere inspired by the early 20th century architects Greene and Greene (wood accents with softly rounded corners, beautiful joinery). The food is generally of superb quality using fresh ingrediants, locally grown as much as possible. The menu changes with the seasons and always includes nightly specials. The soups are always wonderfully flavorable with a standout being a tomato based gazpacho enlivened with a scoop of lump crab meat salad. Other appetizers range from a fresh seafood platter (for 2) to meaty, falling off the bone spare ribs. Main courses feature fish, meat and pasta selections, usually served with flavored foams, reductions and vegetables. There is always a fish special and a meat special which I usually end up ordering one of these because they are always superb with unusual and very satisfying combinations of flavors. Desserts are uniformly well presented and delicious with the possible exception of the lemon tart which suffers from a leaden crust. My only criticism of the desserts is that sometimes they can go a little overboard, adding a superfluous scoop of intensely chocolate brulee to an otherwise excellent sour cream cheese cake.
We had a terrific time here at this brand new place, The chef from the knife+fork working with the friendly atmosphere made a surprise walking in off the street. The braised ribs and the porkbelly was mouthwatering, luvvvv it!
We had a wonderful meal. The service was superb. The view of the center right out the window. Will definately come back. - Gourmet-lovers
This restaurant is "old New York" and really caters to the theater crowd. In and out in time for the show with special Broadway menu items.
Try the Sauerbraten with red cabbage and "real" German home fries. Out of this world.
Great food and atmosphere! Perfect for a dinner date or brunch.
