Find another dentist! To begin, the reception staff are not the most professional or courteous. They'll leave you on hold for what seems close to eternity.
Specifically, I had a barely visible chipped front tooth. The dentist suggested I get a crown to that and the adjacent front tooth to "enhance" my smile. That was the worst medical decision I've ever made!
The surrounding gums became inflamed after the treatment to the point where the had to be surgically excised. The treating dentist and oral surgeon both agreed by teeth and gums were "healthy" and they didn't know why I had the inflammation. Surgery only remedied the inflammation for a month or two. In addition the crowns both fell out. The temporary adhesive used on one finally loosened a year later - today, Sunday, of all times.
I went from having a confident smile even with the chipped tooth to be overly self-conscious and hating my smile. I have been traumatized by this experience and afraid to get dental care now! This after months of back-and-forth to their office and spending about $4,000.
I do not recommend Universal Dental.
On January 19, 2013 I went for consultation for dental implants. I was treated by doctors Jerry Lynn, DDS and Robert Winnegarden, DDS.
List of irregularities I encountered during my visit:
Dr. Jerry Lynn who treated on the above date was not licensed
Universal Dental requested a loan on my behalf without proof of my identification.
Universal began treatment without collateral such as an initial deposit, credit card payment or bank check.
They performed two dental implants in tooth number four and five an prescribed Amoxicillin 500mg and Ibuprofen 800mg
The prescription pad used was under a different doctor not the one who performed the dental implants.
The implants used on teeth 4 and 5 were discontinued???
I was exposed to unsanitary conditions even though I had noted medical conditions in the patient's medical history forms.
After experiencing the above, I discontinued treatment at Universal Dental Implant Center. In the past known as Tooth Savers.
My experience opened my eyes to the fact that some ads are bogus related to prices and also the small printed information that is not clearly visible. The end footnotes.
I consider mandatory for us CHECK CREDENTIALS AND REPUTATION of the clinics and the dentists. According to the law, the clinics and the dentists must follow standard procedures to treat patients.
The experience with Universal Dental affected me, physical, emotional and economic.
I paid them the amount of $ 7,700.-
Universal is also called Toothsavers. They ruined my teeth. Horror Show. They take all of your money upfront and literally shove and I mean shove your new teeth regardless of whether they fit or not. They are the most sued dentist in NYC. Run away! Note that 2 of the 3 positive review on this site were written by MLYNN. MLYNN is Mitchell Lynn who is the owner of this horror show.
BEWARE!!! This is the worst place ever. Going on 4 years, on my 6th set of "final porcelain Product"; the Hollywood Smile they promised is yet to be seen. They switched their name from Tooth Savors to Universal Dental cause all the lawsuits and gimmick they have going on at this business.
I went to Toothavers after visiting several dentists. I was recommended by a friend. I should have gone to them right away. the price quotes I got for an upper permanent bridge was laughable. Toothsavers gave me a very reasonable quote. I financed my treatment over one year with no interest. The bridge is lovely, comfortable and esthetically pleasin as I could have ever wanted. I am thrilled with my results. pass the word.
