Always wonderful food

My wife and I have been dining here for several years.
We travel to the city from Danbury, CT several times each year to see Broadway shows, concerts and the opera.
Everytime we travel to the city we dine at Trattoria Trecolori.
Philip, Marco and Victor are excellent managers and the waiter staff is absolutely superb.
MJ, Tony, Joey, Alberto and the rest are professional and always treat us like family.
The food is consistently excellent.

excellent - lives up to the hipe!

Romantic - as well as great food. Wonderful, casual, perfect before a play, but make reservations. Everything is fabulous! Give it a try, you will not be sorry, and the wine selection is out of this world.

Tourist Trap

Went here after the theater with a friend upon reading all the great reviews. Bread was good. Salad wilted. Entre hardly edible. Sorry. This is a tourist trap. Go to Carmines if you have to eat in the theater district.

Great Food, Exceptional Service

My sister and I were in town for the weekend. This restaurant was recommended by a NYC resident after we had already made dinner reservations following a Broadway show. We stopped in for a light lunch before the show and were so impressed, we cancelled our previous dinner reservations and returned for dinner. The food was great and the owner and staff were very friendly. The waiters were well dressed and were very creative in their presentation of the desserts which were delicious.

So awesome we went back after the show for dessert and were not disappointed.

can't wait to go back!!

I was so impressed with this resturant! We were persuaded to dine at this resturant, a decision I will not ever forget or regret!! the wait staff was very helpful. I had a terrible time deceiding what to have and MJ suggested that I have half of both of my choices!! MJ helped with decisions all the way from drinks to deserts. At the end of the evening experience we told MJ that they needed to raise their prices!! We couldn't believe how inexpensive for the great service, and wonderful atmoshere! I can't wait until my next visit to NYC to visit our new favorite resturante!!

Terrible Food

The table had olive oil and balsamic vinegar in the center; which tasted terrible. It was obviously a very cheap olive oil. I ordered the gnocchi, which I always enjoy, as its not something I make at home. It was like eating raw dough. It was so chewy and gummy!

We were there with a big group and took some time deciding on out menu choices, the waiter came around several times to take our order and we were not ready. They should know better and wait for your queue, I don't care that its in the theater district.

Best service and wine knowledge in New York

After reading a few reviews on here (esp. the one that said a 15% tip is a great tip.... must be from some cheap euro trash or hick 100% def not someone in the business) I was forced to recap my experience at this amazing NYC spot. I am a true NYC food nut, and love true Italian food. Franks, Max, Lupa?..etc It takes me a lot to get dragged all the way to the tourist trap that is ?Time Sq,? but on this night I was going to see a show with some friends, and we wanted to grab a bite so we meet at 6ish at Trattoria, with no reservation, we grabbed a drink at the bar, and were sat after waiting only a few minutes (BTW the bar has tables and chairs so seating and having a few before dinner worked out well). The waiter was more then attentive, and also helped our group pick a wine for the table, which was a perfect choice. This place was clean, the food was great, and not 1 person in the group had an issue with their food. Again I am a picky eater and was more then happy with my dish.

I would highly recommend this place if you like good Italian food equal to the food served at any of the top rated spots in NYC. I would also again like to thank the staff for making the evening a success, and also making sure we made our show with no issues.

We received unforgivably bad service and extremely mediocre food from this ripoff joint located in the theatre district of NY where they prey upon and rely upon a steady out-of-town tourist walk-in business. Most horrible restaurant I've ever been to, with just terribly rude service and terribly indiscreet service and very very mediocre food. Don't EVER bring anyone here that you respect - the table near us was filled with people from Minneapolis and THEY EVEN got into a angry confrontation with the waiter -- not to go into details but they were right. Do your stomach a favor and avoid this place.

Excellent value in the Theater District

I have been to Trecolori more than a few times and have experienced nothing but an excellent meal and prompt and courteous service each and every time. This restaurant is one of the best values in Midtown with entrees in the $15 - $30 range. You won't be disappointed.

Bad Food, Arrogant Pretentious Service who thinks they are owed something

Don't waste your money, time, and stomach space on this place. The place is bad from the head guy down to the busboy almost. Saw them complain to somebody about the tip they left; unbelievable. They should be happy to get one percent ! Really the worse restaurant I ever experienced in NY City, though I didn't get sick ...

All the positive postings for this restaurant MUST BE FAKE ! This place is the WORST !

I tell you, the guy who wrote they had an attitude has it right. Besides the snotty and even stupid attitude and demeanor of the wait staff, the food is NOT the best food in the theatre district. Sardi's is MUCH better. Truth is you are better walking out of the theatre district in the cold before eating at this place with its mediocre food and unbelievably rude wait staff. I actually thought it was a joke for a minute and then I realized these guys really have a problem with the whole idea of serving and hospitality. Some people don't belong in the restaurant business.

Worse Restaurant Experience We Ever Had in New York or Anywhere !

Waiter actually had the nerve to come to the table and complain about a 15% tip - in front of our guests! It was humiliating! We refused to increase the tip, and really should have taken it back and reduced it to zero. The whole feeling of the evening was ruined by that waiter - we had bought our friends dinner and theater tickets and parking and now we actually, by some cheap trick of the waiter, actually looked cheap! Tips are optional, and everything above 10 % is generous in the opinion of this ex-waiter. The food and service was fine but by no means flawless. I recommend that you never come here with anyone you care about ! We complained to the manager afterward via the phone, telling him to reduce the tip (not even the bill) to zero - he refused. The attitude is terrible from the top down. Do not eat at this restaurant.

pasta serving size for linguini is more than usual

Ordered the Linguine Neri alla Monsignori and definitely very reasonable for $18.
Homemade black linguini pasta sauteed with fresh shrimp, scallops, squid, little neck clams, and mussels in a light marinara sauce was a pleasure to eat. Bartender was very attentive and made sure everything was good.

K and K

We had such an amazing experience at this place. The food was exceptional and the staff was very attentive. Great for a romantic dinner!

Maybe the best deal in the Theatre District.

First, an admission in the interest of editorial disclosure: I have known the family that owns the restaurant for over 15 years. That being said, this is a great FAMILY OWNED Italian restaurant in the theatre district. Great food at AMAZING prices (given the location) and incredibly friendly service. The new location is amazing, with a great bar area (have now taken to meeting friends for drinks there) and a spacious second floor for private events. If MJ is your waitor, trust his suggestions on food and wine....he has never pointed me in the wrong direction. If you are looking for a great meal at affordable prices without the pretensions of other places in Midtown, this is the place.

Wonderful Food & Great Service

I recently hosted a holiday party for my sales and support staff at Trattoria Trecolori. I chose the restaurant after conducting a search on the web and reading the reviews. Marco and his staff were very accomodating in terms of making the arrangements and serving our group at the party. The exposed brick gives the restaurant an old world charm, and the location in the heart of the theatre district could not be more convenient. The best part of our visit however, was the food. It was both delicious and plentiful. I plan on returning to Trattoria Trecolori with family and friends. I highly recommend this restaurant for your next dinner or private party.

Run, Don't Walk, to the Best Italian Restaurant!

Newly relocated and re-opened, this is still the best restaurant in the theater district. I've been going here for 12 years, and the service and quality are impeccable. The very friendly owners greet you and seat you, the waitstaff is ultra-attentive (your water glass is never empty), and above all, their traditional, homestyle-italian-with-a-lttle-umph dishes are consistently outstanding! The icing on the cake is that it's reasonably priced with many options! I recommend the daily specials, but that's because I've already tried all the menu items! If you haven't, best to try everything on the menu first (all-time faves: calamari fritto, pasta carbonara and any veal dish)! But leave room for their fabulous dessert cart, especially the tiramisu and their italian-style cheesecake - both to-die-for! I've referred co-workers, family and friends to Trattoria Trecolori and everyone raves about this place afterwards - not a disappointed tastebud yet! The long wait for their renovation was totally worth it - the new place is beautiful but still cozy (they kept the brick walls!), and they've added a bar area. They have a banquet room too. Just to be safe, I would recommend making a reservation, especially if you're going there pre-theater. Although their new space is bigger than their previous spot on 45th, it fills up pretty fast. Obviously, I'm not the only one who knows about this gem! Great place for large parties and special occasions. Don't miss out on this special experience! I've not tried them for lunch, but I wish I worked close enough to go there every day! Want to impress a colleague or boss, take them here!

Best Little Restaurant in the Theater District

If you've been to all the tourist trap restaurants that everyone typically goes to, and you're ready for ""real"" food at a comparable price, friendly wait-staff and an attentive owner, then you'll be happy here.

I've been to this restaurant on three separate occasions, twice as a couple and once with a party of 10. Each time the food has been right on the spot and the service exceptional.

Typically we have not had to wait, even during the theater crush times, but it is a small restaurant so i wouldn't count on that.
