Trader Joe's is the only place in these times to shop. Where else can you feed a family of 2, 4, 6 or 8 for less than $6.00 per person. I made a soup which I call Trader Joe's Black Bean Soup that lasted 5 days.. every ingredient except for one spice (thank you Fairway) was Trader Joe's

I love this place, but the lines are ridiculous! A line down the block to shop after work? I get it, it's a small place and it has delicious goods. If I were you, I'd time the shopping a bit better. Maybe do it on the weekend during the day time. otherwise I love everything Trader Joe's has to offer. They have the nicest staff but my shopping experience is usually uncomfortable, bumping into people, saying sorry, shuffling, etc.

I know that sounds dramatic, but its the honest truth. When I first heard of it, I didn't even know what it was and why everyone was making such a big deal about it. I started shopping there and now i do around 90% of my shopping there. Everything is CHEAP and its the best way to eat healthy. I buy prepackaged frozen vegetables, they have all different packs so I can get a few options, I add some of their teriyaki or red curry sauce, sautee it all in a wok and in 10 minutes I have an amazing meal. I also started buying their frozen packs of berries. Strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. I throw them in the microwave to thaw, toss in one small yogurt and its better than an ice cream sundae. Almost everything I buy there (except for cashews) cost around $2.99. The staff is always cool and the selection is great. My ONLY complaint is that the line can be INSANE, which drives me crazy, it literally can run around the store. Typically, I'll go with my fiancee, and one of us will stand in line while the other does the actual shopping so we can save time. I've never been into the wine store so I couldn't tell you about that. Never did I imagine that I could eat fresh, healthy, organic products for that price. I tell all my friends and coworkers to start shopping there. Long Live Trader Joes!
They carry a good selection of excellent wines, including some from local Long Island wineries and some from their own house brand. You can find most any type of wine you're looking for though admittedly they don't carry a wide variety of brands. Still though if you're looking for some good wine at very low prices you'd be hard pressed to find a place as good as Joe's.
The selection at Trader Joe's rivals that of any gourmet supermarkets in the city but with competitve prices that match many wholesale sellers. They offer an excellcent selection of quality meats and cheeses, an extensive option of organic products of all kinds. The service is topnotch, with all the workers being very helpful, friendly, and even funny. The only real downside is the constant crowds and having to manuever through an endless swarm of people and the long lines that follow. But it's a small price to pay for such a premium selection and low prices.

The selection of cheapies is unsurpassed, but the cashiers are....weird. There's no other way to describe it, though if I had to choose a few other adjectives 'condescending' 'pretentious' and 'fake' come to mind. Don't let it stop you, though, because the bargain is worth the agony of the checkout staff.
