Stress Free Manageable Hair

Six weeks ago, I decided to treat myself to a Keratin treatment and made an appointment at the prestigious Ted Gibson salon. For years I tried hair straighteners' but they can cause havoc on your hair. Eric Rosado, stylist administered the Keratin treatment. His warm caring nature made me feel at ease. A knowledgeable and passionate stylist Eric ensures that his clients needs are met. The Keratin treatment leaves your hair soft, silky and touchable. I would definitely go back and recommend this treatment to my friends for every girl wants stress free manageable hair.

Awesome!!

I have gone to Eric Rosado for years now, and I loooooooove him!! He's got a great energy, and an intuitive understanding that heads are 3D, not 2D!! He's a REAL hairstylist!! And moreso, a REAL cutter!! I have long jet black asian an black hair, so it's not easy to deal with, but he stands by my decisions to keep it ""natural,"" which I appreciate. lol He really is awesome!! I also love Jan Marie for color!! They are both amazing!! DO IT!!!!

See Eric for an amazing CHEMICAL-FREE Keratin Treatment!

Ladies, listen up!

Do you want smooth, sexy hair that will LAST all summer long? Well, now is the time to get it!

Now, the main question is: How does one get this hair? How can I make sure that the treatment is free of toxic chemicals?

I have the answer!

Eric Rosado!! You must see him at Ted Gibson Salon located in the FlatIron District on 5th and 23rd (184 5th Ave).

He IS my secret weapon. Not only does Eric give an AMAZING cut and blow-dry..he also treats your hair to a keratin treatment that is not only safe, it smells like green apples!!!

My hair smelled so wonderful and has stayed so silky smooth. I can’t say enough about Eric or this treatment.

It’s almost Memorial Day so summer will be here before you know it. BOOK NOW and your hair will be good to go all summer.

And if you are REALLY daring, Eric is also a master Great Lengths extension specialist.

So if you like my hair...even just a little...know it was ALL TED GIBSON. They WILL make you feel and look pretty. Their motto is Beauty is individual.

You’ll be treated like a celebrity from the moment you walk through the door.

We may not all be Beyonce or Anne Hathaway (just a few of their many celeb clients), but for a few hours, we sure will feel like them. And have Hollywood hair when we leave the salon!

So there you have it. My secret weapon—Eric Rosado. You’ll love him from the moment you meet him. ;)

My favorite hair salon in the city!

I'm so suprised someone said they had a bad experience. First of all, this is probably one of the most affordable high end salons in the city. I had partial highlights done for about $100, and the haircut about $100 too. They did an EXECELLENT job. The guy that cut my hair did it dry, and it's the best haircut I've had in the city. I've been to Bumble and Bumble, Red Door, Cutler, and Warren Tricomi to name a few....all in the name of a quest to find a great place. I finally found it. Beyond this, everyone is so friendly. There is no snobbery in this establishment. Everyone I spoke to went above and beyond, and they have a loyal customer in me now.

I went to the salon for the fi...

I went to the salon for the first time in July. Devin (Ted's protege) cut my hair, and Ronnie D did the color and highlights. I showed them both a picture of the cut I wanted, and inquired about adding highlights. Ronnie did the highlights perfectly considering I had my hair colored before I received the cut. The cut, color and highlights look wonderful. I went from long hair to a short style and Devin was patient and considerate about taking up the length. He also took extra time with the appointment. I was also offered a complimentary hand massage, which was wonderful. I will continue to visit the salon. All services were professional and everyone was warm and friendly.

GOT LIED TO, BAD HAIR & BURNED! JUST DON'T GO!!!

Hidden charges had me paying almost $2,000 for one appointment alone. I didn't mind paying that much because I want my hair to look great but I was unhappy with the results and patches of my hair started falling out immediately. I called them to discuss what they could do to help. They then basically stood me up for my ""repair"" appointment by being completely unprepared. They told me they would call me once they figured out what they were doing but never called me back. I waited a few days for them to call me but no one did so I called them again and they started blaming me for being unsatisfied. Ted Gibson then called me personally and said, ""It seems we just can't make you happy."" I tried to explain that they hadn't yet followed through on the ""repair"" work but he told me to go find another salon. It really freaked me out and made me cry because I spent so much money and a famous guy was making me feel like I don't matter and I'm worthless. Just don't bother going here. They have an image they want to maintain and unless you are incredibly famous, you will be poorly treated no matter how much money you are willing to spend.

Worst!

Similar to the review below, Jason Backe turned my hair orange. It was shocking and nothing that I asked for, especially since I brought several photographs with me that I showed to him. He also seems to be really off mentally, he wasn't interested in being quiet while he worked, he raved about his recent plastic surgery procedures even though my only interest during my appointment was my own hair! When he finished, and my hair was orange, he claimed not to see it at all. It was really crazy. I had my hair cut by Liam who was so odd and paranoid, he made ME uncomfortable. He was also rude and didn't really deliver much of a haircut. Then he sulked about and made faces and gossiped obviously with other salon employees. Really unhappy, odd dude. This place is terrible. Don't go there!!!!!!! They will ruin your hair.

In all fairness...

This place is simply fabulous. My stylist was Eric and he gave me a beautiful cut and styling. I have long thick hair and stylists usually chop into it to make it manageable. This was certainly not the case at TG. I was also treated to a wonderful hand and arm massage, which included the use of hot towels. So nice. Everyone is super sweet and friendly. I went only for a cut, but in the past years, I had my color done here. The experience was always A +. The only reason I fell of off the TG wagon was because my work schedule interferred with my appointments. I truly think there was a mass exodus of employees (for whatever reason) and thereby it created the negative reviews. Not sure, but give this place a try. You honestly will love it. P.S.- You can get a terrific cut with wonderful styling for approx. $95.00 and experience the TG magic. Not too bad for Manhattan standards!

Really bad!

My hair turned orange!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (especially the roots) and the worse is that the hair colorist (Jason) was bragging about how great the color looked! While doing the color, he was saying that it definitely won't look brassy, ummmm, ok... well it did!!! Now I have to have it fixed. Will NOT go back there!

Why A Visit To Ted Gibson Is A MUST!

I felt it necessary to stick up for TG & Co while reading a negative review here and there (while it's very rare.) Not only do you feel like a catered princess as soon as you walk off the elevator (the guest coordinating staff always in smiles), but you leave feeling like a Queen! Recently I got my hair color done with Jan Marie and cut with Sade and let me tell you---the absolute BEST two services I have ever received in my life! Not only do they seem to be trained as highly skilled individuals, but both listened to exactly what I wanted and I got everything I wanted and more!

The associates give you amazing scalp and hand massages while you sip on your choice between water, coffee, or cappuccino! YUMMY! I've also met both Ted and Jason---who are two of the most amazing people in the industry. You instantly feel beautiful around them!!

PLEASE READ!! DO NOT TRY THIS SALON!!

I would like to share my experience at the Ted Gibson Salon so no one else falls victim to my mistake. I have never written a review before but felt compelled to write this after my experience at Ted Gibson. As a fan of the television show ""What Not To Wear,"" I had always wanted to experience a haircut with Nick Arrojo but he was ALWAYS too busy to get me in. You can imagine my excitement when I was able to get right in for a visit at the Ted Gibson Salon with Jason and Ted, the new ""Celebrity Stylists"" on ""What Not To Wear."" I was not necessarily looking for a ""make-over"" however, I was definitely excited about the possibilities of a new look. My visit began with a consultation that felt almost invasive.... Jason, the colorist / husband / laughing hyena with those teeth, spent the whole appointment laughing abrasively in my ear as he worked on my hair. If by ""new look"" Ted Gibson wanted me to have red hair that was cut shorter on one side than the other with colored eyebrows that did not match, then I received what his vision was. Money was not necessarily an issue with my visit but I certainly do not like to throw my money away. I have learned to be more patient. I will wait for you Nick Arrojo. PLEASE HELP ME!!

Love It!!

I've been going to Ted Gibson for about a year now. The first time I heard of the salon was because I'd heard Ted was the hairstylist to Angelina Jolie, but I was sort of intimidated because I imagined it would snotty or pretentious -- not the case at all!

The salon itself is quite small and intimate, and the decor is modern, yet warm. You are greeted immediately when you get out of the elevator, and Ted and Jason can often be seen in the salon when they aren't travelling. (Jason has a large station set up in the center of the salon.) They also offer a wide variety of beverages and hand and scalp massages.

From a skill perspective, this team rocks! I see Liam for my cuts, and Jose for my color. Liam is always vibrant and has a very fun-loving personality. He spends time tailoring your haircut to your lifestyle and physical features so you get something that complements you perfectly. Jose is very matter-of-fact, and a perfectionist (which I appreciate!) He is a highlighting genius, and was able to bring my dark Asian hair to gorgeous, sun-kissed strands. Seriously, his highlights are masterpieces in and of themselves.

The pricepoints at Ted Gibson's are pretty high, but are on par with any high-end NYC salon. Also, they do offer loyalty discounts, as well as referral promotions, so that helps alleviate the monetary burden a bit.

I will definitely continue going here again and again!

DWGIELOVER Read This! Best Color Anywhere

I've been going to James for my color for a while now and he is absolutely the best. People usually just assume that I'm a natural blonde, but every once on a while someone asks me. I've even had people stop me on the street to compliment my hair, and they always tell me how beautiful my color is. James is the best colorist at Ted Gibson, and I would never go to anyone else.

As for DWGIELOVER, I hope you see this, James is a gifted colorist. He specializes in natural looking color for women of class. The fact that you left the salon looking different than you look when you color your hair in your bathroom sink is a good thing. Just because James doesn't do fake trashy color doesn't mean you should tell people he's a bad colorist. I have never seen James act unprofessionally on a single occasion, and neither have any of my friends who use him. James is spectacular colorist and he never pushes products or services which you don't need. For the record, a gloss which you seem to think is ""cr*p"" actually conditions your hair, seals in the color to prevent it from fading, and leaves your color looking even and natural. Just because you can't afford his services, doesn't mean that he isn't a great stylist. He is worth every penny!

Just Not the Same Anymore

I used to be a loyal client of this salon. The prices were high - but not excessive and the quality of the work was beyond compare. However, slowly but surely, they began losing their best staff (I was heartbroken to see Rachel go). To make matters worse, they began jacking up their prices. $125 for a basic-level stylist? COME ON! And to add insult to injury, its just no longer an inviting atmosphere for clients.

I really loved Ted Gibson at one point but now its gone the way of the stereotypical overpriced NY salon. Sigh.

Best Salon Downtown Manhatten!

My first experience at Ted Gibson was fantastic! I heard about his stylist Jeff through an article in Modern Bride and everything they said about his work was sooo true. He is exceptionally talented and very handsome (huge plus!). The staff was polite and attentive, the price for the haircut was a little more than I wanted to spend BUT well worth it. I am a believer in great customer service and from the complimentary scalp message, to the hand massage with the hot towels and their free delicious drinks (like this amazing european cappucino they offer) have me hooked. The place is chic and yet not pretentious. Oh, and finally although my haircut with the blowdry was $125.00 my stylist Jeff assured me that I would not have to see him for another 12-16 weeks for a shaping and in the meantime if my bangs get to long i can stop in with no appointment for a complimentary trim. Highest Recommendations from a very happy and spolied customer! Thank you Ted, I may not be able to afford your 950.00 haircut but your staff made me feel like i did spend that much bc they were friendly and every bit of the professional. :)

Liam is the best!!

Liam seriously makes me day. He knows exactly what to do from the minute I sit in his chair. He definitely has a flair for the dramatic, but that's what makes going to him so fun!! Not only is he the most skilled stylist I've ever come across, but he is also the most vivacious, that you just can't help but feel amazing from the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out. He is so on point and meticulous with his work -- he always seems to give me the fabulous hair I crave for every time I see him. He is beyond exceptional. Liam Carey is worth all the praise from me and from all those who have been lucky enough to grace his chair. Please do yourself a favor and go see Liam at Ted Gibson!!

Jose is a fantastic colorist

I've been a loyal client of Jose's for some time and decided it was time I gave him a well deserved review. He is a master colorist over at the Ted Gibson Salon, who delivers exceptional results time and time again. I am always so pleased with his professionalism and his ability to make me feel beautiful every time I visit him. His passion for his job shines through and I can attest to his skill simply by all the compliments I get on my color after each visit with him. Jose is truly a superb colorist and I'm glad I have him to count on for amazing hair!
