Hello, I took an component to Technetron Electronics Inc. to be repaired. It was returned to me slightly damaged. I didn't say anything because I really don't like to argue, and I figured it happens sometimes, and that was an expensive piece. The second piece I took to them to be repaired was a McIntosh. When they returned it to me, it had a scratch on it that was not there when I gave it to them. In fact, they tried to cover the scratch up thinking I wouldn't see it, but I did. This time I decided to bring it to there attention. I didn't expect there response was going to be what it was. They started saying that I was lying and "they have never damaged anyones equipment since they have been in business". I thought they were going to handle it in a business like fashion, but boy, was I wrong. These people are quite rude(with the exception of the woman that works their. She is very nice). But the male that works at the counter and the owner, need to practice good people skills. If you want your equipment to be returned to you in the same cosmetic condition as when you gave it to them, I would go somewhere else if I were you. I sure am.
Take care.

Provided by CitysearchI had my Mark Levinson preamp serviced by Technetron, and they did an excellent job in the repairs, in addition to a quick turn around. Great job guys, keep up the good work.

Provided by CitysearchFirst of all I disagree with the review below by Phillipo. You are exaggerating about this completely. I used Technetron for many years and they have been around for many years in business & are a factory authorized McIntosh repair center. McIntosh just doesn't use any random Joe schmoe to fix their products. Let's start by asking you how old is your McIntosh unit??? What really is the condition of the machine?? You have to expect that older equipment does go through wear and tear and certain electrolytic components loose their value over the years like almost any amplifier equipment. Also I believe that you requested an estimate for the repair, which why I can't find why you are shocked to get a call for the diagnoises!!! You also state that the machine has a short-circuit what do you think it just miracelly happened... Obviously the unit has wear and the unit has electrical failure of some sort...
Technetron knows what they are doing, and everyone has the right to shop around. But knowing from experience if you send the unit into McIntosh it very costly for shipping alone, and McIntosh labor rates are also high hourly.... like any older amps labor is costly and very time consuming with amplifiers. I believe that you sir are a scrupulous penny pincher and a wisenheimer..... If you know better than why don't you fix the machine yourself...?? Like any industry when you own expensive items you needtomake sure you can afford both to buy it and have money to fix it. As far as Technetron is concerned they are very honest and have an excellent repair reputation with many high-end audio manufacturers.

Provided by CitysearchThe customer service in the place really isn't great and I suspect the integrity of the pricing. I think they've cornered a market in the city and they overcharge people. I also think they are good at what they do and can fix whatever problem they come up against, but you'll pay for it. Tough to trust these guys.

Provided by CitysearchI brought a McIntosh product in for servicing. I asked to speak to a technician and in walks in a small foreigner with short sleeves looking like he just came out of a session of weight lifting. He didn't understand me and thought I had kept misinterpreting what I said. He looked sort of slimy but I tried to over look this. He tried to look at any and every detail of the product to see how he could point out its's flawws. Luckily the product was in flawless condition except it had short circuited and that was the reason I brought the product in. Bad unscrupulous people exaggerate any flaws. He trying to find something so he could try to fix it and anti up the price. I was surprized. He didn't even inspect the thing for an estimate.
After overlooking this because I needed the product fixed. I knew I may have been making a mistake putting the product in his hands. In a few days, I got a phone call from him which caught me off guard. I felt like I was speaking to some one from the mob. He made me feel that I had to pay the estimate price, which is exhorbantly high or else. He kept telling me about the work he did and It and it turned out that he had found some capacitors, which were about a few dollars each had to be replaced. He had to solder the board he said also. The price was a rip off. I was really afraid of asking this guy something because I am sure he puts people in this position all the time. I spoke with other repair places that charge much less for their professional serive.I am going to try to get the product back, but I am sure he will be ready to say something to warrant me paying a high price. I will be updating this case.
If you want to have a similar or worst experience. Then use these guys, and if you do please warn others after you learned a lesson. That is what I am doing.

Provided by CitysearchI've had two different McIntosh audio electronics repaired here. They were friendly, helpful and their diagnosis was correct the first time. The repairs were delivered on time with no problems or issues.
Highly recommend.
