Not Sure Whats Happened To This Place?

In the last few years this place has gone way down hill.
Used to be a great place to hear music and have coffee or get something to eat. It was a real hangout for many people.

I went in to use the internet and have lunch not too long ago, and was treated very rudely, and it seems they no longer have computers to rent, and there is stuff stored everywhere, very little space to sit and stay.

Theyact like they really don't care, very different from the old location. This is a great loss to the upper east side.

Worst coffee shop on earth

The food, which they force each person to buy in order to sit down, is disgusting and infested with bugs. Forget rude, the staff is actually borderline insane constantly bothering and harassing their customers in a way which is extraordinarily bizarre. This place is a joke, only an idiot would go to Rhors when there are some really cozy awesome diners in the area and there is a starbucks on every block. Seriously the only reason anyone comes here is because they think they are supporting small business, but lol...they even botch that up. Too bad, this place used to be really cool back when it was on 85th street.

Pretentious, Rude, and Expensive

They live by their own motto, where ""coffee is a luxury"". Overpriced and mediocre coffee with rude counter help. I've been here a few times, hoping that each time would be different since I live nearby. Unfortunately, each time has been the same.

You almost feel like you're offending the counter help by even ordering. No smile, no eye contact, nothing. It would be different if you were getting coffee that would make up for it, but it is mediocre at best. The place is pretentious, as if it hopes to be a local coffee shop in a small college town, and if you don't fit that persona, you shouldn't be coming in. Disappointing, and was hoping to like it.

Mixed review

Very nice space, but you can't always count on the employees to be nice. Kind of weird for a coffee shop, which I'd think should be about atmosphere. But if you don't care about that, no worries at all. I go there semi-frequently and get lots of work done.

Most awful service and horrible employees

do not recommend at all. it's simply a bad version of starbucks with major attitude and poor ownership....yikes

True gem in the area

I worked near by and came across that place. i wishe i discovered that place earlier. amazing coffee, never rude cashiers you can get a sit before 1pm at least. better option than starbucks on 85 or 86 which is always crowded.

Nice selection of self serve coffee/teas. A good alternative to Starbucks coffee

I live in the neighborhood and go here about once a week for either a cup of joe (fine selection of many different types of self serve coffee) or a pound of some fresh ground java. While I admit the service is not over the top friendly, I have never been treated rudely or shouted at. I find it hard to believe that of the 15 or so reviews here, ever single person had a miserable experience... seems a tad fishy. If you want a nice selection of coffee and teas at a reasonable price (last I checked they were still WAY cheaper than that other coffee chain with the ""wonderful"" service and ""great"" prices....) check out this place.

this was the worst coffee experience i have have ever had. im an avid coffee drinker and a few friends and i met at this place after an event. i cannot say one good thing about rohrs. my ice coffee which was $6.80 was prepared by the rudest staff i have ever encountered in new york city. the woman behind the counter YELLED at my friends when they asked if the AC could be turned on and then proceeded to tell us that if we were having a ""party"" there, there is a $500 room fee and $500 additional security deposit. since when does a group of friends getting require $1000 advanced payment?? isnt patronage enough nowadays???? we were all paying customers and they treated us TERRIBLY. the finale of this horrendous experience consisted of the man working there telling us to leave because not everyone bought something and this was not a free hangout. after talking with this abrasive, aggressive and rude individual, the woman there proceeded to dump a bucket of water an inch from where we were sitting wetting a few of us. if that wasnt enough, she then stated she had to clean the awning giving us 30 seconds to evacuate the front patio and DUMPED water on us!!! i am still in shock at the rude, unprofessional, inhumane attitude amongst this staff. the owner should be ashamed of himself. this is not how you run a business and he lost many good customers. i will tell everyone i know about this place......truly horrible.

I am almost in shock as to how bad this coffee shop is. While its cute on the inside, that is the most redeeming quality it has. The staff is a nightmare. Mean, rude and extremely unprofessional. The coffee and tea is disgusting and there is no AC!!! If you are in the neighborhood keep on walking, do yourself a favor and grab a cup of coffee at Starbucks. You'll be saving yourself the aggravation. Management should be extremely ashamed of how poorly they run there business

What a disgrace and shame!!! Coffee shop HELL

If you ever want to be treated as the NY stereotype tourists have ?rude? you must then come to this place because you will experience that to the highest level. Never ever have I been treated so obnoxiously in my thirty years of travel around the world. I currently live in UES and am a neighborhood coffee drinker. Last night, met a few friends at Rohr and was violently attacked by HOT water thrown to us by the staff (yes, this is all serious) for no apparent reason. Not to mention that there was no AC, the coffee is so expensive and the owner is a greedy sloth. Way too much drama for my life.
