I have heard rave reviews about this restaurant so I went with my husband and some friends to check it out last week. I have to say it was basic average Italian food. We had a decent bottle of wine, the bread was fresh and we and they gave what looked like a tomato flan accompany the bread. For appetizers we had salads and shared the Calamari. I had spaghetti with tomatoes and fresh thyme, my husband had the Pappardelle. Our friends had a seafood special and Gnocchi. Again, nothing to rave about but was decent. For dessert my husband and I shared their ""famous"" cheesecake which was very good and did taste homemade. The one big turn off was that the waiters rushed us throughout our entire meal. We barely put our fork down and they took our plates. We didn't even finish our coffee and they took our cups away. The waiter said they had people waiting and needed our table. It was a week night and the place was full but was shocked at how they pushed you out the door. Again, the food wasn't horrible but wasn't good enough that I would run back or recommend. They don't stand out among some of the other restaurants in the city.

The location is a little odd, as you are walking through the stalls of canal street you feel a little dirty and start to question what to expect once you get to this restaurant. However, once there you have just barely passed the neighborhood threshold into Tribeca and feel instantly relieved. The outdoor seating was cutely lit with votives and outdoor string lights and you forget about where you are. The food was quite good. I had the papparedelle which was good, but nothing that really stood out to me. However, the winner was the special of the night: tagliatte with lobster tail in a spicy tomato sauce. Very nice. When ordering the special might want to check on the price before deciding, we were charged with an unexpected one.

Our server was rude and insulting. When asked if the kitchen had an avocado (due to a restricted diet) he dramatically (and rudely) informed us that avocados are a MEXICAN fruit and this was an italian restaurant where they only serve ITALIAN fruit. In addition to rushing us on our order and snapping the menus out of our hands I asked for an amended item on the menu so as not to spend $27 on the dish and was told 'no no no....not $27' but guess what.......when the bill came......he charged me $27! I am all for good food......but not at the price of this type of service. There are too many great restaurants in this neighborhood that have great food and great service.

I went there tonight for dinner, and everything was perfect, from the appetizers, we had delicious mussels and stracchino bruschetta, wow..... the pasta al limone was really delicious, and the meat pasta was really good too. After MAtteo, our waiter told us to try the dessert, he insisted he chose. We let him choose for us, when i saw the cheescak i was somehow disappointed, i don't like cheesecake, i am from near milano and i really never had a good cheesecake. I was SOO wrong.... their cheesecake was soo delicoiusly light and good, that i have to take back all the bad comments i made about cheesecakes in general. BRAVI... i will definately will go back

I recently traveled 2.5 hours to bring my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner. We have been doing that for the past 3 years! We love this place so much, and have not found a better restaurant yet! They always have a way of making people feel as though they are the only people there. You will not be disappointed with anything on the menu! Try a Limoncello Martini with dessert!
