Dental Examination
All patients should have their wisdom teeth evaluated during their mid or late teen years. We will do a full oral exam and take a specialized panoramic or 3D X-ray, to learn the position of the wisdom teeth and if there are any problems. Early evaluation and treatment of difficult wisdom teeth can dramatically improve treatment outcomes and future oral health as well as significantly decrease any possible complications.

Crowns
If your dental implant feels loose, we’ll have you come to our office so we can determine the cause. Usually when a dental implant seems loose, it’s actually the healing abutment or restoration attached to the implant (the crown, bridge, or denture) that is loose, not the implant itself. However, if it is the implant that is loose, prompt care is needed in order to save it, which is why we’ll want you to come to our office regardless.

Maxillofacial Surgery
Dr. Bo Wang graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Southern California in 2006 with a degree in biomedical engineering. He went on to pursue dentistry at the University of California in San Francisco and received his DDS at UCSF in 2010. He then completed both his Oral and Maxillofacial residency training and Medical Degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 2013. With his impressive educational background and training, Dr. Wang went on to serve as the Chief Resident of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 2015-2016.
Tooth Extractions
You’ll be able to choose between local anesthesia only or local anesthesia with IV sedation. IV sedation allows you to sleep through your procedure. While, technically speaking, you are still conscious and breathing on your own, you will have no awareness or memory of your wisdom tooth extraction. If your wisdom teeth are impacted, even with local anesthesia the procedure can be uncomfortable due to the sounds and feelings of pressure and pulling, so if you are prone to anxiety or feel nervous about medical or dental procedures, you may wish to be sedated.

Orthodontics
Impacted teeth do not fully erupt. If the impacted tooth is a wisdom tooth, it should be properly evaluated to determine if it requires removal. Other impacted teeth may be surgically exposed, and braces (orthodontics) may be needed to create enough room for the tooth to emerge.
