This Dr. is AMAZING! I suffered for many years of sever sinus infections. The infections were so severe that I developed many black & blues, leaving people with the assumption that I was a battered wife. And then Dr. Mehta fixed me up restoring 75% of my hearing by inserting tubes in both of my ears, and with preventing treatment the black and blues have not return since 1998. He also treats children. AMAZING! SIMPLY AMAZING!

The one star is for the fact that he was a very nice man, but he destroyed my nose. He performed a rhinoplasty and septoplasty on me many years ago. I am still suffering. He removed way too much cartilage from my nose and as a result my nose is extremely crooked and is getting worse over time. He also left fragments of septum in my nose for which I've had two additional surgeries to try to correct. He did not perform these additional surgeries. When he did my surgery, he kept me in the hospital for three days when it should have been in and out the same day. Something must have gone very wrong during surgery for me to need to stay in the hospital that long. I am now going through a fourth surgery in December in which I will need to have cartilage from a cadaver in order to stabilize the structure of my nose. At that time, he was a very kind and considerate man and his office staff was wonderful, but that was a long time ago. The reviewer who spoke of him so positively did not say what it is he/she saw him for, but I'm wondering if he actually performed surgery on him/her. I don't care that he has awards on his walls (although I doubt he has as many as that reviewer is leading readers to believe). Also, I've worked for many doctors and the fact that the office is always packed could simply mean that they are double-booking patients, not necessarily that the doctor is any good. Please, please think twice before going to see this doctor. There are many excellent ENTs in New York. Do not go to this one. You will probably end up regretting it and suffering for it, like I am now.

He botched my surgery, did not return urgent phone messages to the ER while I was bleeding profusely from my nose. No doctors in the ER wanted to touch me because I had splints in my nose and they were afraid to touch me without talking to him first.
I had 6 MAJOR bleeds (over about 5 days)I where it was so intense that I was worried that I would choke to death on my own blood. I went to the ER each time and each time I got there it stopped shortly after. Through all these times, Dr. Mehta never returned calls to the ER and he had NO covering physician.
Finally he called me back and I went for an office visit first thing the next morning. I was already in a lot of pain from the surgery and from having Drs. stop the bleeds. When I went to his office, he was very rough on my nose. I was saying OWWW because it was very painful. He said, ""Shut up, I have 14 year olds that make less noise than you."" If I had not been in the condition I was at the time, it would have been UGLY!
I kept my composure and left his office. he assured me I was fine and that this was normal. I explained that the bleeds were PROFUSE and I showed him the ER records to support that. He dismissed it and told me I was fine. He was clearly angry.
I ended up back at NY Eye and Ear Infirmary (where he did the surgery) the next night. (Horribly hospital too, by the way...the nurses are mean and miserable). By the time I got there my bleed had stopped. They told me to go home because I was fine and I demanded they keep me overnight. After arguing with them and telling them I would lay on the floor and refuse to leave if I had to, they reluctantly kept me.
The next morning I awoke to a 3.5 hour intense nose bleed. The two residents on call (who were surprisingly both EXCELLENT) could not stop the bleed with six feet of gauze in each side or with catheters. The blew up balloons in the back of my throat to stop the bleeding.
They told me that I needed emergency surgery and that Dr. Mehta could be there in a few hours. Since I had only heard from him once since my surgery, and since he had not returned any urgent messages from the ER and since he was such a nasty person when I finally did see him in his office, I told them to keep him the hell away from me.
A WONDERFUL resident did my second surgery and told me she wasn't sure that she fixed it because it was so banged up from the surgery and because it is hard to see around with all the blood, etc...
They kept me overnight and sent me home the next morning. After a few hours at home, I bled profusely again. I went to the ER at Jersey City Medical Center because I live in JC. They stopped the bleeding and drew my blood. I had lost so much that they typed me for transfusions and put me in surgical ICU for 2 days.
I met an amazing ENT there who told me that he needed to really drug me up for several days to lower all my vials so that it could heal. I moved out of ICU after 2 days but he kept me for an additional 3 days. The whole 5 days, I was heavily medicated on Morphine, Demorol and Xanax. The reason for this was that he believed that and artery was cut in my head during the surgery.
This was really a horrendous time for both me and for my family. We later discussed that we all had concerns that I may not live...it was really that bad.
Thankfully I recovered recovered a few months later. Two weeks in and out of the hospital and seven years later, I still don't think the surgery helped one bit.
The final thing I will note is that when I was in NY Eye and Ear for my second surgery in that week, I met a 30 something couple. Dr. Mehta had done his tonsillectomy. He had almost the same situation as mine and was also awaiting a second surgery. The couple told me that Mehta had not returned her urgent calls either.
Stay away from this man. He is a horrible doctor and a nasty creep!!!

Navin Mehta has given me so much faith while all other ear doctors didn't care. Dr. Mehta has found ways left and right to cure people, he has gone well out of his way to study his field of medicine to extremes other doctors will not go. The man below me failed to mention his walls are covered in awards and acheivements, also one of the top ten physcians in the WORLD. He also failed to mention his wait over an hour is due to the number of people that go in to see this wonderful man. I fly in all the way from Chicago to see Dr. Mehta, and everytime, he lets me walk out happy. Of course he won't remember everyone by heart, over 5,000 people will see this guy in a week! By far my favorite doctor in my entire life, he is just amazing.

The worst medical experience in my life. This has been a doctor I've seen for a thyroid condition involving major surgery. We have over a year history together with monthly appointments. I always wait for over an hour, he spends less than 3 minutes with me, he's always confused about who I am and what my condition is. His staff has called and used 5 different names for me on the phone. You have to wonder if he can't keep anything organized or straight, how on earth can he properly diagnose you.
