i stopped in here for a late lunch/early dinner after walking around SOHO and had a great time. next thing i know it's 4 hours later. the staff is friendly and will make you feel at home. you can hide away in a corner booth or become part of the fun. make sure to let them know if you are in a hurry because you can spend the evening here... if you're not careful :)

This is a treasure in the heart of SOHO..the food was and is extrodinary each and every time we go..the atmosphere and decor is contageous..there is so much to look at..there is definitly a story we need to find out within the four walls..it is SOHO..the energy hummed with excitement as each dish was placed on our table..a thought out, well diverse spectrum of satisfaction is clearly found between the lines of this daily changing menu. I cannot emphasise enough how wonderfully delighted we have been each and every visit..its so reasonalbly priced with gems that are peppered thorough out the menu that leave you comming back for more..I give a great HOORAH! to MANHATTAN BISTRO..

DESPITE OF ALL THE RUMORS OF JEALOUS PYCHOS THAT ARE PUTTING MEAN STUFF TO FIRE PEOPLE OR PUT THE RESTAURANT OUT OF BUSINESS..IN MY OPINION THE RESTAURANT HAS REALLY TASTY FOOD ESPECIALLY BRUNCH..THE BISTRO BURGER IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE. THE SERVICE WAS GREAT!! I ALSO RECOMMEND GOING THERE FOR THE DRINKS AND WINES..IN MY EXPERIENCE THE BARTENDER WAS REALLY KNOWLEDGEABLE WHEN IT CAME DOWN TO CREATING DELICIOUS CONCOCTIONS SUCH AS THE LONG ISLAND ICED TEA, BLOODY MARYS MIMOSAS AND THE COSMOS ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!! .. I'M CONSIDERED A FOODIE AND I'M VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE IN GOOD EATS IN DOWNTOWN NYC. SO BELIEVE ME ITS WORTH IT DESPITE THE RUMORS.

I don't know what the moron who wrote a review on august 12th was talking about, but i own a very succesful business in SOHO, and my clients and my self are regulars at Manhattan Bistro, the food is great at an exceptional price, and I happen to frequent the bar in which the bartender whom also is the bar manager is quick and experienced and is not Latin but Italian , German, Irish, and Polish.

Walking into an empty restaurant on a Saturday night should have been my first clue. The service was slower than Johnny Knoxville after being kicked in the head by a giraffe. Being one of 4 tables in a room for at least 100 patrons, this is unacceptable. And how can you be out of your signature dish (Duck L'Orange) at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night? Things just where not adding up, (except our check at the end of the evening.)
However, there are 2 redeming qualities:
1. The food was tasty (even though I had to send my steak back as it was tremendously under cooked)
2. My hard of hearing father in law could understand the table conversation perfectly as we where one of 4 tables being served that evening.
I'm having a hard time figuring out how this place is going to remain in business. I think I'll just blame it on the management. The service was so bad I can't even rate it a mediocre experience.

I was shocked that a restaurant in a select location could serve such atrocious food. Don't be fooled by the busy front window. Once inside, you will find that the ""busy"" restaurant front is exactly that - a front for the empty interior. Wine drinkers beware: After making selections, we learned that despite the wine list, the restaurant was out of the basic Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay. Hungry patrons beware: Your child-sized portion won't arrive for an hour, and when it does, don't expect hot food. My order arrived as an obviously recently thawed and overcooked chicken breast, instant mashed potatoes (they were out of risotto but we weren't informed), and spinach (also the frozen variety). Our neighboring table guests ate 1/3 of their steak before asking the waiter to take it away. I expected a decent meal, but everything from the yeasty unfresh bread to the service was poor.

Came for lunch with my sister to grab a quick bite while shopping. Took forever to order, and the waitstaff was completely inattentive. We finally got our watered down sodas with a few pathetic slices of bread. When our food finally came, my cheeseburger was lukewarm, and the cheese had obviously been slapped on at the last minute - almost plastic tasting. My fries (more like the few crumbs) were cold. Her $7 cup of soup was room temperature. As others have observed, there weren't many other customers there, but yet everything managed to be mediocre at best. You would be better off at one of the restaurants on West Broadway.

I've eaten at many restaurants in NYC - most of them relatively inexpensive (unlike this one) - and I could never say that I had a BAD meal....until now. On a Monday night at dinner time there was only one other table full besides ours, and the waitstaff was rather annoying mostly because they were bored. I ordered an appetizer salad and when the plate came out, it was not what I ordered, but the waiter tried to pass it off as the same salad, hoping that I wouldn't notice. Turns out they had none of the ingredients for the salad that was on the menu, nor did they have the ingredients for the second salad I ordered instead. I ended up paying $10.50 for a plate of lettuce.
I am amazed that this place can afford the monthly rent in Soho with no patrons!

I had the same experience as one of the other reviewers. My friend and I went here for brunch/lunch at about 1pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was fairly empty, and there were enough servers, but we felt completely neglected. Nobody ever came to ask how everything was, or to refill our drinks. At the end of our meal, we had to flag down one of the zombies, er, I mean waiters, for our check. Thankfully, we weren't in a rush, but we still had a below average experience.
