I LOVE Kingsway! A couple years ago, I was 150 lbs. heavier. I decided to take up boxing because I heard it was a good workout. I tried a few gyms here in Brooklyn where I live, but for some reason I couldnt stick with it. I thought it was because I just wasn't ready to get into shape. So a few months later, I decided to give it another attempt and try out a gym in the city near my job. I figured at least I could go after work. Well, I found Kingsway International. The location was convenient because its just a walk away from 34th st and the trains. The first day I worked out, I never felt so much pain; but in a great way. My trainer was beyond social and really took the time out to listen to what my goal was. He didn't just throw me into an intense work out. Instead, he gradually eased me into certain routines that were custom fit to my size. He built up my endurance, strength, as well as boxing skills. I was hooked, and still am! I LOVE working out now, and nothing beats a great boxing routine. I am forever in debt to this gym for getting me so fit!
Kingsway has got to be one of the friendliest and welcoming gym I have been to. The trainers and manager, as well as other members are very social and make you feel right at home. Also, the trainers really take their time in trying to have you perfect your craft. Their not like other boxing gyms that I have been to where the trainers are eager to throw you into a competition just to make some money, or a name for themself. If you're looking for a gym where everyone is dedicated to helping you achieve your goal, come to Kingsway!

I have been working out at Kingsway Boxing for the past 6 years and I love this gym! Excellent Trainers! You can train with a personal trainer 6 days a week for only $135 per month! And you do not need to sign any long term contracts! The owner Kay, the trainers, and everyone working out is very friendly and helpful!

I started out at Kingsway doing group training. I originally joined in order to get a great fitness workout. As a woman, my initial intention was never to compete. However, being amongst so many amateur boxers encouraged me to take a shot. I competed in the Metros here in NYC, as well as in the Golden Gloves; winning both competitions. The training sessions that I endured at Kingsway not only kept me in fighter's shape but it also gave me mental stability. After winning the Gloves 3x, numerous club shows, and the Metros, I eventually turned Pro. The gender difference has a major impact in the boxing world. However, throughout my years as a boxer, I was/am prepared for any challenge. In addition to my boxing career, I also train other women at Kingsway. The environment is extremely accepting and supportive of female boxers. I recommend this gym for every woman interested in boxing, as well as any amateurs.

Kingsway is a genuine boxing gym with two raised boxing rings for sparring; heavy bags, speed bags and double end bags; treadmills; universal equipment and free weights. Trainees run the gamut from serious boxers to recreational boxers, and they come from all over the world and all walks of life. Since training there, I have met people from every continent (except Antarctica!), As a woman, I have never been treated as a second-class citizen, There is no better or more fun way to stay in shape than boxing and Kingsway is a great place to box. Although the gym is a bit shabby, that only contributes to its feel as an authentic boxing gym.

i have been to many boxing gyms out of all. i gotta say this place is bad. here is the list of bad things about kingway.
1. too small for a boxing gym
2. bad trainers ( all they do keep talking to you)
3. the place is so crowded not that they are good. b.c. the gym is way too small.
4. pretty expensivie paying noobs to train you.
5. a good gym for working out not for people who take boxing seriously who to be a pro!!!
anyway if you are serious, find some where esle.

no no no this is not for boxers or anyone wanting to learn the sport. no clue where they found the trainers. seems like most of them has been fired from other gyms. the gym has a couple of treadmills, some basic weights which is good even though the treadmills are out of order most of the time. there are not too many places in the city where to box so if you really do not have any expectations it is ok. you have to be disciplined since you basically have to set up your training by yourself.
small and unclean locker rooms that DEFINATELY needs cleaning, no toilet paper in the bathroom. bring your own, smelly shower.

I joined Kingsway Gym in Fall 2006, and since then I've dropped 20 Lbs and learned how to box, spar, and have a better outlook on life. Gary Marder is my trainer, and with his help I've become a person who no longer needs cholesterol medication and I can eat whatever the hell I want because I burn it all off at the gym. If you want a reasonably priced way to actually lose weight and work with a personal trainer, then there is no better place that Kingsway. Plus, you get to meet famous boxers like Miguel Cotto and Sugar Shane Mosely, in addition to New York Met David Wright who's sometimes there in the off-season.

I have always been working out and wanted to try boxing. Signed up at Kingsway and was designated a trainer. Unfortunately he was more interested in making comments about my looks and my figure than actually train me. I complained to the management and asked if I could change trainer. I was told there is a surcharge of $ 20 per month to switch trainer. I was chocked to hear that I would have to be penalized for not wanting to hear comments about my body from the trainer. The management also stated that ""this is a boxing gym, what do you expect""? Needless to say, I left the gym in total disbelief. I would advise anyone, especially women to check out the trainer before you have someone assigned to you, unless you are willing to pay the additional fee.
