Unbelievable place, great decor not over powering but simple and beautiful. i took my wife on a nice evening walk in the financial district as i am newly employed in the area and walked into fino as i have always heard great things from my co-workers. I first noticed that the most of wall street eat's here. you can tell this is definitely a place where the big shot executives go to talk business. The staff made us feel special, and made me feel like a big shot they do not treat any one differently if you sped 1$ or $100000. really was a remarkable feeling. I had the Filet Mignon special they had that nite, the Mait're D sauteed it in front of me it was remarkable, melts in your mouth my wife had a dish of pasta that could feed 4 ppl, excellent as well. deserts was good we split a piece of homemade hazelnut cake. for the whole package i thought the check would be more expensive than it was. as we walked out i noticed a wine celler nestled in the back which looked really cool....reccomend to everyone really is fantastic

Fino is a New York restaurant located in a Wall Street area of downtown Manhattan where I chose to take a client for a business dinner on December 1, 2009.
I ordered a soup, my party ordered one appetizer and a dinner, all of which were completely uneatable (if safe to consume), for there was something inside the dishes that made our teeth grind. Needless to say, the entire meal went UNTOUCHED; the waiter did not seem to be surprised. Not to ruin the experience and to display my regret in choice of restaurants, I asked the host if the restaurant would permit us to consume the wine that I had with me (I was, frankly, afraid to taste anything else they had on the menu). The host politely agreed.
When we finished the wine and were ready to leave, I asked for a check. To my surprise, not only was I charged for entire meal that we ordered, I was overcharged for two items, charged for items I never ordered (or offered), and to my dismay, I was charged $25 ""cork fee"" for opening my bottle! I have dined in thousands of restaurants in New York City over the years and have never seen such an obscene amount charged for a cork fee! The customary charge in a Manhattan restaurant ranges from $5 to $10 maximum, depending on the establishment. Wall Street restaurants, an area where I spent half of my life and visited countless eateries (from which I never contested a charge), are usually run in a lower range.
I discreetly notified the host of all the problems with the charge, and calmly returned him the check listing a $0 for a tip. After hearing me out, said host (who can be best described as an older overweight Romanian, who called himself ""Pietro Vuli"" - hopefully, the above description will help the restaurant owner to identify the person) went on a violent tirade. After screaming out curses and insults in front of the entire restaurant, loudly calling me ""a cheap f&*k,"" he THREW A CORK AT ME, threatened me, and proceeded to obscenely insult my client! I demanded to see the owner of the restaurant and he proudly said ""I AM THE OWNER"", which I highly doubt. After I insisted in seeing the owner, he threatened to call the cops if I don't leave immediately, took our coats and threw them out!
I would love to speak with the owner of the restaurant, but the ""manager"" would never transfer me.

Went there for my 31st birthday the other night. Worst sushi I've had in a long while. A friend also told our server it was my bday and they did nothing. Not to mention, my rolls looked so slopped together, I barely ate it! You think someone would notice?!

I moved into the same building as Haru recently and it's become my default place to order dinner from...convenient for pick-up (obs), healthy, and food's always good. Actually ate IN the restaurant for the first time last night and it was great! Lively but kind of mellow, great atmosphere (good music and sitting under the red lanterns is awesome), and our waiter was kind of hilarious. The manager recognized me from my nights picking up and actually sent a round of drinks! Sometimes I overlook the restaurants and bars closest to me as actual destination-dining and drinking places, but this one totally makesthe grade.

Don't go here unless you like getting kicked out and eating sub par food. Work in the area and went here with co-workers after work on a Tuesday evening and would NEVER go back. This new restaurant looks like it would be a great addition to FiDi but it is far from it! The worst part about this restaurant is the service/management and I highly recommend they learn how to treat customers if they want to stay in business. At 10:15, after our table spent close to $600 on dinner and drinks, the staff started playing with the lights in what would be a rude attempt to signal they were closing. At one point they turned off the lights completely for a few seconds and we were sitting in the dark. It would've been easier to just tell us it was last call! What restaurant starts closing at 10:15?! When we said something to the hostess on our way out, she actually laughed and sarcastically apologized. DON'T think this is one of those restaurants with bad service but great food. Overall, the food is mediocre and overpriced. The only positive thing about the restaurant is the decor!

Food is decent. If you're able to get beyond the service. We had a bad table towards the back and witnessed a waitress get yelled at, by a big, manly looking woman, presumably the manager. Their argument went on for a few minutes and ended with the girl crying.
It made us very uncomfortable and ruined the meal. Not to mention we were stuck waiting for the check for over 30 minutes. Certainly not my idea of a pleasant dining experience.

I went to Haru on a business dinner with an important client and supplier. The service was excellent! We had a reservation and were seated promptly upon our arrival. The hostesses were extremely happy and freindly. Our waiter quickly came by and introduced himself and contrary to what most reviewers have written about Haru, he was visible and attentive to our table the entire evening. We were immediately served our drinks and our order was taken promptly. Our food was served quickly and our table was never lacking in attention from the bus boys or our waiter. As for the food, the feeling is the same. The sushi was consistent and fresh and the symphony appetizer was simply divine. The main thing to watch out for is where you sit, some tables are far to close together. However, a dinner here is most definitely one you would have for a very special occassion.

I've eaten at another Haru location uptown on several occasions, so when one opened up downtown, I was excited to check it out. For lunch, I had a few rolls (which were very fresh) and sushi pieces. I was more impressed by the California rolls than I was by the O-Toro piece that I treated myself to that day... The fare is consistent-- you definitely know what you're getting. I do have to say that for a lunch place, the restaurant is dimly lit (with shades drawn). You are lunching by candelight-- which I found an odd backdrop for a potential power lunch spot.

I had a great night with friends at Haru this week when I got an invite to their opening. The space is a must see, it certainly doesn't look or feel like the rest of the Haru's in the city. This staff can actually hold a conversation and are quite personable. The sponsored ""PINK"" vodka cocktails were not memorable, but the great sake helped me forget. Otherwise, the party was very noteworthy.
