My family have been a clients of this salon for a few years now and we love it when we can get our hair done. There is a difficulty finding someone to manage our curly heads and Dickey can make you walk out feeling great about your natural locs, however, his prices are astronomical for the regular client and his staff doesn't make you feel as if you are getting your money’s worth. Getting the right hair cut for a curly head is very important. Downhill we go!!
I have waited for over two hours with my three daughters and a young baby on a school night for service and never received an apology from Dickey for his late arrival. I do think he is interested in the small client though!
Our last experience was awful; I found it difficult to make an appointment and waited for days for a follow up phone call from his receptionist because they didn’t have the appropriate notes in our folder for an appointment. After various inquires I was told, “You are scheduled for an appointment tomorrow, after I emphasized previously that I was unavailable on that particular day”. After that headache, we finally got an appointment.
On the day of the appointment we commuted from upstate – where we live-with our four kids in tow for service; one child with scheduled appointment with Dickey, however, we experienced difficulty traveling and we communicated openly by phone about our travel. We were never told that they would not be able to accommodate us. In fact, we did asked if we would still be accommodated upon arrival and we were assured yes. Upon arriving to the salon the receptionist- not the one we spoke with- told us we didn't have an appointment with Dickey and he wasn't there. She then went into the back for what seemed to be a conference, and, after 20 minutes of waiting she told us they couldn’t service my daughters but offered us a curly style- news flash!!! We are curly heads we walked in with curly styles already- I expressed what an inconvenience after taking a day off from work, utilizing an early dismissal from school for the kids and a long exhausting travel only hear they couldn’t accommodate us.

I went to Hair Rules for a haircut.. Actually a Big Chop (process of cutting relaxed hair to natural hair).. I made an appt with Anthony who wrote the book Hair Rules - and has the natural hair product line. He is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! He knows natural hair better than any stylist I came across. His prices are outrageous..but that is because his clientele includes Michelle O, Kelis & Estelle.. I highly recommend this salon if you want a cut..& want it right.. IF you refuse to pay 200+ for a hair appt.. you may want to look elsewhere.
