My name is Catherine Herbert and I don't know much about computers. At some point in the last month I believe my computer became infected with a virus. It was making my internet run very slow and I was unable to email my grandson away in Iraq. This being my only way to communicate with him I became very distressed. I wasn't confident enough to be able to attempt to fix it myself. Besides I hear hammers and computers don't go well together. :)
I got in touch with the local geek squad and dropped my machine off. For $199.99 and three days of work they said they would have it up and running better than ever! This didn’t go down like the nice gentleman wearing black trousers had promised. 7 Business days later, I still had a broken computer and a quote for $449 to remove viruses, fix the hard drive and install antivirus software. Not happy with this price, and already out $200, I started calling a few acquaintances.
One suggestion I received was to call Secure Remote Support. I called their toll free number to inquire about the cost and was told that they could remove my virus for $79.99 and could do it either by remotely connecting or if I preferred I could send the computer in to them. For time saving purposes, I chose to have them remotely connect and was assured if they could not fix the problem there would be no charge for their time. I liked the sound of that so I took them up on it. After about and hour the computer was repaired and I was ready to email again! No need to replace the hard drive. They did also sell me this antivirus software for another $59.99. It also came with a guarantee as well. They definitely did a great job, and Ill be thinking twice before going anywhere else.

What you are about to read is false and was written by a company called secure remote support to promote their business by ""piggybacking"" Geeks Squads Reviews.
My cat Morris has long since loved to lay on top of my computer tower while I am online. It’s warm and cozy and probably has a great view of the room as far as a cats point of view goes. So it was no surprise when I started noticing a funny noise coming from the inside of my computer when I started it up. The noise finally got so bad that Morris refused to venture on top any longer. It was quite a frightening sound. And then out of the blue the computer would no longer load Windows. Sadly I took my injured computer into the Geek Squad ER and prayed that they could perform some life saving procedure that miraculously reunites us like in Soap Operas. They took the computer and within a few days my diagnosis was complete. It was death by hard drive failure.”O say it ain’t so!” “It was so young… etc.”
Then the technician mentioned that they could install a new hard drive, do data recovery and reinstall the Windows operating system. He then quoted me a price that almost sent me to the REAL ER. It was almost $500! I could almost buy a whole new computer for that amount. Feeling like I should probably do some “shopping around” I took my computer home. At work the next day I looked up a few other businesses that could help me but would be me within my budget. I selected Secure Remote Support because they offered me the very best deal on parts and labor. I had my computer back up and running later that day and had all of my pictures, music and files back too. Geek Squad was going to take about 1 week to get it back and cost 5X the amount. I was afraid I might have lost some very important honeymoon photos. It was less than half of what Geek Squad was wanting and I felt like I was dealing with an experienced technician not a high school kid in his first job.

Late last year I contacted the Geek Squad concerning a virus I'd contracted on my laptop.
Not being a computer-savvy person I figured I could trust these guys to know their stuff and quickly resolve my issue.
I spoke with a very friendly gentlemen on the phone concerning my issue and he assured me they would be able to resolve my issue.
Took my laptop in and they had in for over a week, tinkering and whatever else they do. I paid $200 and got my computer back ""good as new"" - with a ""sorry for the wait"". Whatever, I had my computer back good as new, right? Wrong. I got it home and a couple days later I started having the same problems from what seemed like the same virus. RIDICULOUS! What did I just pay $200 for?!
My cousin told me about a company he uses called Secure Remote Support and that their rates are a fraction of Geek Squad's.
I figured I might as well try them, after all I wasnt going to pay another $200 to the crooks at geek squad again.
I went to this webiste www.secureremotesupport(dot-com) and chatted with a guy who explained to me (so i understood what he was saying) what was going on with my computer and how he could fix it.
TWO HOURS later my computer was fixed.
This company was affordable and reliable with a friendly and trustworthy staff. I haven't had any problems since.

What are they thinking? Seriously, GeekSquad is an example of a company NOT to be!
I gave them a laptop with a bad MBR on the hard-drive, all they had to do was run a repair from windows xp cd, they changed my hard-drive, reinstalled windows and charged me over $400 for repairs, when the job is not even worth a $100!!!
I demanded my ""bad"" hard-drive back, paid them diagnostics (almost $70) and took my laptop to a place I was recommended, actually turned out that it's not a place, it's a guy working onsite, but he is REALLY good and his prices are AMAZING compared to GeekSquad.
I paid $80 with him coming to Manhattan! Everything was fixed in under 40 minutes while I was waiting!

I?ve never been so humiliated and disrespected as with the Manager of Geek Squad, named JD. I explained to him the issue with my laptop, which was previously serviced there and not fixed. Already spent $500 from my previous visit. He asked me repeatedly what was wrong, when I tried to explain, he interrupted and asked me to repeat myself. I asked him to check the past invoice and he said no. He provided a demeanor that was offensive and demeaning. The laptop was never fixed!
