Jessica Zinn is a board-certified Registered Dietitian. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition from Syracuse University then went on to get her Master’s Degree in Clinical Nutrition from New York University. As a Registered Dietitian, Jessica has worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as telemedicine, including Upper East Side Rehabilitation and Nursing Home and Nutrition Energy, a private practice based in NYC. Jessica’s mission is to provide individualized medical nutrition counseling to help each and every client realistically and tastefully reach their nutrition and health goals. Jessica is passionate about ensuring that each client is eating foods that they love while balancing nutrition and medical conditions so that they are truly able to enjoy life. Jessica lives in New York and loves to go for walks in central park, take fitness classes, and create new recipes for her friends and family.
Primary Care
Focus is on providing diabetes education to adults with Diabetes in collaboration with the patients’ primary care physician. Our approach incorporates family and friends into our diabetes education programs. We provide diabetes education and prevention strategies for groups at risk of diabetes.
Immunizations
No. Carefully performed scientific studies show that vaccines do not cause diabetes or increase a person’s risk of developing diabetes. In 2002, the Institute of Medicine reviewed the existing studies and released a report concluding that the scientific evidence favors rejection of the theory that immunizations cause diabetes. The only evidence suggesting a relationship between vaccination and diabetes comes from Dr. John B. Classen, who has suggested that certain vaccines if given at birth may decrease the occurrence of diabetes, whereas if initial vaccination is performed after 2 months of age the occurrence of diabetes increases. Dr. Classen’s studies have a number of limitations and have not been verified by other researchers.

Ophthalmologists

Glaucoma
Uncontrolled diabetes also makes it more likely that you’ll develop glaucoma, a condition in which the pressure inside your eyes becomes too high. An early warning sign of glaucoma is trouble seeing out of the corners of your eyes.
Cataracts
Uncontrolled diabetes can also make it more likely that the lens of your eyes will become clouded, a condition known as a cataract. People with cataracts often complain of cloudy or fuzzy vision.
Eye Exam
Too much blood sugar and high blood pressure can damage the retina, which is made up of tiny blood vessels at the back of your eyes. Retina damage caused by diabetes is called diabetic retinopathy (ret-ih-nop-uh-thee). Because you may have retina damage without knowing it, you should have an eye exam in which your doctor dilates your eyes once a year.

Dr. Agustin Busta received his medical doctor degree from the Federico Villareal National University in Lima, Peru. He completed internal medicine residency training at New York Medical College—Cabrini Medical Center, and a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at New York University Medical Center. He is board certified in internal medicine and in endocrinology and metabolism. He was a faculty member at Bellevue and NYU Langone Medical Center and also served at Beth Israel Medical Center as the director of diabetes section and clinical trials unit. At Beth Israel he was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine. In 2017 he joined the Northwell Health Physician Partners – Endocrinology at Lenox Hill Hospital as the Assistant Director of the Gerald J. Friedman Diabetes Institute. Dr. Busta has been a practicing endocrinologist for over 25 years with focus on diabetes in pregnancy and type 1 and type 2 diabetes. He also has expertise in adrenal, pituitary, thyroid and parathyroid disorders. He is a dedicated clinician and educator, with published manuscripts and book chapters, and is well respected in the endocrine community.
