I was part of a party of 6 ladies brunching on a Saturday afternoon at the Eatery. The bartender & waiter were a real treat and gave great drink/entree suggestions. Unfortunately, one of the meals was incorrect. By the time the mistake was rectified all diners were nearly done with our meals. When the bill did arrive and I saw that the item had not been comped I politely requested that it be removed. Our waiter sent over the host/manager since it was not within his authority to adjust our bill. When I (very politely) requested that the item be removed (and the mgr knew why since he was the one who took my friends plate back to the kitchen to be corrected) his response was, ""She ate it, right?"" I said, ""Well, yes, but it didn't arrive until most of us were already done with our meals."" His disingenuous response was, ""She ate it. Have a nice day."" He then turned on his heel and walked away. I was taken aback to say the least. The food was OK, but to treat customers with such disregard, when they're spending money at an establishment in a city where there are thousands of restaurants to choose from is really appalling. I would not return under the current management and I would not suggest this restaurant to anyone. The lack of tact this man has leads me to believe he should not be the first person people see when they arrive or the last person they see before they exit.

Now I usually feel funny saying out loud that I'm a foodie since it doesn't go with my swaaaag, but Eatery always fixes that for me. It's impossible for them to mess seafood up: calamari, salmon, mussels, scallops....IMPOSSIBLE TO MESS UP! Steaks ain't bad neither. Good drinks. I'd give 5 stars but the service can be come and go depending on who you get. One of my reliable go-to's in the city though.

We went there on Saturday to celebrate my wife's birthday. When I made the reservation they said it was ok for a stroller but they never mentioned they would be seating us at the far-end corner of the restaurant next to the kitchen past restrooms. The place looked isolated from the rest of the crowd and they had many tables available with plenty of space next to them. They just insisted we sat there.
Very rude management with a very little flexibility when it comes to couples with babies!
We have been going out since our baby was 6-month old and we were never been treated like this before!

Eatery is one of these places where you can't go wrong when you can't decide where to go. Food and drinks are great. Last time I went, they had a roasted duck mac'n cheese on special that was to die for. I suggested to them that they should have it on the regular menu. The staff is always nice and ready to help. This place is definitely a good pick for pre or post theater. You won't be disappointed
I had family in from out of town and thought Eatery would be a good option for some picky eaters. Everyone in our party of 6 was completely pleased!! Amazing for my family.
We started with the calamari and hummus -- both were absolutely delicious. I had the Asian chicken salad and while it was huge, I ate almost every bite. Our waitress was really lovely and gave great menu suggestions to everyone. We shared three desserts...all good, the cheesecake was our favorite.
Will be back soon for sure!
Our latest experience at Eatery was the best yet. We get to NYC every month, and have experienced numerous restaurants in the Theater District, but Eatery is by far our favorite.
Last weekend when we visited, the 10-minute wait to be seated was well worth it, as usual. This is just typical of a restaurant that is patronized by so many.
Our drinks were great - the staff is always very attentive.
My wife had Pan Seared Sea Scallops with Asparagus Risotto & Roasted Pepper Vinaigrette. Scallops are her favorite and she has enjoyed them in all the coastal cities we have visited, but these are the best she's had.
I enjoyed the BBQ St. Louis Baby Back Ribs - seasoned just right, and fall off the bone tender.
The portions are filling, and as such we didn't enjoy any dessert this evening.
Overall, Eatery is our first choice when in NYC - hands down. You won't be disapointed.
I dined at Eatery last night and could not have had a nicer experience. The other times I had been there it was very busy, and while the service and food were equally as stellar, I prefer the quiet Monday evening with an old friend.
Back to the restaurant, I had the tempura calamari (which I cannot pass the opportunity everytime) and Pastrami-style Salmon.....amazing, who knew? I can never seem to save room for dessert....
The service was also fantastic as always and I thought it was about that time to give back to Eatery, their ""just desserts"" in the form of a good review.

Eatery was one of my go-to brunch places, because of the ambiance, food, and location. My friends and I are frequent brunch goers, so we like to try new places. I've been to some newer establishments recently that really wow'ed us, but I still love the food here- and we always have a great time at Eatery, so I'd def. recommend going at least once! Only downside is that there is sometimes a long wait time to be seated.

I live in this neighborhood and was so excited to try this place. I have eaten at most of the places located in this area and really have never been disappointed. I love food and will try anything! Well I was excited and love the visual of this place to. I was greeted and sat immediately, then greeted by an awesome waiter. I had ordered the special trout with wasabi potato's, calamari and my friend had a chicken dish and we both had Iced tea. The trout literally tasted like dirt and the potato's were way to hot (and I love hot) the calamari was so greasy and the chicken wasn't seasoned and dry, even the iced tea had an acidic flavor. The bill was around a $100 for this food witch we barely touched and our waiter was so fab I could not leave him a great tip (not his fault). We left and went across the street to Mee Noodle and had a great meal for a lot less. Every time I go by the Eatery I always say there's the worst food in NYC. lol

I went for dinner there with a friend sometime in Dec. It was a cold, wet night, and when we walked in the place was busy but cozy. We had a reservation so we got seated promptly. Our waiter was very friendly & had great suggestions; he was a sweetheart & very attentive. Had fries & the tuna tartare (interesting & pretty tasty) for appetizers & they give this complimentary crispy puffed fried thing that tastes exactly like a type of indian papad--yum! I got the mac & jack as an entree which was great, my friend had the meatloaf which was good (and the mashed potatoes that came with were excellent!). Definitely enjoyed the comfort food, and the bill was less than I expected. Had no room for drinks or dessert but I would go back to try the other interesting items on the menu. In fact i just went there today for brunch with friends, it was very crowded but apparently we were the right size group and got seated right away. I had the stuffed french toast, which was delicious, and all my friends' dishes were as well. We left very full & happy! My waistline can't take going there too often but i def recommed the place!

My friend and I went to Eatery for dinner the other night and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The service and staff were very accommodating and frequently checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed for a good dining experience. I loved the Mac & Jack entree, and my friend really enjoyed the Asian Chicken Salad dish. Both of us could not say enough good things about the Cran-Apple martinis. I will return to Eatery and bring more friends with me next time!

We went to Eatery while on a weekend getaway, after reading the reviews on citysearch & noticing they had been ranked on Zagat's list. However, once we arrived the place wasx crowded, which in essence would lead you to believe the food was something to talk about. However, we were very dissatisfied once seated to not only wait 20 mins or more just to place our order, but also getting a waitress who lacked the ability to be personable at all costs (Abby). Once placing our drink and meal orders. The drinks were horrible, couldn't get a simple bloody mary right and the sangria was so...watered down it was like a light juice. Once our food arrived 30 mins. later we were not impressed at all. $80 or so later, we came to the conclusion this is a place that is all hype and nothing to back it up. A waste of time & patience. Go to the local restauranti instead- better service, drinks & food!!! NEVER AGAIN !!!

Loved the food, but not the service/reservation system!
We ordered poached eggs and French Toast, and the portions were huge! Prices were reasonable too, especially for a highly-rated, hip New York restaurant.
Made a reservation online wherein I was told 11:30 wasn't available but 11:00 was so we rushed to get there. Funnily, it was half-empty when we got there at 11:15. Not sure what to make of that.
My gripe with the service was the server's knowledge. I had specifically asked for no bananas in my French Toast, and the server said sure. Minutes later, my first bite of chocolate-stuffed French Toast, and there it was - banana! To make it worse, the server now said it was part of the pureed mixture inside so could not be removed. I doubt they came up the recipe since I had placed the order, so shouldn't the server have known that?

Every time I went there with my children, we were stuffed into a back corner near the kitchen. My 2 daughters, aged 12 & 9, have been eating in fine restaurants their whole lives, in the U.S. & Europe & know how to behave. They don't need children's menus. So why are we automatically stuffed into a back corner 'away' from everybody??? I am sick of the staff at Eatery assuming my children are ill behaved. It's really too bad, because the girls request going there as they love the food, but I will not take them as I have been stuffed into that corner enough. Eatery had several chances.
But if you do go, please do yourself a favor & order the blueberry lemonade.

My friends and I had a great dinner here. We are in our mid twenties and fit right in to the rest of the crowd. The menu is very unique and there is a wide variety of things to choose from (I was with two very picky eaters who were able to find something they'd eat). The ambiance is really cool and everything is reasonably priced. This was my second time and I'll definitely be back.
