Friendly knowledgable staff who know better ways to define and diagnose. Provided the best treatment plan I have come across after years of being given the run around by dentists.

Dr. Mazen Natour is quite po...

Dr. Mazen Natour is quite possibly the worst dentist in New York City, if not the nation. Here's why...

I made an appointment through 1800Dentist and the first meeting went well. They made a treatment plan and said that I needed 3 wisdom teeth extracted, a cleaning, a premium porcelain filling, and a possibly a mouth guard. They checked my insurance and said that it was 80% covered and that my out of pocket expense would be about $380. Then we scheduled a follow-up appointment to get it all done.

Then they canceled the second appointment last minute. I waited and went in again during the middle of the work day but they didn’t schedule enough time for anything but to drill me.

When the doctor drilled me he drilled a second tooth! After he was done he told me about it and all I could say was ok. I assumed it was just part of the treatment plan we established and I certainly was not expecting to pay for it since I didn't know about it or authorize it.

They rescheduled the third meeting. Unfortunately the doctor had absolutely no clue how to operate the Cerec porcelain filling machine and it didn't fit. After four tries he couldn’t get it in. Each time he tried to he kept injecting my gums with novocaine. Finally he gave up. What was supposed to be a 1.5 hours became 2.5 hours and I missed a very important sales meeting because Dr. Mazen Natour was treating my mouth like a pin cushion.

When I went to the desk to reschedule another try they dropped the bombshell on me that they hadn't looked up my insurance right and that I only had 50% coverage. ON TOP of that, they wanted to charge me for the second tooth the doctor decided to drill without my consent. The second tooth pushed me past the coverage on my insurance, so my total bill for all my treatments had suddenly jumped from $380 to over $1,600 !!!

Later in the day I had excruciating pain in my gums because of all the doses of novocaine he had given me. He didn't warn me of this. When I called back to ask what could be done all he could say was to take a motrine.

I called their office manager and all she did was argue with me about it and tried to blame me and get me to pay the full bill. She won’t admit that it was wrong for the doctor to drill my second tooth without my permission.

I went back for a forth visit and I explained to Dr. Mazen Natour that it was wrong for him to drill my second tooth without my consent and without telling me how much it would cost. I also told him that he should have pre authorized with my insurance the price of everything before giving me the quote. He immediately went on the defensive and was extremely rude and argumentative. He said, "Did you expect me to stop and go look up the price and ask for your permission before I drilled". I said yes. He condescendingly laughed at me. He tried to give an example of a doctor in an operating chair, but I explained to him that it was not a life or death situation and that I could have waited to have that second tooth drilled and that I should have been given a choice about it considering it was going to cost considerably more money. He then had the audacity to say that it wasn't my choice. I told him it was my tooth and my body and my money and that yes I did have a choice and I may have chosen differently. He completely lost his composure and yelled at me and walked out. Clearly he has a God complex.

The girls in his office are sweet and were apologetic and embarrassed, but there was nothing they could do. Angela the office manager tried to reschedule me but she said that the owner Dr. Singh wouldn’t authorize anything to make up for my time and mistreatment.

The bottom line is Dr. Mazen Natour is a terrible dentist and is extremely unethical both in his business and his work. He also is just a rude man. Unless you have no respect for your mouth or your wallet do not ever go visit him or Arch Dental.
