My dog is like my child. As any nerve racked parent, I have had three different dog walkers (all with references) and have had boarded my dog twice before initially bringing her to D is for Doggy. Since that first visit, i can honestly say that i have never trusted anyone else to watch my dog, even for an extended period of time. If anyone can be trusted to care for your dog, it is this place and i recommend them without reservation.

I bring my dog here whenever I go out of town and its the cutest thing because everytime we walk past the storefront, he pulls me to go back in. The staff really seem to care about my dog. My dog is like my baby and I get worried when someone else is watching him, but D is for Doggy sends me photos of him having fun and I can watch him on the webcam all day so I know he's alright. It really gives me peace of mind. This place also doesn't have that bad doggy odor that so many doggy daycares have. If you need to put your dog in daycare or board it try this place. They are also open 7 days a week, which is nice bc you can pick up your dog anytime!

This place is great, my puppy loves it there. First and foremost I love how sincere and caring they are towards my pup. They know about all of her tendencies and how she is around other dogs. They really seem to care about her well being, which is most important to me in choosing a doggy day care. One time she was sick and needed particular care with her medicine, feeding, etc… they were perfect with everything. Also she is sometimes a little difficult with other dogs when I walk her but she fits in great at D is for Doggy. The environment is very dog friendly, there’s good energy when your inside, and I feel the dogs sense that as well. The place is clean and has a very nice ambiance to it. Sometimes I use the grooming service as well which is also exceptional.
Ultimately what separates this place from others is that they seem to care very much about their dogs, and view them as more than just clients. Its tough not being around her and putting her in the care of someone else, but I trust this place. I can view the room in the webcam on the D is for Doggy website so that’s nice. She seems to be playful and happy which is a joy to watch when im away from home. The employees are always in there being attentive and caring for her needs. Love it, this will be my go to place for as long as I live in Chelsea.

I used to take my pooch to D is for Doggy frequently for Day Care Services. It seems there has been a change in ownership/staff and things have just not been the same. I have them given plenty of chances. There is no more personalized attention from the owner, like there used to be from Gina (the previous owner). No photos, or extra special touches that made me feel that my pet was special, not my pet and I are more of a business transaction. D is for Doggy is not cheap and please spend your money elsewhere. I have found another daycare and we are much happier. Search on Citysearch for more options!

I love D is for Doggy I have been going there since they opened and I have never had any complaint. My dog races to get there every morning and gets so excited when he sees the staff. The staff are very helpful, friendly, and are great with the dogs. They are very clean and organized. I feel very comfortable leaving my dog their and their webcam is a great assurance.
If you have your doubts about D is for Doggy I suggest you stop by and try their free screen test where you have your dog stay there a few hours to see if he or she has a good time. I'm sure you and your dog will leave their happier and very impressed.

I left my dog for a week (for the first time) at D is for Doggy and I found the staff to be extremely caring and sweet with her. I also love the webcam that allowed me to check on her everyday while away. She seemed to be doing great.
The place is incredibly clean and well staffed. The small dog room has plenty of light and a window where the dogs can look out or rest up. I really liked the idea of a backyard where the dogs can be let out to go.
The staff is very transparent and happy to talk to you about your dog's progress. I also had my dog groomed at the end and she looked great. Other than being very tired when she got home, she seemed to have a great stay there.
The only downsides were that the rooms are pretty small and I would have preferred a place that kennelled the dogs at night rather than provided open sleeping arrangements. Also, it would be nice if they offered a walking option, although their location isn't all that conducive to walks.

I highly recommend D is for Doggy --and no other place. I live on the UES, but I gladly pay $20 for one-way cabs just to drop off my sweet puppy there. There are other decent doggy daycares/boarding places a lot closer to me, but I believe the owner, Gina, and her staff, personally love and take care of my dog almost like I would.
I work in another place in the city and know one thing for sure. The puppy that died at D is for Doggy DID NOT HAVE TO DIE! Yes it might have gotten bit, that happens. But to have enough bites to die from means that no one was in the room watching the dogs. If you don't know enough to get a license for your business like it said on NY1 then how do you know they even know enough to train there people to take care of the dogs? I think there is something very wrong at D is for Doggy and if they don't start training there people and making them STAY in the daycare room then this will happen again.
I bring my dog to D is for Doggy every week and have left her overnight as well, nothing remotely negative has ever happened. In fact my dog always rushes in to greet the staff and she's always playing and wagging her tail when I see her on the web cam. The place is always clean and the staff couldn't be more attentive. It is so wonderful to be able to drop off my dog and feel confident that she is safe and having fun. A tragic accident can happen anytime, anywhere to anyone, it would be a mistake to judge D is for Doggy for something that was an accident and that the entire staff feels very deeply saddened by.
