Recently our company had a year-end celebration dinner at Club A Steakhouse, we were able to reserve their ""wine cellar"" private room which is a FANTASTIC setting. The steak was out-of-this-world... you have to try the porterhouse! Their Wine list is wonderful and staff was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to everyone I know that enjoys a good steak and great atmosphere!

Formerly Bruno's, a friend and I popped into Club A last night, having not heard much talk as to whether any good or not as a steakhouse. Lobster and Escargot to start were good, though escargot could have used more garlic. After that, it got amazing: 24oz. Prime Aged bone-in ribeyes were cooked to a perfect medium-rare with a crust that I will use as my standard for all future steaks. 5-cheese truffle mac and glazed brussel sprouts w/ bacon were two of the best sides I've ever had, affordable wine selections, and wonderful desserts. Service rivaled the food and owner/management, Bruno and Agron Selimaj, treat you like family. This was truly one of the best overall dining experiences I've had in recent memory and is going in my Top 3 for steakhouses. They really do a great job and I will definitely be bringing guests here frequently from now on.

Decor is class-act. Not like the rest of the stiff looking steakhouse. I have to say, this is not a restaurant but a dining experience. From the friendly staff, to the amazing food and service and thereafter you head up to the piano room. Steak & Chops was cooked to perfection, the sides were yummy and the pairing of wines were superb. The Chef happened to be in the dining room and we stopped him to tell him how great the food was, he was very pleasant. The owner Bruno was a class act too, making his way over to our table to ensure we were happy. This is a great way to spend an evening ....

My husband and I had dinner at Club A Steakhouse Saturday night and we will never go back. No wonder why the place was so empty. My husbands steak was undercooked , and mine was over cooked and stringy. I ended up eating most of my meal alone as my husband watched. Our sides were flimsy and luke warm. Talk about cutting portion sizes. Is this supposed to be a steakhouse?????? Come on- get your act together here. We live in New York and eat out in steakhouses all of the time. The service was inconsistent, but friendly.
We read all of the great reviews and thought it was a good choice. We were obviously mistaken.

You'll go here for the steak but everything is so fresh you will come back again and again. The shrimp served with two sauces is a brilliant starter and the vegetables are unforgettable. Creamed spinach and mac and cheese like you've never had before, I swear. The wine cellar is excellent, too. It's crowded but there is, of course, a reason for that. It's a great restaurant.

I went to Club A Steakhouse on Valentines day with my girlfriend & had a delicious meal. We got there at about 8 (on time for our reservation) & we were asked to wait at the bar & have a drink. The place was packed!! After about a half hour, Bruno( the owner) brought us upstairs to a table in a nice romantic, red velvet style room. The waiter came over & asked us for drinks. We ordered a nice bottle of california cabernet (Faust & at the the price they sell it at, it's definitely a deal). Franky, our waiter, was kind enough to decant it for us. Always a big plus when waiters go the extra step to decant a bottle of wine. We ordered the Porterhouse for 2, Mac & Cheese, Brussel Sprouts & Hashbrowns. Although it took a while for our food to come out(1 hour..but it's valentines day in manhattan...so its expected), we didn't mind, We were enjoying time with eachother just talking & enjoying great wine. The porterhouse was cooked the right way(charred on the outside & pink in the middle...just the way i like it. Sides were all really good too(Mac & Cheese with truffle oil & brussel sprouts with bacon) ..We didn't even want to look at the desert menu because we were full with our delicious porterhouse..Bruno, the owner, is definitely a class act. He came up to us & apologized about the wait & offered an after dinner drink with his compliments..def a nice touch..all in all..club a steakhouse was great..its just one of those nights i guess...ill be back on a ""regular"" night to enjoy again...

After passing Club A quite a few times and reading the great reviews, my husband and I decided to try it for Valentine?s Day. We were seated about 20 min. after our reservation, which I thought was fine since it was V-Day. We were led upstairs to a beautifully decorated, intimate dining room. Once seated, things went from classy to tacky? My husband noticed 1-inch pieces of numbered masking tape on the back of each chair. It was clear they were the table numbers, but even in chain restaurants, I have never seen obvious table numbering to help the wait staff know where to go. That lack of professionalism was carried through the rest of the night ? horrible, excruciatingly slow service (so bad you become ?friends? with the couples eating at surrounding tables because you compare stories), an owner constantly on the floor directing his staff (instead of behind the scenes), etc. But the worst part is that they piped in live music from a different room in the restaurant. This sounds nice but was the worst part of the evening. The singer had a nice voice and sang against pre-recorded music (karaoke-style) but treated the situation like it was a cheesy Vegas lounge, with one bad joke after another (one example: My friend from Moscow wanted to come to NYC to become a taxi driver but they wouldn?t let him because he was Pakistani). He told more jokes than he sang, which is really not what you want to hear when you?re trying to enjoy an expensive, romantic dinner. In addition, he didn?t stick to songs by Frank Sinatra and other crooners, but decided songs like Hava Nagilah and Kid Rock?s All Summer Long were appropriate choices. And if that wasn?t bad enough, he played pre-recorded sound effects of gun shots and sirens throughout the evening (no, I?m not kidding). The food was average for a steakhouse, but nothing could make up for the tacky entertainment and horrible service. If it were any other night besides Valentine's Day, we would have gotten up and left.

I can't say enough about Club A! I recently had dinner there with a few friends The atmosphere, decor, food and service all get an A+!! Best French Onion soup in the city. We had the porterhouse for 3 and could not finish it all, cooked perfectly. Can't wait to go back and will be having our company parties their as well!
My Family and I went to Club A Steakhouse for a suprise birthday dinner party, It was FANTASTIC!! The service was excellent, and the food was absolutely amazing! Our drinks were mixed perfectly, we had appetizers, dinner AND dessert!!! My steak was full of flavor and cooked to perfection, and there were a ton of side dishes to choose from. I'd like to thank the staff for treating our group like we were the only people there. Did i mention the lounge?!? hahah good times and thanks again! from all of us in Connecticut we cannot wait to come again!
Just ate at Club A for the fifth time and we really, really enjoyed it. My brother-in-law who is a steak connaisseur loves the perfectly cooked filet mignon every single time. And he likes the mac and cheese so much he always gets a couple of extra to bring home. My husband actually loves the chicken (he's weird); I'm a vegetarian so I go for the jumbo shrimp scampi, absolutely delicious or lobster ravioli, best I've ever had. The dining areas are gorgeous - very warm and plush, creating a sexy/cozy feeling. There's always a really good vibe too - sometimes we sit upstairs where there's a piano player, who's really fun. And sometimes just at the bar for a drink and garlic herb fries :)........I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Finally, I don't have to go far for a good steak!!! Club A Steakhouse is what the upper east side has needed for years.... I'm used to traveling all the way downtown or even as far a brooklyn for a good porterhouse but thanks to a friends recommendation those long rides are OVER.... I ordered my usual; Porterhouse for 2, creamed spinach and mashed potatoes and I must say I thought it was to good to be true.... The tender, perfectly medium steak on a blazing hot sizzling plate was exactly wat I was looking for in a porterhouse.... If you live on the U.E.S and you love steak as much as I do, this is the place... Thank you club A....

I had the pleasure of dining here last weekend ... and I must say that it truly lives up to its outstanding reviews. It far exceeds the ""overated"" steakhouses that people often frequent throughout the city. From the appetizers to the dessert, everything was amazing! My filet mignon was perfectly cooked and the unique side dishes were a perfect complement ( especially the truffle macaronni and cheese - a MUST try!!). The service and atmosphere (not to mention the fantastic piano player) added to the ambiance of the whole dining experience. I highly recommend Club A for any occasion ... you will not be disappointed !!
The name says it all. It gets an A across the board. I recently went this Saturday with some friends and had a fantastic experience. From the food to the atmosphere to the service, everything was top-notch. Plus you didn't have that stuffy feeling you get when you go to some of the other steakhouses in the city (i.e. Wolfgang's, Sparks ect). I highly recommend this GEM.
We are from out of state but frequent the city 4-5 times a year. We have found our spot now! The lamb and steaks were phenomenal. Cooked to perfection and spiced just right. My wife is Greek and said it was the best lamb she ever had. The rib-eye was done to perfection. I brought my wife, daughter , and her boyfriend ,and the atmosphere was so nice we stayed for 3 hours. The staff was professional and attentive. We all shared the side dishes and appetizers, and then tasted each others desserts so we could try them all. Everything was fantastic right down to the wine. We will be coming back here on our next visit to the city.
I have yet to find a restaurant with a more enjoyable atmosphere than I experienced at Club A this past weekend. The man on the piano was unbelievable as was the food! The mixed grill has something for everyone, I would definitely reccommend sharing that dish when you visit! Decor, service, food, all an A++!! I will definitely be back soon!

I was looking for a different steakhouse last evening and saw the reviews of Club A on citysearch so I decided to try it. It was fabulous! This restaurant used to be Bruno's, an upscale Italian restaurant , but it has had a rebirth about 9 months ago as a first class steakhouse. The quality of the food is top notch and the entrees were cooked to perfection. The filet mignon and veal chop were large, tender and flavorful, as they should be. The blue fin tuna was fresh, seared rare and served with two delicious sauces on the side. The wild King Salmon, most likely obtained frozen at this time of year, was succulent and barely noticeable as anything but fresh.
The atmosphere was comfortable and the service was friendly and professional. The owner, Bruno, is charming and attentive to his guests.
If you're a wine geek, there is a wine cellar with a large banquet table downstairs that will accommodate a dinner for I'm guessing 10 -18 people. Bruno will store your own wine in a locker at the restaurant (for a yearly fee) and serve it to you for a modest corkage charge. Or you can BYO special bottles each time for that same modest corkage charge. While the restaurant wine list is not large, it has some good bottles of wine to match the cuisine and they are reasonably priced.
