Having travelled and lived around the world, New York City is still my kind of place to be especially eating out! One of the places I visited recently is a Mexican restaurant tucked in Greenwhich Village by Bleecker Street. This Caliente Cab Restaurant is the place to be when you come to the village. You will love their guacamole freshly prepared on their guacamole station , the flavored margaritas and not to mention the traditional Mexican food they serve. The atmosphere is festive and staff hospitable.

Went there with a friend they slipped few extra drink charges thinking we are wasted then to make the matters horrible after we left these nice waiter 20% tip I found out that they had taken the liberty of charging us $35.00 in a seperate charge that we did not sign for which showed up on our credit card statement. I know times are desperate but robbery has taken a new meaning in this place. Will never recommend to anyone and the jury is still out if they will refund me that $35.00. COME ON PEOPLE all we had was 4 drinks and sad Quak. with chips. NO main course or other entres.

Went there of Friday night, the music was loud as this is a dance club. People at the next table were
actually screaming, i was trying to communicate to my friends but quickly lost my voice. Music was not etnic at all, just the loud disco and very annoying. Usually that kind of placed play nice spanish music, not making the disco club out of the dinner place. Not good for people who actually want to have a relaxing dinner and meet with friends for a lovely evening and conversation. Good for teenagers, which the place is full of.

The environment is fun and lively! There is a Sport Bar area with Giant Screens all around the Bar area which covers the entire Fancy Back Wall. The Fajitas are sizzling hot and to lick your fingers! The fresh Guacamole is made A La Carte and spiced up to your taste, mild goes perfect with a Margarita (more than 12 flavors) or spicy after a Tequila. I was looking around and all drinks and dishes had definitively a Mexican Flavor to it. The new recipes seem to have worked their magic! And if you are really really hungry, pick a giant Burrito (that could feed a small army) or a Quesadilla. A great hang out Spot in Murray Hill at cheap prices. I?ll be back soon!

Went there on Tuesday night. Approached the Bar to buy a beer. Wasn't really concerned about Happy Hour Specials but the schmuck Bartender there very rudely explained that I couldn't leave the Bar with my drink to go to the outside cafe. When I asked why (since I was waiting to be seated outside), he said agrily that the ""happy hour"" special was only ""at the bar"". Puzzled I asked ""what's the difference""..he said beers at the Bar (which is about 10 feet wide and seats 6) are $4.00 whereas beers outside are $6. When I asked him ""what's with the attitude, I'm just asking"", he says ""what is this an inquisition"". Nice Bait an' Switch Caliente Cab Co!!! After putting up with this moron, we get a mediocre meal and slow table service to boot. Won't waste my money there again until they learn how to treat their clientele.

I went to Caliente Cab for the first time this past weekend and was surpirsed by the cool nightlife feel it had. On the outside it looked like a regular restaurant but on the inside it was beautiful, with TV screens showing videos (good music I might add) very nice staff, good food and excellent marigritas! It's definitely a nice place to chill with friends, eat good food, and drink well. I really liked the fact you can keep the glass of your drink when finished. This was the kind of restaurant I been looking for and glad I found it!

So many flavors of margarita, so little time. The happy hour is at the bar EVERY DAY and drinks are half price. While I ate dinner at Caliente Cab Company, I wasn't there for the food and wasn't expecting much because I was raised in the Southwest and spent substantial amounts of time in Mexico. The food's not bad if you don't expect authentic ""Mexican"" food, but the daily happy hour with so many different frozen drinks can't be beat. Try the tamarind margarita. It's an acquired taste, but it's not bad. The bartender was also awesome and mixed up a taste of it so that I could try it before buying a whole huge glass of it!

I was here Thursday night with a large table. We had to move because more people joined our party, which the waitstaff was happy to accomodate, no problem. I was impressed by the bar decor - very cool baklighting makes it look kind of retro and gives it a chic feel - but the music was so loud I couldn't hear any conversations 2 people away, which made it hard for a group. The food was pretty standard in my opinion - nothing to rave about except for the guacomole. I highly recommend this guac as it is the most flavorful I've had, and made to order. My chicken tacos were bland except for the avocado salsa that came with them. I know we were in midtown, but I felt like the prices were a little high for such standard food.

Caliente Cab Co caught me by surprise. Their food is really good. The guacamole rivals that of Dos Caminos and is better than Rosa's. The salsa that they give you is really tasty with just hte right amount of spice. I had the chicken quesidilla which was really good. The decor is modern, trendy and spacious. They have a great brunch special where for $10 you get a spanish-style breakfast and 2 cocktails.
