I was out with my buddies and we were walking around and checking out the 2nd Ave bars. There are so many to choose from. I was really hungry, so I figured BBQ sounded just right.
I had the best Fried Chicken ever. I swear I was licking my fingers. I got to pick my side, macaroni and cheese. What really surprised me was that this place had a lot of hipsters hanging out too. Cute girls, good food, Strong drinks. I will be back.

Attended the 31st. spot....had attended once before. I ordered the ribs and a cocktail. The ribs were ok. If you have had real southern food, including ribs before, you know the difference. So I go on another ocassion, for lunch while at school...let me tell every body in the USA that is interested in southern cuisine.""Jimmys BBQ is not the place to go. I was so so nausiated when i ate some of their collard greens. Inside a huge leaf of collards was a huge spider..thats right..smack dead in the middle of my bowl. disgusting..every time i pass this nasty place, im become instantly sick. They do not know how to clean freakin greens...Its so sad,,,,,never again.

sliders were hockey pucks, mac and cheeese was dry,and curdled, pulled pork tasted days old, ribs, not sure how they are cooked, but tasted like they were steamed, brisket was a poor excuse for BBQ. overall food was terrible, none in the party was happy.. as we are staying in NY for the next week, we'll deifnately look elsewhere to eat BBQ

I've been to restaurants that have gone downhill but Brother Jimmys has gone down the Grand Canyon. What a disaster! They've skimped on the good cuts of pork rib and now serve scrawny, gristle, mostly bone ribs. The biscuit was microwaved! Who would do that to a buttermilk biscuit, It's sacrilege! The corn bread was old and stale and the sweet potato fries were burned at the ends, wilted and mushy. The drinks, I had a frozen margarita, you must try it to understand why I did not like it. It's indescribable. The only good thing about the experience was the pleasant staff. Don't go there for the food.

This place is terrible. I've eaten in numerous times, as well as ordered take-out. The food has no taste, and for bbq thats just ridiculous. Luckily, they provide marinades on the table for you to apply at your leisure. I have been consistently disappointed here, and have gotten to the point where I will eat nearly anywhere else. O, and the free fishbowl, despite being free, is not worth it - its pretty gross.

Went to this location on friday and had no service at all. A friend and I arrived around 830p and were told there was a short wait to be seated. We had no problem waiting since it was a little crowded. We waited about 10 min and were excited to be seated so quickly. Everything went downhill from there! We waited 15 min as waitresses passed our table to serve other customers. I tried to be patient but after a table of 5 that was seated after us was served I got up and spoke to the Hostess who apologized and told me she would get someone to us. Waited another 10 min and then left without anyone even taking our drink order after 30min! Thankfully we then went to the 92nd & 3rd Brother Jimmy's Bait Shack and the service & food was Great. I recommend skipping this location and going to 92nd, even though its a little far you won't regret it.

I know how much most people have food snobs who bash their favorite restaurants, but the food here is a disgrace to Southern cooking. Given the poverty and lack of industrialization of much of the South's history - the cuisine tends to emphasize cheap ingredients cooked very simply. Fried chicken, bbq, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, etc. - nothing fancy or expensive here.
Given such a low hurdle to jump over, Jimmy's BBQ fails abysmally. Crunchy food comes out soggy, hot food comes out cold, and everything tastes awful. I'll give two stars since the service was ok, they make some effort in providing an atmosphere (as tacky as it is), and other people seem to enjoy it.
Go to Great Jones cafe if you want good Southern food in the city. Or...anywhere else.

The service is definitely something to rave about...they took care of everything we told them we could n couldn't eat and made sure we would be happy with our choices, and they were absolutely correct...when the dishes came out, we were very pleased....they also have some great desserts....how can u pass up on dessert?
