I work in midtown and we're always looking for a nice place that's quick and not mobbed. I've been to this place several times and each time, have had a great experience. When they are busy (which seems to be most of the time), they are great about accomidating you. The service is great, the food is delicious (try the salads - they are GIGANTIC!), and the prices can't be beat for this area. Highly recommend it.

Yes, it is a little crowded, but that is b/c Charlie and Christian (owners, who are there daily to make sure every single thing on the menu tastes perrfet) have found the formula for a variety of delicious pizzas and entrees. I am telling you, the sauce in the best. I would argue with a straight face that the food at Bella Vita is fresher and higher quality then just about anything else in the 5 boroughs. I know, bold comment. The kitchen is WIDE OPEN, come in and watch the staff stirring the fresh sauce, cutting up fresh basil, or throwing some pies and calzones in the oven. Sit down and have a full meal, or grab a slice on the go...you will not be disappointed. Don't be fooloed by the Times Square location, this is not touristy nonsense food. If it isn't on the menu, ask for it, and I guarantee they will make whatever you want. I crave Bella Vita food an regularly brave the 43rd street mob scene to eat here. Please, enjoy!

I first want to thank the owner for such fabulous service on all of our visits (yes, more than one lol!) recently when we ate with them! Simply wonderful! We were part of a group of students and parents from Enterprise, Alabama on a Show Choir trip and we got to NYC a little late in the day and had to hurry to get food and to our show on time. We were seated at 7:00 pm and our AMAZINGLY FRESH PIZZA & PASTA & SALADS were all served, eaten, paid for & us walking out the door at 7:24! We were NOT late for our show just one block away (Mary Poppins)! It was soooo good & was just right for our budget. We didn't over-order and simply split a LARGE pizza and some pasta and noone left hungry (and we had high school kids to feed lol!) We loved it so much that we came back again & we told all our friends! We wouldn't have know about it, but I just happened to think, want to eat good? Ask a policeman? So there just happened to be an officer standing right there in Times Square and HE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IT! And it was only about 1/2 block off Broadway if that far on 42nd street! I miss it already! Rest assured, I will tell anyone visiting that they MUST EAT HERE! Thanks again for making our trip so wonderful! Liane & Lindsey Cutts & the rest of the Enterprise Alabama Encores Show Choir!

Bella Vita is the 1st place my wife and I go when visiting NYC. The pizza is among the best we've ever tasted and their other food offerings are abosolutely fabulous! Service has always been good and the prices are right. On a trip to NYC in Sept. 07, we went on a pizza tasting hunt throughout the city and into Brooklyn where we ate at Grimaldi's Pizzera, and let me say, the pizza at Bella Vita was every bit as good as it was at the infamous Grimaldi's. Can't wait to get back to NYC and go to Bella Vita! AWESOME!!!

Jan 2007 - I was in town to see a concert with a few friends. We were hoping to eat at ESPN Zone. The lines were so long there that we would have been late to the concert. We decided to look around for another place and just by luck found Bella Vita! We had eggplant paninis and they were delicious! The pizza we saw on display looked awesome. This place has a warm friendly atmosphere. It was very clean looking and was reasonably priced! I will definitely stop back there the next time I am in the city! Try it... you'll like it!

I have never had pizza like that. It was totally fresh. It was like my mouth was alive for the first time. I couldn't believe it, I did not know pizza could taste so good. There other dishes are fantastic, too. The Fra Diavlo was out of this world. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for really good food at a reasonable price. The service was one of the best parts of my several trips there. They are attentive, warm and make you feel like your coming over to their house for dinner, it was a real pleasure. This is a real restaurant. Do your self a favor and stop in... you will be amazed.

We started off our visit to NYC with a group of friends and ordered family-sized portions of fresh salad, spaghetti and meatballs, and pizza with sausage, mushroom and pepperoni. We knew it was impossible for just 5 of us (3 being guys) to finish it all but by some miracle, we cleaned every plate! The salad was simple but very tasty with olives and vinigraitte dressing. The meatballs were great and the pizza, oh, it was lovely. There was just the right amount of sauce and toppings and the crust was perfection. I almost never eat pizza and even I volunteered to finish off the last slice. My boyfriend and I returned another night on our own. He ordered the same pizza in a small size (12 in.) and I had a Penne with plum-tomato basil sauce. We started off with a salad of mozzarella, tomatoes, red and yellow peppers and balsmic and olive oil which was pretty good. The pasta, again, was very simple, but extremely tasty. Like before, we finished everything. Quite inexpensive, great for date-night or going out with friends.

We go into NYC every 3 months, and on each visit, we go to Bella VIta for their amazing pizza. It wouldn't be a trip into NYC without it! It is the best Pizza we have ever had, and we have had a lot of pizza over the years. Fresh Mozzarella makes all the difference in the world, and fresh basil and tomatoes! WOW, makes me want a slice right now! The service is great, and the owner is always on site. I haven't been there without there without seeing a line of police officers waiting for a fresh slice. That has to say something for the place. Trust me, you have to try it and you will be hooked.

From the moment we walked into this quaint and warmly decorated restaurant we fell in love with the entire experience. We went for a late night slice of pizza and were drawn to the ""brick oven pizza"" advertized on the sign outside. We were greeted by a friendly server, Katarina, who escorted us to the area reserved for those of us with a lighter/quick bite in mind. The pizza was AMAZING!!! There were about 3 waves of cops that stopped in to gather to-go boxes while we were there and they were raving about the place too. The owner, Charlie, was genuinly interested in our feedback and when he heard me say it was the best pizza ever, he personally invited my friend and I to return to try some of his pasta. The following night when we had more time to sit down and enjoy the meal we returned. Charlie and all his staff were so attentive and friendly. He recommended the pasta dishes and even prepared us a miniture pizza appetizer since I told him that I wasn't sure I could get anything other than another slice of the most wonderful pizza ever. The pasta was incredible as well; noodles so fresh you could definitly tell they were home made. Both Charlie and Katarina took time to visit with us and tell us about their respective history. You can tell that everyone enjoys working there. We thought we were going to burst from all the food when Charlie brought out dessert....all I can say is Oh my gawd!!! So we ended up eating at Bella Vita 3 out of the 4 days we were in town and on the last day we even got a pizza to go and ate it on the plane....we were the envy of everyone. You have GOT to check this place out.

Bella Vita is just a small nasty place in the theatre district meant to attract out-of-towners who think all pizza is good in nyc. Bella Vita's pizza is horrific and the rest of thier food the same. You cannot even classify it as Italian food. New Yorkers, Stay away! And hopefully it will go out of business soon, then maybe someone who knows Italain food can open up in its place!

This place has the best pizza in all of New York. The pasta is cooked right in front of you with fresh ingedients. Huge Salads. Friendly service. You know it is good if the cops and constructions workers eat there on a regular. It is cramped but it still manages to feel like home.

Bella Vita has the best pizza anywhere in the city! I am constantly bringing friends and co-workers to try their delicious pepperoni pizza. I even brought fourteen of my friends there for my birthday and every effort was made to seat us as quickly as possible. The service is always prompt and friendly, and the owner will make sure that you don't miss your B'way show. At night that lights are dimmed and candles are put on the table to add a romantic feel. It is totally worth fighting the crowds of toursists on Broadway to get a taste of Bella Vita.
