I visited on time a couple weeks ago, had just landed and picked up my sis and headed over to the club. The DJ was 'slamming' and the drinks were flowing... i had a blast!!! it was a Thursday night so i can't speak for any other night only 'Thursday Nite' i loved it so much i will be back in 2wks... scheduled my flight to land in NY by 7pm LOL
Downside, its a bit small so room to dance is limited but hey i made use of what i had so i would definitely recommend going there (at least on a Thursday night) :-)

I went here over the weekend. The crowd was hype but the venue was too small for the amount of guests. The leather seats need to be redone they had holes in them, probably from women standing on them in their heels. They opened the bottom floor but didnt hype it up so no one moved down to it. Mad Scientist, DJ Magic and DJ Apache set up the vybz for a disappointment with DJ Legend during the primetime hours. The drinks were expensive but pretty good. Overall a good experience besides the music towards the end. No new reggae music was played and hardly any new Rap and R&B, the man clearly did not know his music. I recommend this club if you do bottle service, if not be ready to be squished among the crowd of other guests.

well, I don't usually write reviews, but since I frequent citysearch i thought I would help you guys out. Aura is pretty much an awful bar. I went there last night (a saturday) for a friends birthday and it was way too crowded (but with no obvious standards or dress code) the front door people were rude, and the drinks are very expensive. On the subject of drinks, our bartender was completely clueless. We asked her to make 3 different shots and she didn't know any of them. Finally she pretended to know the fourth and made it completely wrong (bailys in a shot that is supposed to be jager, peach and cran, really?) We ended up not getting shots, instead just a vodka sour and a vodka cran.. and she must have asked me 4 times what i ordered. They were the weakest drinks I have ever had, and I'm a lightweight. FINALLY the cherry on top was that when i handed her my credit card to pay $22 for two well vodka drinks she said ""oh sorry its a $50 dollar minimum and an automatic 20% tip, so do you want to leave it open""
over all, it is bad, overpriced and not worth the trip.

Some friends and I went to Aura last night because Wednesdays are supposed to be a professional after work party. The flyer said open bar until 7pm and free buffet until 8pm. We got there at 6:30pm and were told the open bar is closed and it was only house vodka. They did have food, but it ran out around 7:15. In terms of the crowd...it appeared that the men were a good 5 years younger than the women. Additionally, when I hear professional after work party I assume dress pants and shoes not jeans, sneaks, and outfits with too much cleavage. We stayed an hour and a half and left. We were told that everyone did come from work (I really hope folks didn't wear some of those outfits to work)...perhaps they were coming from jobs that don't require dress clothes (hhhhmmm and that is all I have to say about that). With all that being said, I will not be going back.
Went here for the first time last week. I had never heard of it before but saw people around outside its entrance so my girlfriends and I decided it was just as good a spot as any to go in to for a drink and dance. This place is awesome!!! It's kinda small but the DJ was playing great music. My friends and I danced all night. Drinks were really spectacular. The bartender was very friendly but never over the top. Definitely the kind of place you'd want to go to regularly. Thanks for making my night!
All was pretty decent until I received my cc statement a few days later. It may have just been a key in error on the part of the bartender, or that they decided they deserved another 20% on top of the total AND tip.
Makes you wonder. Make sure you get a bill after they close out and do the final run on your card.

When I came to this place I thought it was small but then it had a second floor which is wide open so there is more room for dancing. The bathrooms were clean. I had vip and thats the best part of clubbing, so if you want your own private vip this place allows you to have it. The employees were nice and lots of beautiful ladies. This is a place I would like to go back to.

The space is unimaginative, 90% is roped off for bottle service, they disrespect their DJs (the booth is laughable) and really don't give a hoot about anything except taking advantage of you/how many bottles are being bought. No space to dance, no space to party, nary a space to mingle. It's only saving grace is Big O's Saturday night hip-hop party. Otherwise, wait till the location's next reincarnation. Maybe 5 times is a charm?

i went to Aura with about 10 friends for my birthday. we were greeted at the door by a bouncer who thought it was necessary to make us stand outside in the sleet and hail for 10 minutes before letting us in, even though there was no line. Once we got in, there was another bouncer standing at the ""curtain"" to the bar...four people from my party with jackets on walked into the bar no problem.. after them my friend and i walked up to the curtain and the bouncer insisted that we check our jackets. I told him that i did not want to check my jacket, and that i rather hold onto it since it was new, and he told me that it i had to check my jacket or he was going to ""ask me to leave"". As i told him once again that i wanted to hold on to my jacket, three ladies walked right up to him with big puffy jackets on, and he told them to have a good night and let them right in. After i saw this, i told him that i did not want to check my jacket, and i shouldn't have to if those other girls didn't, and again he threatened to kick me out of the bar. Finally, i gave in and checked my coat, only because the rest of my party was waiting for me inside, and i felt completely ridiculous to be standing outside arguing with the bouncer.
I do not know what the bouncer was basing his decision on about who was required to check their coat and who wasn't (gender, race, looks.. who knows?)... but the double standards and unprofessionalism shown at this place assures i will never recommend this bar to anyone, nor ever go back.

If you want to have a good time stay away. The generic music and the lousy over price drinks are not worth the hassle. Espcially when you have bouncers at the door who salary is less than a pair of shoe in my closet. If you want to have a good time go else where. Beware ladies and gents most of the time when you see a place that is five star it is written by the owner or someone who works in the place. I've worked in places where the owner of the place have ask the staff to write a nice review to get people to come into their establishment.

A very average place. Aura is nice enough, the music is actually a really good selection of R&B and hip-hop. Bathrooms are really pretty and clean, Tables are large and spacious but that's where it all stops. Drinks are decent but bartenders try to tack on ""your discretionary tip"" into your bill. Cover is $20 for guys on a Friday night (Who charges cover anymore?). Given the crowd and the way things are handled here, this place is really amateur hour for the people who go out in the city a couple of times a year. For real New Yorkers, look elsewhere, you will only be disappointed.

We walked into this place and walked right back out after the guy inside the door decided to write huge A's all up our forearm in red permanent marker. I have never experienced anything more ridiculous in my 27 years living in NY. This place should be avoided at all costs!!!! we had one drink there....rubbing alcohol and cranberry. whatever it was IT WAS NOT vodka.......People at the door were rude, inside it wasnt much better. Everyone in there looked like a complete loser dork. I imagine the first two reviews ar emade by fellow dorks who dont know what good is because this is seriously the worst place ever. TRUST ME!! I never write reviews but just wanted to warn all of u since i sometimes come to citysearch for ppls opinions that please, for your own sake, pick another place!!! We ended up at gaslight afterwards and it was a blast.....

very nice place to celebrate your birthdays. I was there for my birthday two weeks ago, the experience was unbelieveable, every staff there is very nice and helpful. I invited over 40 friends and they all got in for free and with no problem at the door. My table service was great too, they were constantly making sure I was treated alright. Three thumps up for this place, highly recommended. I will definitely go back there with my friends.. PS: tons of hot guys and girls.

Stopped by on a Friday nite with some friends and had a great time. DJ was pumpin some HOT hip hop/r&b, the crowd was lovely. Drinks were easily accessible despite the place being packed. Everyone there seemed to be having a blast. We didnt get to check out the VIP booth up top as it was already taken but that will be for another time. The downstairs room made it seem like I was in two different lounges. I have and will definitely visit AURA in the very near future. Great crowd to go w/an aesthetically pleasing lounge!!!!
