Assara Laser Hair Removal
23 W 45th St, New York, NY 10036
I'm a tough customer, which is to say I've been to 2 other laser hair removal places and I find Assara to be the best place in manhattan. I had 5 treatments at assara and I'm going for my last laser hair removal session in 2 weeks. I find this place to be very professional and super modern and clean. The lasers they use look new and between laser hair removal sessions I've seen a drastic reduction in the amount of hair that actually grows back. They really go in-depth asking lots of background questions to make sure they put the laser at the right setting so you get maximum results (no hair growing back EVER!) with minimum pain. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking to laser hair removal. The laser techs are really attentive and thorough... they don't miss a hair!
Just finished my third treatment at Assara (I purchased 3 treatments from LivingSocial). What a nice experience I had. I found the newly renovated place beautiful and artsy, the treatments pleasant (surprisingly no pain at all!), and the laser specialists knowledgable and sweet. I just purchased another package of 3 treatments for my bikini, and am very much looking forward to coming back in 6 weeks. I would not hesitate to recommend Assara to my friends.
I bought a coupon for 3 treatments. The first treatment was ok with Gloria, a few days later Angela called me to see how it went, I told her that I was still seeing a lot of hair on my legs and she had me come in to redo the treatment which on the one hand was nice but on the other hand, why do I need to go in twice instead of them doing a good job the first time - I don t have much time to waist. My second treatment went ok, the third treatment I was late for an appointment because of traffic and Angelo threw a hissy fit and told me she couldn't take me then but she "would be nice and wouldn't charge me" for the missed treatment. Mind you, she was NOT nice about the whole thing at all and there was no one waiting there - I am pretty sure I was the only person in the salon and she could have easily just done my treatment which takes 15 minutes anyway. I left emptyhanded and then when I came in another time to get my third treatment Angela told me that she applied my third treatment payment the time that I was late and now I had to pay the full $345 for the treatment. What??? If I knew she applied the coupon I would have never showed up to pay the full price in the first place! They waisted my time and clearly demonstrated that they have no concept of customers service whatsoever. Clearly if the place is placing groupons and living socials promotions they are trying to drum up new business - then why go about pissing potential new customers off in the process?? Who does this? Especially given that there are a million laser shops in Manhattan offering same or better deals? Bottom line - these people are rude, don't know how to conduct business and don't deserve your money and time - go someplace else!

I had a uni brow my whole life. I was made fun of as a kid, and I knew the girls didn't like it as I got older.
I came here to get it removed and all I can say is that my social life is flipped around to the opposite extreme.
People smile at me more often, like when I go on the bus or the train, and the girls are more available suddenly. :)

I finally decided it was time to try out laser hair removal when I found a special deal online. My friend had microdermabrasion treatments at Assara, but I thought I would try them for laser hair removal. I removed most of my hair after 3 sessions on my bikini. I

i'm currently looking for a place to do laser hair removal for a good price. i've tried assara in the past (end of 2009) and just thought i'd take a look at deals before contacting them. i was shocked at all the reviews, specially the very few bad ones and the suggestion that they write good reviews for themselves (which i could believe since few places do that). my experience with them was as follows: i've tried both Angela and Liz, for me i prefered Liz. she was easier to talk to and warm up to. I can see where the other reviews coming from about Angela, she does feel condescending and cold. liz did explain the process in total for me, it was my absloute first time doing laser so i went in and had her do a test patch, which she did, and i was in great pain, and she was more than fine with rescheduling and offered (sold) me numbing cream for next time to ease the pain . went next time and had applied the cream 45 mins in advance, had the treatment (was brazilian) was still painful but i could tolerate more. she was very thorough and made sure she covered all spots in the area. she asked me frequently if i was ok and took breaks to let me breathe. she also applied aloe vera after the treatment was over. and treatment was very effective. i was actually clean for about 2.5 months after. then i scheduled my 2nd one, that time i had angela, which i was less than thrilled with her. the hair grow much faster after her treatment, her response when i mentioned it is that it's only the first time that has such result coz of the ""shock"". which is not true, i've had sessions else where with same first time great result. she must have had a lower setting. i'm now looking for a full body laser deal and not sure where i'd do it. any recomendations ladies? gents? :)

I had my first laser facial at Assara. Not completely what I was expecting from a facial, but not disappointing either. My skin definitely looks better, though the laser technician says I will probably need at leat three more treatments. This was different from the pimple-skweezing facials I expected, the technician did a good job of explaining how the laser works to tighten skin and make it more flawless and glowing. My skin was a little red right after.. My doorman (who?s a huge flirt) said I was glowing? So good results I'd say.

I decided to bight the bullet and give up shaving and waxing forever, so i chose Assara to permanently laser away the hair on my underarms, legs, upper lip and bikini area. Every time I go to Assara I have a good experience, they are polite and professional and always listen to me with regards to my needs. I still have 3 treatments left, but already i see the hair is growing in lighter, i,m so excited by the results. Thanks Assara! Very worth it!!
Ever since I heard about airbrushing on magazines I’ve been trying to get glossy perfect magazine skin. I’ve tried scrubs and makeup like everyone else, but the best thing I’ve found so far is microdermabrasion at Assara. They really take their time and analyse your skin and make sure you’re going to walk out with smoother softer more even looking skin. You face will have a pinkish glow when you walk out and the next morning you’ll see and feel the difference. The laser technician suggested I try a laser facial to remove dark spots and nothing works like it! I read that some NYC celebrities go to Assara, and Ii believe it. They are amazing and dedicated to clients.
I would never admit that I had a ‘mustache’, but after my mother and a close friend commented on my hairy upper-lip hair situation I knew I had to do something about it. I thought about waxing… But the idea of seeing stubble when it grew back was just too gross. I always thought laser hair removal was too painful and too expen$ive, but when I called Assara I realized that it wouldn’t make a huge dent in my budget. I’ve done 3 laser treatments now and my ‘mustache’ is a thing of the past. Assara is clean and convenient and the treatment takes less than 5 minutes. My boyfriend even commented that something looked beautiful and different on my face. I just smiled and thought ‘Thanks Assara!’

Purchased a voucher on Livingsocial for 3 underarm treatments. Compared to other facilities I have visited, this one was a little sub par, but it was clean. The first person I encountered was a woman who I believe is named Angela (not that she introduced herself) who I assume was the patient coordinator since she handled my paperwork and finances. Then again, she was wearing scrubs, so she could have been a technician. Her approach was a bit abrasive and borderline condescending. There was even a point where I considered walking out on the appointment all together. I chalked it up to the language barrier and shrugged it off. On the other hand, my technician was a delight. I do wish they offered gowns or applied a cream/lotion to the treated area, otherwise it was a good experience. The Front desk was also super nice. If it wasn't for my experience during the initial consultation I would have given Assara a higher rating.

I signed up for unlimited $ 599.00 program. After 8 months and $ 4800.00 later, I do not see very good results. My underarms are kind of reasonable but all other areas have much hair. They rush you through treatments. Oh, also they advertise this at $ 449.00 on other places so pricing is sketchy. do your research.

Make sure you get you have Angela as your specialist. Absolutely amazing!!
I have been going to Assara for the past 3 years, and it is very far from where I live, but the only reason I continue to go is becuase of Angela. She has been treating me, and she does a fantastic job. She is very professional, focused, really cares about you and your body, and does not miss a spot. She is very patient and gentle. I am very pleased with the results I have been getting, and highly recommned her. Thank you Angela! KB

I was a skeptic when I went to Assara for laser hair removal on my legs. I had been receiving laser treatment at a different clinic and after two sessions, there was no impact whatsoever. A friend recommended I try Assara instead.
Angela was completely professional, asked me questions, answered my concerns, was willing to let me pay for a single treatment so I could gain confidence but still allowed me to avail of the package deal when I was ready.
The application of the laser itself was only slightly uncomfortable in certain places (like ankles) but Angela is extremely good at managing that.
I completed all 6 sessions and all of the dark hair on my legs has gone.
Because I am naturally fair haired, there is still some residual blond hair that isnt impacted by the laser but this isnt really noticable.
My only recommendation if youre going for leg hair removal, is to start during the winter....as youre advised not to shave / wax in between treatments.
Also advise purchasing hydro cortisan cream to slather on post treatment - as my skin became quite itchy after each session.
Overall - would totally, totally recommend Assara. Am looking fwd to a hair-free, hassle-free summer!

The staff at Assara is very professional and friendly. I have been going to Angela for almost 9 months now for laser hair removal. I started with my bikini and that went so well that I have added my underarms and legs. Angela is meticulous and does a great job. I have not had an ingrown hair since I have been going to her. Seriously, ZERO INGROWN HAIR. My skin is so smooth, it surprises me when I remember how it used to be for me, with the shaving and the cuts and the ingrown hairs and razor bumps… laser hair removal isn’t cheap but it’s the best way to get smooth hairless skin for ever.

I had a laser hair removal treatment on my upper legs, yesterday. I have olive skin with dark hair and hate shaving the back of my thighs. I get ingrown hair and often you can see my hair under the skin so it looks like stubble. This is the second time that I have visited assara for laser hair removal and both times I found that my fears were worse than reality. It doesn’t hurt as much and is faster than I expected.
Where do I begin? First of all, I thought this place was going to be great, having a 5-star review and all with 99.9% percent reviews being perfect. So I decided to give it a try and quickly made an appointment for a consultation. When I got there, I was completely ignored and waited a ridiculous amount of time. Then, I finally met with the consultant who had the worst, bitchiest attitude I probably had ever seen. I decided to do my full face, which was very expensive, but I did it anyway and paid full price with no discounts. The pain was excruciating the first time. The second time I went, I thought the technician would be nicer and I would have a better experience and boy was I wrong...every single time I went she would have the worst attitude. I would feel so un welcomed, and I would just want to leave every time I went. I'm about to end my 7 sessions, only to find out I need more sessions because I'm "not done". If the technician was truly a professional she would have known how many I would have need the very first time I got there. Now, she wants me to pay practically the same price I paid the first time. All she wants is your money!! I would always have terrible breakouts and when I told her she gave me this ridiculous daily routine that I knew would dry out my face. I tried it anyways and thats exactly what happened, it dried out my face. I did my own routine and my face started clearing up. When she found out I wasn't doing what she told me, she was bring her bitchy attitude again. How unprofessional, rude and annoying. I lie to her every time now telling her I am doing exactly what she tells me just to shut her up. And I would laugh every time she mentioned how my face was clearing up because little did she know I was doing the opposite of what she would tell me. The only time she was nice to me is when she knew I would pay her, either for a ridiculous and expensive moisturizer for my face which made it worse, or for touch-ups. What does that tell you? She's CRAZY if she thinks I'm coming back to this place. She thinks she knows everything, when in fact she gives irrelevant information. You're much better off going somewhere else.
Oh and about all those 5-star reviews? They write those themselves. I totally regret going here. Even if I do need touch-ups, i MUCH rather go somewhere else. I'm just telling you my experience here. So, GO AT YOUR OWN RISK OR DON'T GO AT ALL!!

I just got a laser facial and combined it with microdermabrasion at Assara. It was very very good. The laser woman was sweet and gave me a great facial. I feel refreshed and my skin looks great. The first time I went to Assara I thought I was in the wrong place, it looks like a doctor’s office. They’re not really like a spa, it’s more like a clinic, which is good because I’ll take and clean and efficient over relaxing mumbo-jumbo.
It wasn't cheap, but I'm happy with the results. I live by the motto you get what pay for anyway.
