I take all of my shoes to Arty's - high cost items from Max Mara, Margiela, Missoni, and more - and he always makes them look new again. I also love the chit-chat and jokes that come with the excellent service - Arty is a sweetheart and a funnyman. He's also very kind - I told him about my upcoming wedding in May and he gave me a couple of insoles to place in my shoes (for free!) so I could dance the night away without pain. I'll be sure to take my Christian Louboutin wedding shoes to him for his signature rubber red-soles!

Arty's is the best shoe repair ever! I can always count on him to restore my shoes beautifully when I think that I have damaged them beyond repair. He also has a great eye, and has creative solutions to keep my shoes going after I think there is not a chance left that they can be fixed. I highly recommend Arty's for any shoe repair needs - they are the only place I trust with my shoes!

Arty's is the only place I take my shoes. Don?t be misled by the shop appearance, it is a working shop. No matter how white or delicate your shoes, they will come back to you as good as new (or better).
Arty and his men can work miracles. I have taken them shoes that I am actually embarrassed to show them because I never should have let them get to that level of disrepair. Each time, Arty?s has saved them. They have given new life to some of my favorite shoes and boots.
I highly recommend Arty?s for anyone who sees their shoes as an investment. I pay a lot for my shoes and appreciate the fact that they are in good hands with Arty. Even after moving to Brooklyn and trying a few recommended places closer to home or work, I still make the trip back to Arty?s. Arty will talk to you about what will or won?t work. He will give you options of things to do. Arty is honest. He is an owner who actually works with his staff and takes pride in his product. You can?t say that about many places.
If you doubt my recommendation, look around his shop when you are there?see what kind of shoes he is working on. That many women who entrust him with their Christian Louboutins cannot be wrong. Arty?s is truly a place for the well loved shoe.

I brought in a pair of Luciano Padovan peep-toe pumps because the soft-pink soles were scuffed up pretty badly. There were glowing reviews in New York Magazine, and I read in Elle that Christian Louboutin send customers to Arty's because he's able to match that particular shade of red on the soles. So I figured the soft-pink soles on the Padovans would be a piece of cake. I just wanted the deep scuff marks sanded out, and the soft-pink restored. The guy's demeanor seemed alright - he wasn't rude as other reviewers have reported - but when I asked him to restore the soft-pink soles, he said there was no way for him to match the pink. So I asked him to fix the deep scuff marks at least, which he tried to do by rubbing it with a really rough piece of sandpaper for about 10 minutes. But that just made the problem even worse! Then he took a can of spray paint and sprayed the scuffs HE made!! But the spray paint was hot pink, instead of soft pink, so obviously, it didn't match. So he got some thinner, in an attempt to rub off the spray paint. Instead, the thinner turned the hot pink into GRAY splotches, and wrecked the soles even further!! Then he handed them back to me, charged me $20 for the service, and told me to buy a bottle of nail polish at Duane Reade to fix them. Why am I paying him $20 so I can put nail polish on my shoes??? Finally, on the recommendation of a friend, I took the same pair of Luciano Padovan's to Shoe Service Plus on 55th Street, and the guys there not only fixed the deep scuffs, but they were able to get rid of the gray splotches Arty put on the shoes, and basically restore the shoes to BRAND NEW condition. I couldn't believe my eyes!! Shoe Service Plus returned my shoes after a week, and they looked as if I JUST BOUGHT THEM. They looked brand spanking new. My conclusion: Arty's is over-rated. His service is horrible. According to other reviewers, he's got a nasty temper. How and why he gets top ratings by all these magazines, I have no clue.

I first heard about Arty's on CitySearch and tried it out with a friend's Gucci loafers... they were re-soled, polished (complimentary) and came out looking amazing. I am extremely vigilant with bag/shoes upkeep and even though I live in Boston, I decided that Arty was the guy to go to ... I overnighted a Prada bag and some heels in desperate need of some TLC and sure enough, a few days later, I picked them up and they looked brand new. He does amazing work, is extremely friendly and the price is certainly worth every penny. As far as the review below, I highly disagree... Arty is generous, professional, and extremely flexible and knowledgeable. I highly recommend him!

I just recently purchased a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes and wanted to have a thin layer of protective rubber put on the bottom - but i also wanted it to be red! I read reviews in NY mag and heard they were the best. I just picked them up yesterday and could not be more thrilled. They truly did a phenominal job. I also brought in a pair of boots that were in desperate need of help since i wear them around the city almost daily. When i got them back - they looked like new. Additionally, Arty is an absolute doll. He wanted to make sure i was happy with the work, which i completely appreciated since most good shoe repair shops in the city are completely impersonal. His prices are good and workmanship is excellent. You really can't ask for anything more!

I had heard good things about Arty's, which is why I brought my favorite boots there when they needed to be fixed. I was told that it would be a big job - they needed to take part of the shoe apart to fix it - and an expensive one, but I was ok with that. I told them I'd be leaving the country for a few months, and needed the shoes by the following friday to take them with me, and they said it would be no problem. I paid my deposit and thought everything would be fine.
I came back on Friday afternoon, and after a lot of searching, they admitted that they hadn't even started the job. Could I come back on Monday? I repeated that I was leaving the country (my flight was that Saturday afternoon), and they apologized and said the boots would be ready by Saturday at 10 am. I said ""really, they'll be ready at 10am tomorrow?"" and they replied, rather snootily, ""yes, we said 10, they'll be ready at 10."" Nevermind that they had also said friday and they weren't ready.
I came back at 11am on Saturday, and the job still hadn't been started. They apologized, and offered to fix the shoes and have them shipped to me, but by then I was fed up (and to be honest I didn't trust them anymore). I took my boots - and my deposit- back. To make matters worse, not only were the shoes not fixed, they were filthy from sitting in the shop all week! So I had wasted a week, still had boots that were breaking, and now they were dirty. If they had told me from the beginning that the timeline was not feasible, I would have no complaint. Arty's may do good work, but I think they should treat their customers honestly and with more respect.
Arty and his team are true craftspeople. They have restored shoes for me that no other shoe repair spot that I found was able to do. If they don't get it right the first time they'll keep at it until you are satisfied. Arty's is truly one of the best businesses in the neighborhood.
Arty is amazing! I have brought many pairs of shoes to him and not only do they come back looking brand new, I get amazing service and quick turnaround. Where else would you go when Jeffrey (the store) send all of their shoes to him? Highly recommended for anyone needing a repair, stretch or sole. Also, I love that he can do the red sole for my louboutin's.

Arty and his team have worked miracles. They have saved many of my designer shoes from damage caused by hard new york city streets, rain, snow and even denim stains from my jeans! And his prices are always fair. Even though he has lots of business from top designer shops in the area, he gives the same care and attention to my $100 shoes. I live across the street from Arty and he and his entire staff are so friendly and helpful. - they really do feel like neighbors. Even if I left the neighborhood I would go out of my way to see Arty.

As soon as I get a new pair of shoes (which is extremely often), I take them to Arty's before I even wear them. Their services protect and enhance the longevity of shoes. The staff is friendly and really takes time to find what would be best for each shoe (example: they match the sole color AND the sides of the sole to the shoe upper) Also, they have red soles for Louboutin's - what more could you ask for?!!?
Everything I own goes straight to Arty's to be soled, and then goes back down the road for basic maintenance, after which my shoes come out looking new. They're great with bags too (repair, weatherproof, clean - whatever), and treat the good stuff just as nicely as you do...
I bring all my shoes here and they always do great work! They stand by there work and have good suggestions (based on how I destroy my shoes!). I go out of my way to go here; the prices are reasonable and the staff is helpful. Worth the trip to Arty's!

Awhile ago I took a pair of designer shoes to Arty's to replace the soles. The leather was pulled and stretched and carelessly re-soled. I did not complain at the time but was very disappointed in the service. Yesterday I needed to stretch a pair of brand new shoes and was in a hurry so I just dropped them off there, thinking it was ok. When I picked up my white shoes there was red and blue ink from the ticket that apparently soaked through and was all over the inside of the shoe. I asked them to clean the ink off. I was then rudely insulted by the owner who must of had several other complaints that day because he said ""what is it with people today"" as he stormed into the back of his store. He then began slamming things into the wall and yelling. While his employers were trying to calm him down I tried to explain to his workers (who were very nice and calm) that I should not be responsible for cleaning my new shoes. I brought them to be stretched and when I did they were brand new with no sort of stains on them. The stains were then removed by the owner with a harsh chemical that ate away at the leather and left a horrible mark on the shoe. He then blamed me for the stain and had the nerve to tell me that it must of happened while I was wearing them, after I had just watched him rub the harsh chemical on the shoe to try and get off the ink stains. He told me to never come back into the store as he had enough business. His employers looked on embarrassed. The insane thing is, is that I did not even raise my voice or get an attitude until he accused me of wearing brand new shoes (that by the way were too small) and then somehow leaving chemical stains on them myself. I asked for my money back and told him not to worry because I will never come back to his store nor will I recommend his services to the fashion magazine I work for, that apparently was recommending his services until one of our top editors had a bad experience with a pair of designer heels.

Arty and his fabulous team are THE BEST! I am a high-end shoe lover and every pair of shoes that I've taken to Arty have come out top-notch. The quality of service and materials used is the best around.
I've used other shoe/leather repair services in the past, and Arty tops them all.
Friendly, helpful service, and a very fast turnaround on jobs make the experience smooth and pleasurable. He even has red rubber soles for the Louboutain lovers out there.
Ladies: take your shoes to Arty, you'll be so glad you did.

I am a shoe fanatic, so when it comes to taking care of my most precious possessions, Arty?s is the only place I trust. I have brought over 100 pairs of shoes to Arty and have had everything from repairs, to rubber soles, to boot tapering done. All of Arty?s work is top notch. I bring him my Gucci?s, Ferragamo?s, Louis Vuitton?s, Chanel?s, and Prada?s and I can honestly say Arty really knows how to handle luxury goods. Hands down, he is the best shoe guy in manhattan.

I have worked with many other shoe repair shops in New York but Arty tops them all! Dont be fooled by the no-frills interior, this is where the downtown fashion set come to get their Louboutins and Maolos a little TLC . I have sent dozens of clients to Arty and they always come back happy. Whether you are looking for someone to clean up your favorite boots or to rebuild a heel that Fido chewed up (true story), Arty and his very capable crew are your go-to guys! Great prices and impeccable quality in repairs!
