Worst home service

I called Panasonic first then they told me to call Advisory TV. They charged me $243 just for a TV diagnose!
They checked my TV for about 3-5 min. then they said that they'd charge $550 to replace a digital board for service and parts. I called a different store and they say that the home diagnose service is only $60. I will never call Advisory TV again.

Plain awful

This company use to be the exclusive service provider for BestBuy for items under warranty. As of Jan 09 Bestbuy is no longer outsourcing this work but is keeping it in house via Geek Squad, not a moment too soon. There service providers are incompetent and their administrative staff are simply not truthful. They will do everything in their power to avoid admitting that they cannot fix your item. They came to my home on over 6 occasions, replaced 4 major parts of my tv, took the tv for 2 weeks to fix it in house after already coming to my home on 4 occasions and consistently lied to me about what they were telling BestBuy. To my face on more than a few occasions they said they could not fix tv yet for whatever reason they would not say this to Bestbuy. In addition while the problem I had initially occurred infrequently after this company got a hold of my tv I lost numerous functions on the TV and the problem occurred every time I turned on the TV. It was not until I contacted BestBuy corporate that my problem was resolved and I was told this company will only be the service provider on warranty items from BestBuy bought from Dec 31, 2008 and prior. My advice if you fall into this is to buy a new tv. Watch out for their warranty manager, she is by far the worse.

Worst place ever

I am an ex employee of this shop and they are the worst people ever. The managers would sit all day to think of different ways to reject the claims. They would always tell the customer they are not liable and then take the money from the manufacturer.

You should check out all the small-claims lawsuits against them.

Terrible customer service and believe it when we say SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW repairs

I initially brought in a Pioneer 5-Disc DVD Theater system for repair. The volume kn0b (I apparently can't say kn0b like a 'doorkn0b' according to city search as it is 'inappropriate language'...what about douche ya friggin' doucheb@gs?) was apparently stuck on 'low' so that the volume was always displayed on the screen and it would not come up past 0. Simple fix, right? Maybe elsewhere, not here. After an initial quote of $80 (I paid $70 for the unit on eBay) plus cost for 'any additional parts' I was told it would take 2 weeks (check the other reviews here...this is their boilerplate guess that bears no relation to reality). Reasonable, so I agree.

That was October 20th. I was told I would be called when it was ready. Today, December 5th (i.e. 3x the estimated repair time) I called in to ask WTF was up. Apparently, by some cosmic coincidence, the part they needed (of course it needs a part...more $ that way) just arrived THIS MORNING! How shockingly convenient! The only reasonable, rational reason for this would of course be that this part only grows in the deepest, darkest regions of the Amazon and the first expedition team sent to retrieve it was eaten by Pygmies or perhaps a puma while the second team fell into a den of cobra's, and finally a 3rd team retrieved the part and brought it back to NYC.

So I write my review now based solely upon my experience to date. I will amend it down to one star later if it turns out they screw the pooch on the actual repair, or if it is indeed not ready by Friday, as I suppose it will not be. Avoid like the plague. Too many other reputable joints in NYC to patronize.

I had to deal with the customer service department and they were miserable. They were always passing the blame around and running me in circles for two months in order to get my TV fixed. I would avoid doing any dealings with this business at ALL costs. I mean NEVER. ZERO STARS

honestly, I know that tv repair is suppose to be difficult, but this place is by FAR the worst. It has been a month and I still have not gotten my tv fixed. They first came (after a week), looked at the tv and said they knew what the problem was... So I had to wait 2 weeks for the part to come in, and then when it did, they came and realized that they were wrong about the problem. (I tell you what kind of repair people, dont know the problem?!?) So now I am waiting for a new part ( i have been waiting for over a week again), and have no idea when my tv will be fixed. So if you bought your TV or anything from BEST BUY, make sure they DO NOT use advisory tv to fix it. SPECIFICALLY tell them NO. They have other repair shops, tell them to use other ones

Two bad experiences with Advisory

A couple years back, I had a problem with a CD player. They took a look and gave me a reasonable estimate. However, after many weeks of having my deck in the shop, they finally called back to tell me they had grossly underestimated the amount it would be to fix the problem. I did not have the work done.

Very recently, I stopped by to have another CD deck looked at. They could not identify the problem, and asked to keep it until they could replicate the problem. I heard nothing from them for an entire week. I finally called them and asked what was going on. They still had not been able to replicate the problem and were returning my deck to the 7th ave location. When were they planning to tell me this?

honest guys with zero attitude

My Sony DVD player wasn't working, and it isn't under warranty. I called Sony and they said they could fix it -- if I sent it in with $150! So I went to Advisory. The waiting room looks sketchy, but the man at the front counter was friendly and efficient. He took it back as I waited for a few minutes. Then he told me, ""You're taking it home today!"" and explained it was a simple DVD jam and sent me off without taking a dime. As a woman, I am used to getting the runaround, and I was relieved that I didn't have to deal with any of that mishigas. That they also happened to be low-key, but professional, was a relief.

Good Service and Honest

Ive used these guys on a number of occasions over the years for repairs ranging from a microwave to a CD walkman. They provide good service and most importantly, it seems like they are not out to cheat you. For example, most recently, because they were closed, I made the mistake of bringing in a stereo I needed fixed to a different shop nearby. This other place gave me an estimate of over $100. I took the stereo to Advisory TV & Radio to get a second opinion, and much to my pleasant surprise, they fixed it in five minutes and free of charge, as the problem was evidently minor. There are repair places closer to my home, but Im willing to go out of my way to use someone whos honest and provides good service.
