OMG - SLOW slow slow. Food is just not worth it, expensive for very basic Turkish food. But you will wait a long, long, long time before you even taste it. Good luck with those waiters too. Some are ok but they also have some real jerks who have been there for years. So many options in this neighborhood I've had it with this dump.

Dreadful experience! I bought Living social deal $100 for $50. You'd think: ""nice deal"".
Nowhere in description it says limitations apply.
When came to A La Turka to redeem LivingSocial deal we were handed a ""special"" menu which had a very limited low priced items selection from a regular menu. My deal included two appetizers, two entrees, one bottle of wine and 2 deserts.
I ate at this place many times before and do know the size of their portion and let me tell you ? Living Social deal portions were half the size.
We were rushed to eat our dinner and because of that didn't have enough time to finish our wine. Wine glasses were cleaned of the table and I wanted to take my wine (paid for by me!) home and was told in a very rudely fashion;""no"". It got into a very unpleasant argument with the manager when he took half bottle of wine I paid for and walk away saying to me:""Never come back!""
Basically, steeling my wine! I could see them disagreeing on caring wine away but at least they could poor wine in glasses, letting us finish it. I was very disappointed and as I was handing to them my credit card to pay taxes on my total, expressed desire not to pay gratuity as I find the service terrible and? . I was charged 18% gratuity on a very poor service against my will. It is an abuse!

There are so many nice restaurants in this area who treat you right, feed you well and appreciate you business!
When eating out, we spend a lot, are respectful to our waiters and tip well! I am very sorry for buying this deal from Living Social.
A La Turka was one of the best dining experiences ever! Not only in Turkish restaurants. I have tried Turkish food at least in ten different places in NYC. I can tell this is the only one that makes real delicious Turkish food (according to my Turkey travel experience)The drinks were amazing, the food was to die for and the people were so friendly! We loved everything and would recommend to everyone we know. Just order mixed grill, mixed appetizer sampler and pick your favorite, if you can.

I do not agree with the other reviewers who have negative comments about this restaurant. I have been there many times and have always had attentive friendly waiters and wonderful food. I've been to Turkey several times and have always found the food to be authentic and fresh at a la turka. Favorites include the stuffed grapeleaves, the outrageous zucchini pancakes, Dolma entree and on and on. I often judge a restaurant by its bread and the Turkish bread here is warm, fresh and addictive. Leave room for the top quality baklava and turkish coffee. My friend and I always get the following white wine and love ot - Tuhu (sp?) New Zealand savignogn blanc. Yummy all round.

Decided to try this place again after a mediocre meal and level of service over the winter. I'm glad to report that A La Turka Restaurant practices consistency.
We had sat down with old friends and were catching up with conversation when the waiter asked if we were ready order. We replied that we need a few more minutes (it had only been about 5 minutes since we sat). He then proceeded to come back 3 minutes later and ask if we were ready. We were not and he stormed off and ended up sending another waiter to take our table (who by the way WAS very nice and pleasant). The worst thing is that the original waiter he kept glaring at us during the meal. Talk about uncomfortable.
When we asked the bus boy/server for another peice of bread, (they gave us 1 with our appetizer and there was 4 of us), he went back to the original waiter and started pointing at the table in another state of annoyance. Now both of these clowns were staring at us.
I've been on the UES for over 20 years and eat out every weekend, We will not be back. There are many other Turkish restaraunts in the city that are far and away better than A La Turka Restaurant. Quite frankyly, I'm surprised they have been open so long.
We now realized why this place was virtually empty on a Saturday night.

I went to A La Turka for my office's holiday party and it was one of the best meals I've had in NYC. The food was delicious, and there was such a wide variety of options. Their bread and dips were heavenly...I could have dined on those alone! We had lamb and chicken as our entrees, and the meat was so perfectly tender. The wait staff was extremely attentive and worked hard to satisfy their customers. I had no complaints whatsoever!

I love A La Turka. It is a great restaurant and they deliver. So if you had had a long day at work and just want to go home any order some fine cuisine, A La Turka is the way to go. If you have not tried it before you def. got to get on it. It is a little expensive but worth every penny.

My experience with this restaurant has been an absolute farce. After passing it in the street I took one of their delivery menus thinking the food would probably be quite nice. I decided to order delivery... And oh my good god. I placed my order over the phone and gave my credit card information. After 35mins and no food I called to see what the deal was, the guy said there were no packages there so it must be on its way. After an HOUR with still no food I called again only to find that the guy who had taken my order and my credit card information HADN'T PLACED THE ORDER!!! I had spent an hour waiting for nothing. The fool who had taken my order was out to lunch and so couldn't even comment on the situation. I was livid. They did absolutely nothing to resolve the situation either which just makes me more mad.
Who knows whether the food is good or bad but the absolute idiocy and incompetence of these fools will keep me away and keep me from ever recommending this place to anyone.
