The location is very good the service not so much. The mega room is the way to go here as it is the size of an average room you would get outside of the city. The staff are nice enough and well meaning but there is no attention to detail so if you are looking for a room close to Time Square and don't need anything from the staff this would be fine. If you are the type of person that likes room service, concierge services or pretty much anything else that the staff would provide this is not the hotel for you. Examples: Check-in ..... This went smoothly except my room was not ready when I checked in, which was fine because I was early. They told me they would call me when the room was ready and since check out is noon I figured it wouldn't be long. Three hours later I was still waiting for my room because they neglected to tell me that the people staying in that room were not checking out until 2:00pm. The manager finally gave me another room at 3:00pm. In addition I was told at check-in that I had a package and it would be delivered to my room. Great, I was expecting the package and was anxious to receive it. Three hours later I had to call and ask for the package. Concierge: Awful! We had to wait to check our bags when we were waiting for our room; we had to wait to get our bags back after we finally did get our room. We went to the concierge for information and the gentleman was on the phone so we patiently waited for at least 10 minutes with no acknowledgement from him. We finally left and did not return. At the end of our stay they had added a charge to our bill for the munchies bar (we did not eat anything from this) We called and no one answered so we left a message and three hours later we still had not received a call back. We finally had to go the front desk to resolve this. We needed a cab so we went to the door man who was hailing cabs for other guests. There was a line and we were the third party in the line. The doorman did not acknowledge us, others came behind us and he asked where they needed to go but still nothing for us. Finally the two parties in front of us left and he still did not acknowledge us but continued to ask the people behind us their destination and even hailed cabs for some of the people behind us. I guess he expected us to give up but we stayed and finally a cab pulled up to drop off a passenger and he waves us over sand said, “you can take this one”. The next night we walked 15 feet beyond the hotel entrance and hailed a cab ourselves and were on our way in less than a minute. For the remainder of our stay we hailed our own cabs and arranged our own drivers. The Acura Experience was the best thing about this hotel. There is only the one vehicle so it is difficult to get a time slot so plan ahead and reserve your time. The gentleman came into the lobby and escorted us out, he treated us like we were royalty (and he was genuine), he was very personably and talked with us while he drove us to our destination, we were even offered bottled water, at our destination he dropped us in the exact right place and was the most professional staff we encountered. A huge thumbs up to the Acura staff. (I have to wonder if they are even employed by the hotel because the service was so out of character from the other staff). Housekeeping: The room was made up nice so no problem there but she did report that we used an item from the munchie bar when we did not. She didn’t give us fresh robes (which were kind of disgusting anyway) and she did not replace our breakfast order card. Again the attention to detail is what this hotel is most lacking in. Checkout – went smoothly Bottom line – I would rate this hotel as average. There was nothing that I would be “up in arms” about but also nothing that exceeded my expectations. If I stay here again I will prearrange my own transportation and will eat else ware.
The weekend of my wedding was truly the most beautiful and happy weekend of my life. I enjoyed every part of it from start to finish; whether I was laughing, crying, dancing, or eating. Every part of it was perfect. When I had first started planning my wedding, I had considered the idea of a wedding planner but then dismissed it because I had heard so many crazy stories about how much they cost! And I was already spending enough money and couldn’t afford to add many more expenses. Then, when we were about 5 months away from my wedding day, my curiosity was peaked again. I had already done most of the planning and felt very secure in all of my choices. But I had one major concern. Who was going to make sure that I wasn’t the director on the day of my wedding? Who was going to know what needed to be where and who needed to be where at a certain time? Who was going to make sure that the decorator set everything up the way that I had planned? My fiancé looked at me and said “Well isn’t that what you have a bridal party for?” And I said “No!” I didn’t want my bridesmaids to be running around franticly trying to make sure that everything was ok. I wanted them to be there with us, enjoying all of the wonderful moments. Everyone is so busy these days and I wanted my friends and family to have a weekend to enjoy. Wasn’t that the point of all the planning, for people to enjoy everything with you? So I did some online searching and came across Sonal Shah. She had different packages available online and I thought, wow, this could work! That was the best decision I ever made and I now tell every bride I meet to make sure she gets herself a Sonal! Sonal and her staff were incredible. Even with all the planning I’d already done, they dug in even deeper to find the little things that I hadn’t thought about. They spent over six hours with me creating my in depth itinerary that detailed every little moment that you could think of. And it was tedious but worth every second because when it came to the day of, I was able to relax because Sonal knew how I had envisioned things from beginning to end because she had taken that time to sit with me and figure out what was inside of my head. So on the day of my wedding, I didn’t have to think. Not even for a moment… Sonal and her team had everything under control. And I was able to enjoy every second of our wedding weekend. I can’t thank Sonal and her team enough for all their attentiveness and care to all that I had asked and more. I know for a fact that it would not have been so smooth without them. I truly feel that our wedding went off flawlessly and all of our guests truly agreed as well. I can’t tell you how many calls I got saying how well put together the wedding was. Guests appreciate that. It’s not just your wedding but a night off for your guests. They get all dressed up and they spend money to come share the time with you so it’s nice if they enjoy themselves fully too! I highly recommend Sonal Shah for whatever it is you need, whether it’s a wedding or a party. She does a beautiful job and is more than worth her cost! In essence, the services she provides are truly priceless. With warmest regards, Natalie Singh

Dear Sonal, We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to you and your staff for your generosity and hard work of all those involved in helping make all events of Mansi-Jeremy’s wedding on 14th May 2011 very special and unique. It is already 14 days passed after Mansi-Jeremy’s wedding. Still we are getting a lot of phone calls, e-mails and personal talks giving us the best possible compliments for each event of their wedding. People say the wedding of Mansi and Jeremy was outstanding, memorable, and full of fun. The wedding guests are left buzzing with delight. This wedding reminded many of some Hollywood and Bollywood wedding films. Likening the wedding extravaganza to a movie production, this was a perfect event. Great and unique gathering of family and friends from around the planet, bonding with new relatives, the timing, decorations, photographers, DJ, choreography, dances, cuisines, drinks, entertainments, gesture for donation, every piece of wedding rituals all reflected the couple's unique preferences and better tastes . This reflected the best from the east and the west. Our Hats off to you for all the hard work, creativity and the attentions to details with out showing slightest stress. Mansi is extra-special for being the only grand- daughter to my parents with ten grand-sons. So she is truly a princess. This was truly a royal wedding. So the name of the wedding venue being “The Palace” was more than symbolic co-incidence. You and your team certainly made everything easy for us. Everything ran smoothly from the moment we contacted you and throughout all of our functions. It was a pleasure to work with your staff. They definitely go the extra mile. We thank you and your staff for making all events perfect. Your attention to detail, willingness to work within our budget and overall positive, "can-do" attitude made our dream wedding come true. Many of our friends and relatives have asked us about the name and contact information about many of the vendors we used like for catering, decoration, makeup artists, DJ, photographer etc. We will be honored if we can do anything for your business in general and for you in particular. With love, Dharmi & Jayesh

Dear Sonal and the Save the Date staff: From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you for making our wedding unforgettable. Although a couples wedding day is always special, we were able to thoroughly enjoy every aspect of our wedding because we knew you and your staff were managing every detail. Once you understood our vision, you took over from there and created the most stunning décor for the garba, wedding and reception. During the almost two year planning process, you were always patient and diligent, constantly coming up with creative ideas or solutions to the tough problems. I don’t think anyone else could manage having an elephant roaming Pennsylvania Avenue! You really took the time to get to know us as a couple and became our friend, which made it easier for us to place the biggest day of our lives in your hands. Our families (especially the mothers) didn’t have to worry about a thing; they were able to enjoy the wedding as one of the guests! Our friends and families were absolutely amazed at how organized the entire event was – not your typically IST. Your staff was absolutely wonderful, and they made us feel pampered the entire weekend. I think I spoke to Katherine on a daily basis for the past year, and I thank her for her hard work and support! Jessica was amazing at keeping me calm and on schedule the day of the wedding. We are not sure what Manan would have worn to the reception if she had not gone back to get his missing suit! Ellen and Neeti always made sure we had a full plate of food and anything else we needed. It was such a pleasure meeting Jay; he was always very helpful and sweet. Next time we are in NY, or you are in DC, we will definitely get together! We are not sure whether this short note can do justice to all the hard work and dedication you and your staff put into our event. Every time we look back at our wedding, we will always think of you. Sincerely, Swati and Manan
Dear Sonal, I am really sorry for not responding earlier. It was a little too hectic after the wedding and all I wanted to do was not think about anything at that time. I am all relaxed now after much needed vacation. I hope you all are doing well. I wanted to Thank You and your team for doing a wonderful job with Anu's wedding. In the beginning when Anu first told us she wanted to get married, I was out of my mind. I didn't know where to start. Luckily Menka found you and we decided to meet you. After meeting you Anu was sure she was going to hire you. It really relaxed me a little after talking to you because I knew you would do a good job. You did take care of everything from the start. Every little detail was taken of and I was glad Sonal was there to look over everything. We also visited some vendors together and I was shocked how detail oriented she was in asking all the questions. I certainly wouldn't have thought of half of those minuet details. Sonal's work was very organized and detailed. Before the wedding we went over the whole timeline. She made sure we understood every minute of the timeline. She was always ready to talk to us whenever we called, even if she was out of town. All the vendors she works with were great. They know exactly what Sonal wants and they deliver. =0 A We all felt like there was nothing for us to do before the wedding. Some family members also commented and told us that we were very relaxed and it didn't seem like there was going to be a wedding in the family, specially a daughter's wedding. Everybody really enjoyed the wedding, they loved the food and they all said this was the first wedding ceremony they enjoyed after a long time. I want to thank you again for doing a great job for making Anu's wedding a memorable event. I hope you continue doing what you are good at and wish you all the best. Take care. Love Kalpna
Great location and poor service First of all, hotel manager provided me with the room located at the second floor with windows directed to the street, while at least two other rooms with different location were free. This manager was aware that road works had been scheduled at the same night, and he was definitely aware that my room #201, was the closest to the noise. I mean, road works were side by side with my windows, so I have been listening the pick hammers and asphalt-placing machine the half night as I was standing right in front of them. Both hotel managers (the guy who worked until midnight and the next one after him) declined my requests to give me another room saying that although two more rooms were indeed empty, they were reserved, and cleaning service was not available after the business hours. So what was the sense to give me the worst room during my check-in, while other rooms were still available at that time? Next day I had a terrible headache and I've got a cold, because hotel did not started heating and outside night's temperature was about 40 (+4-7 Celsius). The reason why my room was so noisy and so cold - the window near my bed had a removable air conditioner and no curtains at all. So every sound from the street as well as cold air freely getting in. I tried to remove it, and asked hotel manager to remove it - no way. "Free Wi-Fi" in the hotel was also as great as overall service, and died every 30 sec, so I used Cosy's free Wi-Fi to check my e-mails instead.
Dear Sonal: It was truly a delight to work with you and your entire team for nearly a year to plan the minutest details of our wedding weekend bonanza! You helped us work with the numerous vendors, pushed us for decisions when needed, and provided ideas, organization and structure during the entire process, Yet, you were more like a friend when we could call you at any time and talk through various issues. Sheetal and Meera were amazingly sweet, helpful and always ready with a smile. The team was great at translating our grand visions into a fantastic reality, and you delivered exactly what we needed in making our event a superb success. The wedding planning process was so much more fun because of you guys and we have some amazing memories. The best of all was how everything came together during the entire wedding weekend. You guys took charge when things went wrong (as they inevitably do at some point). Our guests were very impressed at how the entire weekend was on schedule and planned to the "T", and many of them said that it was one of the best weddings they had attended. Everyone was relaxed, taken care of and had a blast at all the events. Our wedding was simply a fairy-tale for us! We greatly appreciate all your help and thank you from the bottom of our hearts! If anybody out there is looking for elegant, top notch, detail-orientated and professional wedding coordinators, your search is over at SJS Events. Lots of love. Praju and Vatsal
My fiancé and I wanted to visit the city for a quick break during her time off – early Spring Break as she calls it. Both of us don’t really have a lot of loose change at this moment so we researched this place, foremost for price, but also because we wanted to cram as much as possible into our three day trip – price and location were the game changers. This hotel really stood out for us because it was right opposite MSG so we could use the subway to get down to Chinatown and up to the MET, which was a big plus. When we got there, the hotel met expectations. Lobby was shiny clean and the staff were helpful whenever we saw them. Our room was reasonably spacey. The bed was a double and it was comfy enough and we didn’t have any problems getting any sleep. Plus, we weren’t too cramped when it came time to pack all the clothes we bought back into our bags before our flight home. I guess I’m such a big advocate of this hotel because of how comfortable it makes me when visiting such a big city and how easy it makes it to have everything at my fingertips. I would say the room was adequate enough for a three to four day stay and just the ability to do everything in such a short amount of time really helps boost the happy factor. I would recommend this hotel for people looking for something simple and those whose time is valuable and don’t want to have to commute or rent a car or anything.
