Need eye checkup??? You better visit this place because they have some of the most skilled eye specialists in town.
I had my Epi-LASEK surgery the Wednesday before Memorial Day (5/20/09) so I could heal during the long weekend, and be back at work that Tuesday. It was done at Park Avenue Laser Vision (www.parkavenuelaser.com) to correct my Rx of OS -3.25 and OD -3.75. I posted a YouTube video (username: "herbrock17") The POV shown was not the DVD Dr. Chynn provides you of your surgery from the camera attached to the laser. My DVD was accidentally ejected by one of the receptionists...I'm actually glad my wife was with me in the O.R. recording everything with our camcorder...from being prepped for surgery, everything in between, to the end. I like this better actually!! How did I come to choose having my surgery at Park Avenue Laser Vision, you ask?? I did a TON of research prior to selecting Dr Chynn. First was the no cutting, no flap LASEK procedure (different from LASIK). Second was Dr Chynn's credentials (Dartmouth, Columbia, Harvard, Emory, NYU...and he's a member of MENSA)!! Third is he has 12,000+ cases under his belt with ZERO LAWSUITS for complications... compare that to a certain other LASIK practice that advertises on NYC radio stations, but who has almost 100 pending lawsuits for flap complications, etc. Fourth, at Park Avenue Laser Vision are DOCTORS who went to medical school who do your eye tests and CustomVue scans versus the TECHNICIANS at other practices who have not gone to medical school. And the list goes on of why me and my friend chose Park Avenue Laser Vision. The only CON ("fair and balanced" review) is the recovery time for LASEK (no flap- your epithelial cells need to regrow) takes about 4 days longer than LASIK (with a flap and where 90% of complications occur). Just imagine if you play contact sports and your flap gets dislodged!?!?! Or if you're at the local bar and [insert your favorite sports team here] wins, and the person next to you cheering in excitement elbows you in the eye!?!? AREN'T YOUR ONLY PAIR OF EYES WORTH IT???? Another CON (again, "fair and balanced"...) is the Post-Op meds cost me about $160 out of pocket, and that's with my firm's Caremark Rx insurance. Myself, had my surgery on a Wednesday before Memorial Day (5/20/09) after work...I went back to work on the following Tuesday. I also was mentally preparing myself for SCRATCHY SAND-LIKE PAIN for a few days after surgery, and had NONE OF THAT!! The worst of it was 1-2 days of the feeling of a folded contact lens underneath my eyelid. Feel free to email or contact me if any additional questions. Peace all!!
I found Mr. Chynn through a very precise process of looking for the right eye doctor and surgeon who performs extreme cases that no other surgeon in US can do. it's not fair someone to criticize dr Chynn for being hard on his staff, as he's just enduring they make zero mistakes so all patients have the perfect outcomes they deserve that he is always striving for I flew all the way to nyc to have dr Chynn fix my eyes because no doctor in my country Albania nor the neighboring countries of Hungary or Romania had any experience fixing someone like me with extreme hyperopia and extreme astigmatism I also consulted by email with doctors in Germany and France and they also said I was past parameters for lasik I found dr Chynn because he is the most famous LASEK surgeon in the world. He told me by email he's fixed hundreds of cases like mine. His fellow doctor working for him confirmed this when I called that a case like mine would be even "routine" at Park Avenue LASEK, and that she, too, doubted such extreme prescriptions could be corrected when she started there (having run the largest lasik center in kiev for 6 years beforehand), but now she, too, thinks of cases like mine as "no big deal" in dr Chynn's hands! So I flew over, had my preop, confirmed I was a good candidate, had my LASEK, and stayed for a week to have my 1-week postop, by which time I was already seeing BETTER THAN I EVER DID IN GLASSES AND CONTACTS Dr Chynn has graduated from the most famous schools in the world, and at the top of his class at these schools. So of course he has high standards for his employees. I'm glad he does. That's how he was able to give me this miracle If you want a "nice" doctor who is an average surgeon who went to average schools and can treat average cares, go to your local doctor. If nobody locally can help you, and you want the best in the world, go to dr Chynn. He is performing miracles every day. When I met Dr, Chynn for my surgery appointment, Dr. Chynn was very methodical and professional which characteristics are the correct personality characteristics someone should seek in a surgeon.
It has been 4 years almost since I had my LASEK surgery, performed by Dr. Chynn. What can I say ? -DREAMS COME TRUE IF YOU BELIVE AND MEET RIGHT PEOPLE. Doctor Chynn literally changed the way I think of this world, my attitude towards medicine and brought light to my life. I started loosing my vision at the age of 5, drastically dropping down each year , I went through years of hospitals and cruelty from kids who were making fun of me wearing super thick glasses. As you know you can not get contact lenses when you are a child. I had two surgeries when was 12, and two more at the age of 16. No results of improving of eye sight were witnessing. I lost my hope and finally when got courage to check how bad it was I was informed my doctor that I was -15 (astigmatism , myopia and loose eye). I spent days crying: all that I could think of was just being blind and not making this life at all. A CHANGING LIFE EXPERIENCE ! after bumping into "weird" doctors in Manhattan, NYC who were absolutely positive that my eyes could not be ideal ever and were offering to install eye - implants and then correct with laser , I was looking at spending 10k and there was no 100% guarantee of success . Really ??? Fortunately enough, I was denied by bank to get a loan and absolutely accidentally coming after work saw a sign Park Avenue LASEK. I gave it a try. Vu A La.. I am 20/20 NOW... what is this: miracle? some kinda of God's help or just simply high level of professionalism. Who are you , Dr. Chynn? It might sound too spiritually .. but anyone who feels the pain I went through will understand me. You are in my prayers every time I express my gratitude. I wish New York was carrying more professionals like you. 23 years I was wearing glasses and contacts, In ballet school I even could not perform sometimes due to my eye sight. Maybe this is what people call " I saw an angel" I am honored to write this and share my true story with others.
Dr. Chynn is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, and his staff is EXTREMELY attentive and completely focused on the well being of the patient, specifically their vision. Dr. Chynn performed the original LASIK procedure on more than a dozen of my close family and friends more than a decade ago, so I had no hesitation choosing his center, park avenue laser for my vision correction. One can obviously feel very comfortable with an eye surgeon if he's been 100% successful when the surgeon has been performing LASIk for over a decade, and was one of the first to do so. When I went in for my consultation, I was shocked to learn that my vision was actually -11.24, according to the computer scans (which are very accurate). My vision tested at best a 20/40, and I was warned that I might not see 20/20 post op. The staff here conducted several tests to confirm my eye condition and vision. Everything from the pre-op visits to the 2 month post op has been perfect, and I am a very critical person. They always accommodated me, even if I missed or arrived over an hour late for my appointments. Now 2 months post op, I have better than 20/20 vision, all thanks to this team of physicians and staff. I visited several laser correction centers shopping for the best price, and Dr Chynn was certainly the lowest. The most annoying thing is that laser correction centers run their practices only as businesses. They always BS you and try to sell their services to you like they were selling ice to an eskimo. Marketing is TOTAL BULLSHT! Great products sell themselves, but do need some product awareness. Although Park Avenue Laser builds their business on product awareness and referrals, as opposed to BS Marketing. Dr. Chynn does have an MBA from NYU Stern, which is great since most physicians are known to make the worst financial decisions. All in all, Dr Chynn and Park Avenue Laser have provided me with a priceless gift, which I got for a bargain. Thanks!!!!
I found Dr. Chynn through a google search. He seemed to have good credentials and satisfied patient reviews despite some negatives reviews about his manners and conduct of business. The staffs at Park Avenue Lasek are cool and professional. After my first initial visit, I decided to schedule my surgery for their Diamond package which includes a lifetime maintenance check up and whatever corrective procedures needed. A few weeks later after my exam, someone told me that a patient of Dr.Chynn had a horrible experience with a bad result where her vision worsened than before the surgery. Being the educated consumer that I am, I asked Dr. Chynn about this case. He was very professional and HONEST about addressing my concerns. He didn’t try to fluff but told me every clear about all the complications involved with the different vision correction surgeries. My eyes are very important to me, and I am confident that I am in good hands. A lot of the negative reviews online is in regards to Dr.Chynn’s manner or how he treats his fellow MDs and staffs, and the pricing but not about his actual integrity of his work. Here is my take on Laser vision corrective surgery. It is an expensive procedure and it’s a cooperative effort. If you do not have insurance, you should save up for it so you can properly fund it. It is your eyes for heaven’s sake. Why would you want to scrimp on such an important sensory function? Secondly, post Op care is half of the battle. The better you follow the instructions the better results you will have. If you are negligent with this your results will suffer variably. My surgery date is August 24th. I will keep you all updated!
Most opticians are about the same - they want your money and they don't care about you because you are just another sucker, er, customer. I am pleased to say that I have finally found a notable exception - Clairmont Nichols Opticians. I recently experienced one of the finest buying experiences I ever had at CN Opticians. I needed to buy a strong magnifying glass for my almost 90 year old mother. I could not find any other optician who carried magnifiers or who knew much about them. I looked up magnifying glasses in the phone book and saw CN's listing and gave them a call. The salesman I spoke to was very polite and understanding and invited me to come the next day to sit down and compare the different models they had. The nexr day I came and met a wonderful salesman named George who took the time to explain the facts I needed to know. Then I brought in my mother who was waiting in the car and he allowed her to compare many different magnifiers. She selected the one she wanted and I paid for it. The thing we never felt pushed or neglected. No hard sell or soft sell, just the time and facts we needed to get the right magnifier. Now George did not know what I was going to buy, in other words, how much I was going to spend; I could have cheaped out or even walked out. But I did not. Of course, the one I bought was not cheap, but it was the right one and left the store fully satisfied. I only wish every store could be like Clairmont Nichols. In the perfect world, they would be. But at least I had the satisfaction of finally coming across one of the best! Very highly recommended.
I have begun my journey to LASEK and I am extremely excited about it. After a number of recommendations and witnessing a few success stories first hand, I have decided to put my eyes in the hands of Park Avenue Lasek. Aside from just being the same practice that a number of my colleagues have attended, they are the only practice in NYC that does the LASEK surgery without any cutting! This is what makes LASEK different from LASIK. This SafeSight non-invasive approach is 10 times safer and knowing the technology is out there and available, why would you choose anything different, right? After my colleagues success story I immediately scheduled my consultation, luckily its free. The Doctor answered all of my questions and concerns with ease. The quality of this procedure is different than any other in New York City. I was even able to witness a LASEK procedure when I was in the office. It was so quick and to see the patient walk out with a big smile on their face convinced me it was time to make the commitment! One large hesitation I had before committing to the procedure were the financials of the procedure. Park Ave Lasek had an agreement with my company, as they do with a larger number of NYC businesses., to save me a good chunk of money. Also they offer a number of different ways to make this affordable for a variety of budgets. In my opinion this is a great value for the quality and attention you and your eyes receive at Park Avenue Lasek! Contact info. Park Avenue Lasek www.parkavenuelasek.com 212.741.8628
My experience with Park Avenue Lasek (www.parkavenuelasek.com/ 212.741.8628) has been amazing. Like everyone who has worn glasses and or contacts, eventually it gets to be a bother and expensive. When I had my first appointment at Park Avenue Lasek, it was definitely unique. When I walked in to the office the operating room is located in the front of the office in clear sight of everyone including people walking by in the street. This is very different from any doctor’s office I have ever been in. The front desk staff was very friendly and while I was waiting to be seen I was actually given the opportunity first hand to watch a procedure done by Dr. Chynn. While Dr. Chynn was operating on a patient Dr. Almeida was on hand to explain each step of the procedure. After the procedure was completed, which took less than 10 minutes, Not only was I sold on the procedure but I wanted to get the procedure done right away. My biggest fear of Lasik surgery is that I did not want anyone to cut into my eyes. But, Dr. Chynn’s superior operation is called SafeSight and it is the non cutting, no flap, and safer alternative. Best of all it was non- invasive. When it comes to any surgery everyone will always shop around for the best price but with the excellent customer service, the thoroughness of the doctors, and the gifted hands of Dr. Chynn, Park Avenue Lasek is the best value for my money.
I am very excited to be having my LASEK procedure done by Dr. Emil Chynn from Park Avenue SafeSight. From the moment I stepped into Park Avenue on 25th St and Park Avenue South for my consultation, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The doctors spent time examining my eyes and answered all my questions. They discussed everything from the anatomy of the eye to the LASEK procedure, which is non-cutting and safe. They also explained how my eyes would be overcorrected to adjust for future changes in my vision; I found this to be really helpful and unique because Park Avenue is the only center who plans ahead for the patient's best interest. The doctors were extremely detailed in checking my eyes and seeing if I was a good candidate for the procedure. I was always unsure of my candidacy because of my extremely high astigmatism (-3/-2) but after my consultation, I found out that I'm eligible for LASEK which was so reassuring. I feel that Dr. Chynn and his team have my best interest at heart from correcting my vision down to discussing the pricing plans. I highly recommend that you give Park Avenue SafeSight a call if you're interested in getting lasered! (212) 741-8628. After years of wearing contacts, I am ready to be able to just open my eyes and see the world again. I am confident in the abilities of the Park Avenue LASEK team to correct my vision.
