A great place for those who want to enjoy a delicious food. It is not cheap, but the food and service you receive are top-notch. Sake "Born" is my favorite ;) Bar sits are the best: you get your order slightly faster, you see a chef preparing your dishes, and, if there are many dishes you have never eaten before, you can observe people around you and order something you spotted on your neighbor's plate ;). If you feel tired and want to freshen-up, just ask a chef to prepare a refreshing dish for you... It is that simple. If you do not clearly remember the proper chopsticks etiquette, make sure you google it before visiting the restaurant. (Just imagine yourself going to Arpège and not knowing which one of the three forks to choose to eat your favorite Savarins).P.S.: IMPORTANT! This is one of only two Sushi restaurants in NYC where I eat raw fish without worrying about catching parasites or having an upset stomach.
Lets just say you probably won't find us back here anytime soon. I'm being generous when I say the service was mediocre. Ok I can understand that with a party of 10 we can expect to wait longer, but when your server repeatedly walks away from you while you're still asking questions about the menu than you know you have a problem. There's also a lot of commotion here so I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for a romantic date setting. The food was just ok too. The only roll I was really impressed by was the Sweet Heart Roll, how fitting for me! It had salmon and spicy tuna inside! It would have been even more divine with some crunch on top for texture. No matter what Japanese restaurant you go to though, you can never go wrong with the green tea ice cream for dessert, which is where this place gets their second star from! Mmm mm good!
i'll start by saying i adore a spot on long island i've been going to for years and compare all other japanese restaurants to it (kotobuki in hauppauge for anyone wondering). ichiro is fine. the restaurant was bustling. you're greeted immediately with hot towels and water with lemon. the food is ok. i ordered the hibachi shrimp bento and for an extremely reasonable price ($19 i think) you get soup salad and bento. it was meh. i'd rather see some veg tempura over a bunch of edamame, but that WAS healthier and it's usually a crowed pleaser. i'm not interested in anything pickled and there was a few small pieces of pickled veg i gave to my friend. they had a "pending grade" which for sushi makes you wonder, but didn't discourage us because it's very popular in that area. i'll go back to try some rolls for sure. maybe i'll enjoy that more.
Celebrated my daughter’s birthday at Talia’s Steakhouse last night. We live in Central Jersey so we don’t travel too often for kosher restaurants in Manhattan. Our expectations were set high for a night in the city. Suffice to say, Talia’s exceeded our expectations. There was live music and we got to sit in their sidewalk café and enjoy the beautiful weather. We all shared the Fry Trio basket to start, which was a great choice. My prime rib was excellent. My wife and daughter loved their Veal Scaloppini. Our 6 year old couldn’t get enough of his chicken fingers. For dessert, the wait staff brought out warm chocolate soufflé with a birthday candle and sang Happy Birthday with help from the live musician. It was a perfect way to end the night. Would definitely be back again.
We went to Babylon last night the waitresses are not welcoming and make you feel very uncomfortable! But it gets better we order appetizer, drinks and food with absolutely no recommendations or help from the waitress. She only gave us attitue like we were annoying here for asking recommend or suggestions. Afterwards my friend ask for water and the waitress tells him with attitude that they don't give water after 10 pm????? You have to buy bottle of water!!! We dont mind paying good enough money the food and hookah was great however will never return because the service is horrible. Don't recommend Babylon for anyone since they are much better restaurants with great great food, hookah and most important customer service.
The other day the weather was finally beautiful, and my friend and I were walking past Talia’s outdoor café, so we decided to have an early dinner. We had an extremely pleasant experience. It was not too crowded yet, but there was a mixed young crowd, couples and some business men, and everybody seemed to be having a good time. The service was extremely good, and our waitress took our order the minute we finished looking over our menus and brought our drinks right away. The food was served nice and hot, and we were so full after we finished that we almost didn’t have room for desert, but we couldn’t refuse a chocolate soufflé! I felt very satisfied with my experience at Talia’s and will definitely be back many more times!
After a long day of shopping with a fussy six year old and an even fussier four year old, I knew if I didn’t get food in them soon, I was gonna be in a giant headache of trouble. Talia’s was the closest kosher restaurant, so I decided it was a good time to check it out. Of course, when we got there, my kids wanted nothing but hot dogs. This made me nervous as I was looking over the menu and saw no option for hot dogs. Luckily, the waitress let me know that there would be no problem getting hot dogs for my kids. She brought them out almost immediately, and I thanked her for being a lifesaver. The burger I ordered was very tasty, as well.
I love Talia's for their weekly Friday night Shabbat dinners. So great to have a kosher restaurant in Manhattan to go to when you're in a squeeze for a Shabbat meal when most kosher restaurants are closed. For someone like me with more of an Eastern European background, they sure have a unique menu with strange sounding dishes such as moussaka and sambousak, but they are absolutely delicious. Plenty of food for a reasonable price. And they've got holiday meals, too! Even thinking about taking some friends for one of the Passover Seders this year. I'm sure it will be nothing but superb.

This place is awesome! I had my Bachelorette party there last night (Sat.) and it was a blast! We danced till we dropped and heard all of our favorite 80's and 90's songs. Don't believe the people who didn't like it there...they are just cranky haters. Yes, you pay $10 for liquor and $5 for beer, but that is actually cheap for NYC. My friends and I are making plans to go back there soon. One tip...if you go there before 10:30 it is dead there and after 11:30, its packed full. Your best bet is to go between 10:30 and 11:30 if you actually want to have a spot to dance.
