THESE ARE SOME STUDENT REVIEWS:Last night, I had a great time. Zenobia is a gracious and consummate professional, who guides and helps her students navigate through the lesson. I felt so comfortable. And the other students there are also great people. I am going back next Thursday, and every Thursday, as long as Zenobia is teaching. I am telling everyone on Facebook to check her out. Really horrible experience that I will never forget. He spends most of the class talking about conspiracy theories rather than acting, and every few classes he will have an open house class to recruit new actors and while the rest of us have paid to be there, the new people come in and see him act completely different and spend time working with them. I did absolutely nothing during my course here and my money was wasted. During one class all we did was play some stupid game you would play at camp which he described as "important" but I started to realize what a farce this whole thing was and how most of us in the class started to feel we were being taken advantage of. Also, his personality is very unstable, he projected a dark persona and it was disturbing and manipulative. When I told him one time after class that he spent an hour and 45 minutes talking about conspiracy theories instead of teaching us, he threw it back on me and blamed me for not bringing it up during class and telling him then so that he could get back on track. Something was really not right and I left and lost the money I paid. Then I went to esper studio for two years and got serious professional training without this bull. be careful and stay away.
After studying at another acting school for years I still felt that I had not developed a strong acting technique. I was left with a sense that technique was this elusive and mysterious thing that I couldn't quite grasp. Then I met Charlie and Maggie. They completely demystified the process by showing me the nuts and bolts of creating a character and bringing a script to life. It was no quick fix. There are no shortcuts to being a good actor. Hard work was expected of me and both Maggie and Charlie were upfront about that. I don't recommend this studio to anyone who is unwilling to put their everything into the work. The teachers here will not tolerate anything less. In the end, if you put in the work, the rewards are well worth every ounce of effort.
I was in a rut in my life before joining the studio. Working a full time job that I was not happy with, unable to find anything worth committing myself to. I knew for the longest time that I wanted to be an actor but I had no idea how to even begin the process. After research and recommendations from friends, I landed at Maggie Flanigan Studio. The amount of risk I have made in the past two years is something most don't even get to experience in a lifetime. To know what it is to be vulnerable and connect with human situations is awe-inspiring. The camaraderie and support of classmates and faculty is something I have never experienced before. Charlie and Maggie have instilled in me a work ethic like no other. I do not know what I would have done without this program. This is something no one can ever take away from me.
I had tried a few different schools but barrow acting school resonated with me the most and i decided to join it due to its simplicity and down to earth environment. I had a thoroughly great time with amazing teachers and friendly classmates! Also provides great opportunities to network outside of the class. Totally recommend this school to join!
This school not only helped me take my acting to a whole new level, I felt as if I also matured as a human being. My growth as a person was key in developing my skill as an actor, and my mentors at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting was the right school in doing that. I also could not have improved without the support and encouragement that my fellow peers and I gave each other during our courses.
Love this place! Very happy here and won't move elsewhere. Great teachers, experienced actors, friendly staff. Besides the classes, there's lots going on all-week and all-year round from performances, free readings, charity auctions and all sorts. I've never felt intimidated at The Barrow Group. A bunch of nice people providing a very good service for actors and audience. Thanks guys!!
