Fabulous bakery in a residential area of New Orleans. Parking is horrible, but well worth the hassle. Supplier of French bread to the restaurant. 72 years of knowing what they are doing. The pastries are to die for. A must when in N.O.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS BAKERY. THEY ARRIVED 2 &1/2 HOURS LATE WITH MY WEDDING CAKE & IT WAS A FINE MESS. I PAID FOR A 5 TIER WEDDING CAKE AND GOT 4 FINISH SLIDING TIERS AND 1 UNFINISH TIER THAT WAS LEFT ON A BACK TABLE IN MY HALL. I WAS VERY HURT TO WALK INTO THE HALL, FULL OF GUEST (300 PEOPLE) AT 5PM AND NO CAKE. MY WEDDING PLANNER AND FAMILY MEMBER STARTED CALLING THE BAKERY AT 4:30 AND NO ONE WOULD ANSWER BUT AT 6:15 THEY PULLED UP IN THE PARKING LOT WITH AN UNFINISHED CAKE. SHE WAS STILL PIPPING MY CAKE INSIDE THE HALL AS THE PHOTOGRAPHER WAS TRYING TO TAKE PICTURES AND ON TOP OF THAT IT DID NOT HAVE THE FILLINGS I SELECTED. SHE ONLY WANTEDTO GIVE ME $150.00 (I PAID $500.00) BUT I DECLINED AND TOLD HER THAT I WAS GOING TO TAKE HER TO COURT AND ABOUT 5 DAYS LATER SHE GAVE ME A FULL REFUND. PLEASE DO USE THIS BAKERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will never use this bakery again! I ordered my husband's groom's cake from here. It was supposed to look like a real life deer and the cake was supposed to be red velvet. The deer, if you want to call it that was very cartoonish and looked nothing like a deer. The cake was white with white icing. I contacted the bakery and they said that the cake looked fine with them and that all they could do is refund me $45 for the cake. I payed over $200 for this cake. This wasn't a gathering at my house, this was my wedding!
This place is the worst bakery in the city...they are very rude.I ordered a cake it was not ready on time. Their equipment was not working properly and they would not compensate for the inconvenience... and on top of all the hassle the cake was dry and stale tasting...$189 to waste
I had the pleasure of coming across this gem today and it was such a treat! I had my first taste of Buttermilk Drops (Heavenly!), a honey bun, and a cheeseburger. Everything I had was fresh and delicious! It was clean and cool inside the bakery and the music was relaxing. The service was great! This was a great place to eat and I'll most certainly return!
John Gendusa Bakery bakes absolutely the best tasting bread in New Orleans and has the best texture of any po-boy available.
Very poor customer service. My cake was a mess when we cut into it. It was dry too. I will never waste money buying from them again.
Just wanted to weigh in with total agreement on karliz's rating about the rude staff. I walked out yesterday without buying any of their overpriced sweets because the counter girl couldn't be bothered to wait on me.
food is good but staff are so incredibly rude!!!! There are a lot of other patisseries and bakeries where you can get just as good food without the surly sarcasm and long wait
