Its amazing to read all these reviews and see that I wasnt the only one unsatisfied with my stay at Maurice Guillot properties. He is racist! He tried to bully me and control my living on his property. He told me I couldn't put my thermostat below 70 degrees in my apartment. He told me I couldn't bacl my car up on his property because it was a liability. My family came visit me and their vehicle dropped some water on the cement. We went outside to a letter on my dad's car saying move or it will be towed. Didn't provide a reason until I called the office. They said it had to move off his property because it was leaking oil. Sad part was it was water not all. In another instant I had to get an attorney for him. It's been alot and I'm so happy my lease is over next month. I don't recommend this rental property for anything. I loved where I stayed, the people were nice, but the damn landlord is a mess. He will have you wanting to whip his ass! When it gets like that it's time to go! And guess what IT'S TIME TO GO!! I'M SO HAPPY MY LEASE IS UP! I hope this helps anyone who would even consider this property as their home. I rented from Maurice and his management team and just as the other reviews said, it wasn't a pleasant experience. My rent was always paid on time and sometimes a couple months in advance. However, as a tenant, I could never get anyone to come out to my rental to repair my plumbing, electrical, or basic maintenance and when they did, they would send me a letter stating that I have to pay for the repair. The apartment was in bad shape when I moved in and I maintained it the entire time I lived there to the best of my ability. This property management didn't maintain the outside of the rentals let alone the inside of them. Maurice and his staff aren't friendly and the letters they send their tenants always have a threat in bold letters somewhere within the letters. Maurice also doesn't make it very easy for his tenants to pay their rent. He only accepts money orders or checks and it's best if you drop them off rather than mail them in. There's a good chance that they wouldn't receive them if you were to mail them. We haven't lived in this property for almost a year now, this is my experience with this property management and the people who run it. I still know all my neighbors and some still live there and are on the verge of moving because of all the issues they are having with Maurice.
These people are AWESOME!!!!!They worked with me for quite a long time until they made sure I had exactly the living space I wanted.They are hugely knowledgeable and were very patient with me as we looked at one space after another.Eric Wilkerson is amazing!!!!! He kept checking in with me on a daily basis and made my search for a home in the Quarters easier than I ever thought was possible.This is a REPUTABLE company!!!!!When I am ready to change living spaces I will most certainly contact Mr. Wilkerson again!!!!!
Despicable. I was extremely interested in an apartment. After SEVERAL phone calls and voicemails, Kim Joseph finally answered the phone. I was shown the place, loved it, wanted to sign the next day. I was told I had to make three times the monthly rent, I knew I would be short but making rent would not be a problem, and am still in college so my parents still help me out. I was told in order to put my parents information down, I'd have to pay TWO $20 application fees--one with my information, one with my parents. I explained I was in a dire situation to find an apartment, and wanted to speak to someone before I paid those application fees to see if there was even a chance I'd be approved. The realtor, Kim Joseph, REFUSED to answer my phone calls or give me the number to anyone else to speak to until I submitted the application. I literally begged to speak to ANYONE and she refused, repeatedly texting me "not till you turn in the application." When I said this was extremely discouraging and asked for compassion, she texted "okay thank you" and never responded again. I've called the office, noone every answers. I also left a voicemail saying I had a bad experience and would like to talk to someone. Noone ever returned my calls. There's absolutely no reason for such a complete disregard for a potential paying customer. I can only assume that these people are only interested in squeezing out as much money from you as they can, because there is no other reasonable explanation for such a blatant lack of customer service.
Don't rent from Him! I repeat DO NOT RENT FROM MAURICE GUILLOT! Prior to renting from him I did not read the reviews that were posted about him & I wish that I would have! Several stated in their reviews that he is raciest. Since my recent move into 1 of his properties I have heard that to, but make NO mistake it's not just blacks he mistreats; whites & spanish people too! He doesn't care as long as he makes that all mighty DOLLAR! He as well as he staff will mislead you from the get go! They will lie & then fail to keep up their end of the deal. Trust me as a recent renter from him, they will move you into a home & cut corners any way possible! They'll ask you to send them a list of repairs needed (once you already signed your lease & moved in) & then threaten you with an increase of your rent as your request are unreasonable & considered modifications. I agree with the rest, Maurice Guillot & JOHN (who is a slob & lies) & the rest of his staff are SLUM LORDS!!!! He should get 5 negative stars but the website make you chose at least 1....
Absolutely AWFUL. Absurd. Avoid renting from a property management company; the property management companies in New Orleans are managing many properties, have few repair/maintenance staff members, and simply do not care about the tenant. Superior Property Management is by far and away the WORST. The "realtors" (a more apt title would be, "liars") do nothing but get the lease signed, they do NOT maintain a relationship with the tenant or the landlord and will not advocate on behalf of the tenant under any circumstance. My move-in date was postponed for 3 1/2 weeks for no apparent reason. The unit was vacant for that time and Superior Property Management did NOTHING to clean or repair it. When I finally was allowed to go inside, the realtor, Kim Joseph, was a half hour late arriving with the key, and when she opened the door, the condition of the unit was frightful. Among the problems: the unit was filled with cigarette butts, filth and dead roaches, 4 of the 5 windows had panes of glass fully punched out and the side door was detached. It took 3 more weeks for Superior Property Management to address these issues. In addition to asking Kim Joseph to at minimum, replace the door and fix the windows, I asked her several times what was the square footage so I would know whether to take furniture out of storage and more importantly, who were the tenants on the other side of the double shotgun, i.e. are they smokers? a family? children? pets? Instead of answering these common questions, the answers to which every tenant has a right to know even before signing the lease, she simply ignored me and finally told me, "You signed the lease, I don't have to talk to you anymore." It turns out, my neighbor is an incessant indoor smoker (the smoke comes right through to the other side of the double shotgun) and worse, an unpredictable, insane drunk who is prone to violent outbursts. Since I moved in, I have had to call the police 3 times: once when he was violently and loudly brawling with someone at his house at 3am and I thought he might murder that person; next when he was pounding on my window at 1am on a Monday night, threatening me and shouting obscenities because I had asked him to turn off his music, and finally, when he was banging something into the floor/wall in the middle of the night. He was arrested and he violated his peace bond. Of course, I made Superior Property Management aware of every single thing that happened, including that he leaves the laundry room and the washer and dryer so filthy I must clean them before every use, his house is so dirty mice are running around, and he abuses his dog. Despite him threatening me, being arrested and failing to pay rent timely, and the landlord's request for Superior Property Management to repossess his unit, Superior Property Management did not evict him. Finally, my landlord got wise to the situation and fired the company. Among the many problems I had to fix myself because Superior Property Management NEVER responds to maintenance requests, Superior Property Management failed to come to my house to service the heater for the entire winter. After only 4 hours of use in November, particles were coming out of the vents, covering my furniture, walls and floors and I was inhaling them. It took until March for Superior Property Management to finally reveal the heat company's name and contact information. They were unable to identify the particle but agreed it was likely toxic. Yep, in addition to this madness, I had no heat all winter long. If you read this far or you didn't, the bottom line: RUN! DO NOT RENT FROM SUPERIOR PROPERTY MANAGEMENT. RUN!
Maurice Guillot is one of the shadiest people I have ever met! I was desperate and made the major mistake of renting from this jackass. I promise you will never get back your deposit and will be accused of the very damage (where you will be threatened to pay for it!) that was there when you moved in!!! Sounds like a convenient racket to me, Maurice. I swear to God, there was constant traffic in my apt when I was not there and I know it! Thinks he's got a good racket going, Won't rent to blacks, he's scared of them, knows he can't run his scam on them because they will pop a cap in his head! My advice, VIDEOTAPE when you move in and VIDEOTAPE when you move out and take him to court! He is not the owner of the buildings and I am sure the owners are in on it as well! MAURICE GUILLOT IS A PREDATOR AND WANTS TO RIP YOU OFF! Isn't there some way to stop this type of illegal crap! This guy gets one star because I have to,
They have proven to be very dependable and I appreciate that the most. The tenants and home are well provided for and I like not having to be concerned about any of it. Everything is in good hands!
Owning my rental units has been stress free and easy since Superior Property Management took over. It's been great having the time freed up and the units are all rented with happy tenants.
They are managing my rental property and doing a very good job. Always in contact with any issues and everything is running smooth. I also had their help to purchase my own home a few years ago and that was also a very good experience.
