Took sportcoat in to have the sleeves shortened. 14 days later I picked-up the jacket. First, the lining was excessive and twisted. Second, the decorative buttons were sewn through the lining (not very neatly). Third, the cuff was starched and pressed to mask the POOR lining alteration. I returned sportcoat to store and showed the manager. Manager stated that the excess lining material was necessary and that sewing the decorative buttons through the ling would make it stronger. She offered to fix the button issue but would not fix the lining. I was afraid of her repairing the lining when she believed it was ok. WOW. When the coat is on, the sleeves DO NOT hang properly. Someone take away her thimble and thread.

I've had simple things done here and been pleased, but recently I took a pair of brand-new jeans because (you know what I'm talking about ladies) the jeans fit perfectly everywhere except the waistline which was baggy, where if I sat down they fell open in the back giving a view. I was nervous to turn them over (the staff fit and measure very quickly, wasn't sure if it would be right), but when I got them back, they were absolutely perfect, felt like custom made jeans!!! I will be wearing these jeans until they're worn through. Yes, Thimbelina may be a bit more expensive than others, and yes, they do have weird closed days, and yes, they do have a slow turn-around time and only take cash or check, but if you want something special done right, they are perfect!!

I had a date the following week, and wanted to look superb with a new wardrobe. Had the place recommended to me by a friend. Truthfully, i was very skeptical at first, because its not everyday that you hand over 400 dollar jeans to someone to fix and expect to get them back in the exact way that you have wanted back. (bad experiences with past tailor shops) Fits and retains the exact look that you bought the clothes for, right ladies? So, when i got them back, I was ecstatic because it was just so perfect. Thank goodness for the gamble. And now I HAVE TO entrust them to fix all my clothes for me.

I have used Thimbelina for years. I have high standards as my Mother is a talented seamstress. I have had designer jeans hemmed without even the slightest problem; I have had designer suits with multiple darts altered there and the results were quality. Most recently I have and ivory satin cocktail dress altered at Thimbelina and i was very pleased.
They do have about a two week wait on service sometimes because they do an awesome job and everyone knows it. trust me, they're good.

I recently moved to New Orleans. I needed to have a dress taken in for a wedding and being new to the city, I had driven past Thimbelena and decided to go in. After telling them I could not wait two full weeks for one simple thing, I left with my receipt in hand. Where I grew up (Philadelphia), as well as where I moved from (San Diego), tailor shops are open 6 days a week (at least 5). I went to pick the dress up the day it was ready, thursday, and they were closed. Unusual, yes. I later found out they are only open 4 days a week. Besides being extremely rude and unprofessional, it was the most expensive alteration I have ever had done. Will never waste time going back.

I just wanted my jeans hemmed and thought that was a pretty simple job. They didn't have them ready for me on time and when I got them back they were done awfully--just short of ruining my jeans. I will NEVER go back there and would definitely not reccommend it to anyone.
