Horrible Service on my first time here

We went on a Sunday of July 8, 2012 during Essence Festival. It wasn't busy at the time we enter. Only one table was being used. We were seated by the option of two tables by the window. We were not asked if we prefer to sit up stairs of the balcony but later I can hear others being asked as they came in. Food was nicely decorated on the plate and tasted pretty good. I wasn't offer A-1 steak sauce so I waited about 20 mins which by that time my food was cold. We didn't get refills on our drinks. When the waitress decided to come back she brought our bill. We were shocked and upset at the same time. We talk to the manager and all he could offer us was dessert when I barely touched my food smh. She never came back to take our bill so we gave it to another waitress that was kind enough to look our way. No matter how good the food was we won't be back. Horrible Service!!!!



Thought it would be better

We wandered down Bourbon St. And decided on this place because of the barker out front- he made it seem like a nice restaurant. We were seated upstairs on the balcony. It took way too long to receive our food even though sewers party of 7. We were given the explanation that the tables on the bottom floor wereall filled (which they weren't when we went in), as if that should've mattered.

The food wasn't special. We didn't have the problems of the previous reviewers- we didn't send anything back. But, the alligator po-boy I got didn't taste much like alligator. Exercise caution in choosing this place.

Incredibly rude Manager!

Our waiter was nice enough, just not very attentive. He didn't come by to check on our food or to refill our drinks.

The Red Beans and Rice were okay, though the sausage serving size was quite small.

My friend's order of steak was extremely rare and cold. She couldn't eat it, and I tried a bite and had to agree with her despite the fact I generally prefer my steak to be on the rarer side. Our waiter never came by to check on us, so she had to track down the manager.

The manager came by the table to talk to my friend who calmly explained that the steak was rarer than she had expected. He very rudely told her it wasn't rare, that the sauce just made it look very red. Before my friend had a chance to ask if he could put it back on the grill, he interrupted her and as rudely as you could imagine snapped at her, ""M'am' I'm not going to argue with you, this is not rare, can I get you something else."" We were all taken aback by this response by the MANAGER! At this point we just decided to leave. I had already eaten so I paid my bill and we got out of there.

Don't waste your time

We visited The Embers this weekend and I don't even know where to begin. I had eaten there years ago and it was quite good so my boyfriend and I decided to have our Saturday evening dinner there. The service was poor, we had to seat ourselves and get our own menus and it only got worse. After about the third bite of our steak I couldn't stomach another bite. I have never returned a meal but it was so full of fat and extremely rare (still cold) although I ordered medium rare. I could of dealt with the cold but not the fat. The salad was a small amount of iceberg and one small slice of tomato and our ""loaded"" baked potato was far from that. It was dry and lacking. It took about 15 minutes for our server to muster up enough energy to check on us. We returned the food and requested our bill and no offer of a discount was given. I found the manager and have never been so offended or humiliated in my entire life. I was told that she could tell when we ordered that we were going to ask for a discount and continued to offend us for several minutes before we could pay our bill and get out of there. I didn't think that it could be possible for the rantings of a crazy manager to put a damper on our New Orleans vacation but she succeeded.
