I feel so sad for tourists who eat here because it sort of looks like a classic New Orleans restaurant. It does well off the fact that it looks like the kind of place you'd stroll in to when your exhausted and just want to sit down and have a nice meal. But it's really, really terrible. The food is improperly prepared, the silverware and plates are filthy, the service is awful. There are SO MANY option in the French Quarter. For a comparably priced meal other better options are Gumbo Shop, Remoulade, Acme Oyster House, etc...
Stay away from this crap-hole. We made the mistake of going in once when we were exhausted from spending the day walking many miles in the heat and now whenever we pass by we steer people away who look like they're about to go in. And from other reviews I see that our experience wasn't isolated.
It actually upsets me that someone would own a restaurant in a nice space in this wonderful location and hold so little regard for the quality of the food or the dining experience. They should be ashamed.

well dont ever get a job with the owner trish thats a start or married for that matter she will work you like a slave or if your married to her she will take your life or should i say your money dry form you..........i feel sorry for a person like trish that would report to the irs that she gave a employee 68 thousand dollars on the side it was hard enough to just get the check after 4 pm from her....well i hope that she will enjoy her stay in jail after the irs will put her in jail for tax fraud.........for all the people that have enjoyed her food im sorry cuz if you really enjoyed it you never really ate good food.

We had the opportunity to visit New Orleans this past Memorial Day and have lunch at this eatery. It took approximately 10-15 minutes to get seated. They appeared to be short staffed. Our waitress was prompt and the service was good. Being from Pennsylvania this was my first opportunity to eat true creole/cajun food. Food was very good. The most memorable part of the day was getting the opportunity to speak to the manager who took the time to share his experience of hurricane Katrina and the aftermath. I will definitely go back to this restaurant of I am ever back in New Orleans.

New Orleans is such a great foodie town that nobody should make the mistake we did by eating at this awful spot. The wait was about 15 minutes for no other obvious reason than the surly disorganized hostess.
We should have walked out when another couple left announcing they had not been served since arriving.
We should have also walked out when the guy at the next table couldn't order an egg white omelet because the chef ""doesn't do that.""
Unfortunately we stayed. My wife was charged $4 for substituting potatoes for grits. Her omelet was mediocre and my crawfish etoufee/shrimp creole combo was just bad. Very little seafood and terribly bland sauces.
The service was as bad as everyone else said, but the three-star average doesn't do justice to the terrible experience.

We were so excited to go to this restaurant; the menu looked fabulous. But we were made to wait for 20 minutes for a table. Which was honestly fine; we saw that they were understaffed, so we waited patiently. But the manager on the floor was so rude about it. He continued to tell us snappishly that we'd have to wait, even after we agreed to that.
Finally we were sat and the server took another 20 minutes to greet us. She was terrible, but you could tell she was new, so we let that go.
It was the food that was the most terrible. My Big Cajun omelet was horrible. Slightly warmed on the outside, rubbery on the inside and very cold. Even the toast was rubbery. And to top it all off, it was tremendously overpriced.
There are 100's of places to go for amazing breakfasts in New Orleans. Even going to Cafe du Monde for beignets and au laits with all the lines is so much better then what we shelled out for. Do NOT go to this restaurant.

I can't be any happier about getting to write the first review for this place. It sucked from the moment we walked in the front door. The manager was an awful tyrant. She scolded the waitstaff in front of 40 customers. The place was completely understaffed. The food was beyond awful. They burned everything. My girlfriend ordered a veggie omelette. It was burned (charred, really) on the outside and soggy on the inside. My omelette was barely any better. The service was slow and really, really stupid. Did I mention this place was terrible? The poor people at the table next to us waited even longer than we did, and had to send back two coffee mugs that were still dirty. The decor was all kinds of tacky, too.
Honestly, they couldn't even get our toast right. It's a great place to eat if you like everything burned, yet cold and bland. We're not restaurant snobs, I swear. This was the absolute worst meal we had in New Orleans -- every other place we went was tremendous. If you want breakfast, go to the CoffeePot Restaurant instead. We just ate there this morning (back in Denver tonight, I'm afraid). It was excellent and cheap.
As I waited outside for my girlfriend, four people walked up to the front door. Just as I was about to tell them not to go in, one of them said, ""let's go in this place, I've eaten here before. It's pretty good."" That's the ONLY thing stopping me from giving this joint a 0.0. It's theoretically possible that we caught this place at the wrong time, but there was so much BAD about it. Bad management, waitstaff, food...everything. So I'm being really generous and giving it a 0.2 out of 10. Do your sanity and your digestional system a favor and stay away.

This restaurant was one of the busier in this area of the French Quarter, which is one reason we decided to try it. Also moderately priced for this type of restaurant. However, our waiter had too many tables to handle. Wine glasses had wash water still remaining and smelled of sanitizer. Bread was dry and old. Had to ask several times for napkins. Floor was greasy. Service was very slow. Food looked as if it sat under heat lamp too long. I've had better creole type food outside of New Orleans. Our waiter disappeared for half an hour. We finally cleared our own table. Good view of people walking by.

We were looking for someplace with some typical cajun/creole dishes at good prices and stopped here. It wasn't very crowded on a weekend night. Our server was fine and the room was nice (except for the plastic tablecloths) but the food was mediocre at best. My husband had the French toast for lack of seeing anything else he wanted and said it was adequate but nothing like that at Petunia's. I had these fried pies filled with crawfish covered with crawfish etoufee which is one of the house specialties. It wasn't bad, but as stated before, it was nothing special. The table next to us said their steak was dry. This place is ok if you have no where else to go, but definitely not worth a special trip.
