I have been coming to Felix Restaurant for years. Best oysters in the world. And I brag about them to everyone. Well not anymore. Came to New Orleans on Friday brought friends. I was treated so Badly I will Never Go there again. I sat at the counter asked for a dozen oysters and made the comment that I would love to get some of their big oysters. The man behind the counter told me if I wanted to get big oysters I better leave a big tip and it was how he said it to me really mean. The lady I brought with me even said something to me on how he treated me. I asked for a coke for a drink never got it for me but still charged me for it. I will Never go there again.

Good food overall

I ate here while visiting the 2014 Essence Music Festival. Since I have an allergy to wheat, I am limited on the selection of food in the area. I ordered the grilled shrimp, sautéed mixed veggies, and French fries. Delicious! I actually ate here twice and ordered the same thing the second time! I can honestly say that both times I was there, the customer service was lacking. However, they were super busy both times. Bottom line, good food and I would eat there again.

An acceptable alternative if necessary

I didn't have the trouble others had with the servers being rude. It did take awhile to get served, but the staff was kind enough, particularly the oyster shucker when we first walked in. The food wasn't exceptional, but we liked it well enough.

Worst Food Ever

Not sure how they stay in business! Both mine and my wife's dishes were bad. Blackend Shrimp was so salty and greasy my wife had to wipe food using napkins. My etouffee was so waterly and had to look for my crawfish and rice very hard. I thought NOLA was known for food and this was a real disappointment!

Worst food in New Orleans

November 2009

Hey Everybody,
Worst food in New Orleans.....stay away and save your money!
Gumbo and oyster po-boys....think that would be OK?
Seems as if the garbage cans were scrapped for our food!
Go anywhere else.....

Worst. food. ever.

I went here because Acme had a long line and it was raining, and I was hungry. My gumbo had tiny black shrimp and my etouffee was only small pieces of meat and a little rice and the rest was drenched in hot sauce. my waitress was not a good one, my table never got refills on anything. I'd rather eat Popeye's than this again.

Pretty lousy

Friendly servers, but that's about it. We went b/c their was a line at Acme, now we know why. Shabby decor, muddy oysters, very bland po boys and etoufee. I think I have had better from fast food joints. ANd not cheap either. Two of us, one dozen oysters and two specials = $40. You can do much better.

Mediocre at best

Good location, hideous decor, even worse service.

The food is okay, but when you have to put up with a bunch of surly, unhappy, rude employees who clearly do not get along with one another, who cares about the food.

The nicest and most helpful person there was a young lady named Jennifer, who is also a school teacher. She was the most accommodating person in that restaurant -- 5 stars for her.

Other than that, the oyster shuckers are rude, the tables stay dirty, and you can never find your waitress. The management staff also lacks any personable skills necessary to run a business.

As for the food, it's okay. We can get Jambalaya and Gumbo anywhere in the Quarter.

The best thing about Felix's -- ACME Oyster House is just across the street!!!

stick to the Raw bar

I usually use Felix as a fall back to Acme when I can't get in. This trip we tried a few things, the raw oysters were sweet, cold, fresh. The chargrilled oysters were not cooked enough, the turtle soup was hardly edible and the gumbo was average at best.

If you go here, stick to the raw bar; beer and oysters are a safe bet.

Out service, during the BCS LSU Ohio state game was fine, not terrific, not terrible.

Horrible Customer Service I Wouldn't Wish on my Worst Enemy

They really went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we had a miserable experience. After waiting 30 minutes on a table, the manager suggests we split our party of 6 between 2 tables. Logically, you'd have one waiter looking after both tables, not the case. Table 1 ordered their drinks, their meal as we waited. About 10 minutes later their drinks and appetizers came while we (table 2) were still waiting on our waiter. We even brought it to the attention of their server and still nothing. Table 1 was served their main entree and we still hadn't gotten our waiter. Once he finally did come over, it was obvious he was a bumbling idiot. We put our order in and 15 minutes later (after table 1 had finished their meal) we still didn't have drinks. We brought it all to the managers attention, and he did nothing to try to remedy the situation. If anything he was standoff-ish and rude. Three other table around us got up and left during this time from similar pathetic service. Please do yourself a favor and stay as far away from Felix's Seafood as possible.
